    Sulu lived nearly across the street from me in Santa Monica in the middle 90s and I first met him at the Barnes and Noble on the 3rd Street Promenade. He was standing near the checkout registers all by himself ... just looking around...and them boomed out "I'm George Takei - Lt. Sulu - would anyone like to talk to me"?
