  2. One of the great all time lines in a film was in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? when Tony Randall, who plays a flack, decides to set up a company for the sole purpose of publicizing the studio's starlit, played by Mansfield. He pitches the idea to studio execs in her presence and they're all for it but she objects because "What'll I do? What'll my position be in the company?" Randall thinks for a while and then a lightbulb comes on "We'll make you the titular head," to which she S-Q-U-E-A-L-S with delight.

  9. Since we're back to movies: I just saw Spielberg's War Horse. Everytime I see a Speilberg film though I marvel at his filmmaking ability there's a complete disconnect emotionally. This film got rave reviews but I knew going in that it was going to be one cliche after another, and it was: noble animal, evil war that destroys everything, cardboard cutout goodies and baddies. This probably makes me sound heartless but beyond a certain age how can you connect to black and white simplicities, Speilberg's stock-in-trade. Oh well, see it for yourself.

  10. Yes, my 15-year-old saw War Horse and says exactly the same thing as ricpic.

Maybe it would be better if you're 12 years old.

  11. Yes we think she lost her head but no man had ever seen it even when it was attached to her body. Just sayn'

  12. Wer'e going to see "The Descendants" this evening for our little New Years fete. A couple hours with my wife, George Clooney, and some overpriced butterlikefluidcovered popcorn, what a great way to bring in 2012!

Happy New Years Troop and all the pixellanders in trooperville!

  13. Damn, I just wasted 10 minutes looking through Trooper York archives for some funny that knox wrote here once about Jayne (back when knox was TY-friendly). She said something like:

"Well there's busty and then there's BUSTY"

I thought it was funny at the time.

  20. Happy New Year.

I spent the evening undecorating the workplace, closing out the end of month stuff and end of year stuff. New Years isn't the same without Guy Lombardo, so I'm going to bed. Screw the Mayans, 2012 is gonna be great.

  21. Here's a raw truth on New Years Day. The first pictures I gazed upon while pleasuring myself were the Sears Catalogue bra section. The next big step was Playboy. I snagged one from the store and it was the copy w/ Jayne Mansfield nude photos from her movie, Promises Promises. It made me hunger for more and I got lots of her photos. They were the first tits I knew. Here's the problem. She had tits w/ very little of the brown stuff around the nipples. So, that was my template. As I graduated to other womens tits in photos and reality I found they ALL had more, often much more of the brown stuff. It took me a long time to accept that as the norm.

I'm sure this is TMI for almost everyone, except maybe Titus. But, it's the flat ass truth and a truth I have never revealed previously. Maybe I've stumbled upon a New Years resolution?

  27. Just "keepin' it real" albeit too real for many tastes. The truth should count for something however.

  28. Truth is good. Discretion is better.

  32. Darcy, you're a January baby too! Mine is coming up on the 16th, the big 60, a bit bittersweet, but I plan on enjoying this last third of my life while I still got "it",lol.

    Happy early birthday to us!

  39. @Sixty: Astrology is actually "old Age", not new age. To me, it's like alchemy: endlessly amusing and fascinating.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It is just as useful and fact based as alchemy, too. Don't make me channel that crazed bastard over here, just sayin'!

  42. GFL you, CL!

    I think? (WTF is GFL?)

OK, I know which one I am. Which are you? And who's the other guy?

  43. @blake: I'm the middle child. Meade's in the lead. I thought you knew this stuff.

    Don't you tweet?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Plus I think Freeman's middle child is a 28. Anybody here born on 3/27 ?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Bruce--

I'm lucky I remember my OWN birthday.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You and Blake finish the month out in style, Bruce. :)

I don't know what GFL is either?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was just kidding about the birthdays. I don't know anybody who was born in March.

  48. Mansfield was either coming or going from an illegal casino in Biloxi, Ms, when she was killed. I forget which. Mississippi was a Wild West sort of place in those days. The state was still officially under prohibition—it would take a referendum to change that. However, the state was losing so much money on alcohol taxes, the legislature passed an illegal liquor tax. Every beer can had a stamp on it saying, “ Mississippi Illegal Liquor Tax Paid 4 cents.” Slot machines had an Illegal Gambling tax stamp on them. This went on until the mid 1960s. I was from Alabama and I would go over there to buy beer as a teenager. They would tell me you have to be 18 to buy illegal beer in Mississippi.
