Time for cocktails....again
I didn't think we were going out last night but we got so busy and we were so tired I couldn't face cooking so we just went across the street for a quick bite.
It's funny how the waiter's fight over our custom. We have taken to sitting at the bar on Wednesday since that is more comfortable for us. I can stretch out my legs and not be all cramped. Tony the bartender takes good care of us and sometimes we have interesting conversations with other people at the bar.
Now that freaks out Jay the waiter because we always sit with him and he wants his tip. It is fine on Wednesday because he goes home early but on a Friday he wants us to sit with him. Some of the other waiters come by to kiss our ass because they want us to sit in their section. Which is fine as far as it goes but we always order off the menu so they have to have the pull with the kitchen to get us what we want. Jay is often left as the manager when the bosses are away so he can get us whatever we want. Which is what you want.
But we started off slow with our basic favorite cocktails. A Cosmo for the wife and a caipirinha for me. Oh and some bruschetta.

what is that, a caiperinha? I looked it up in wikipedia, best I could get is it's sort of like rum.
ReplyDeleteIts like a mojito w/o mint. Diff kind of rum, too, but v. similar IMO.
ReplyDeletelike a mojito w/o mint
ReplyDeleteSo a ghey drink.
You calling Hemingway a fag?
ReplyDeleteHe was pretty macho for a goy who wore dresses as a kid.
It is actually made with a sugar cane whiskey not rum. Lots of lime and sugar.
ReplyDeleteThe one's at Marco Polo were actually better than the ones at Via Brazil because Tony made them with a lot less sugar.
I don't remember Hemingway ever drinking a mojito, and I've read a bunch of biographies, including the one by Hotchner who was with him almost constantly.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget...how he wrote about how he was the girl for his last wife I forget her name.
He was macho because he was hiding something.
I always thought, anyway. And I'm a Hemingway fan.
And I'm not saying he was a fag. I'm suggesting he was probably bisexual, or bi-curious.
yo la tengo
ReplyDeleteI'll drink to that!
ReplyDeleteThanks Chip
ReplyDelete¡Salud!
