This whole thing with Crack at Lem's place is getting ridiculous. It is a snowy day in Brooklyn and we had to cancel all our appointments. So I have been involved in the big mash up with the tag team of Crack and Meade against all comers.
It reminds me of a tag team battle royal. Sort of like Mr. Fugi and Professor Tanaka taking on all comers. And losing badly.
Crack has become a one note crazy. It was amusing to me to have Leisure Suit Larry jump on a comment and mock me by saying "Trooper York reads the Macho Response every day. Who knew."
Which is pretty funny since I don't. Just as I don't read his wife's crap either. I don't have to do that. People always drop by or email choice tidbits. You don't have to read either to know that it is always the same shit. But I guess I am pretty predictable. Just instead of racist rants or tongue bathing gay marriage you get naked pictures of Betty Rubble. Or Betty White. So I guess we are all predictable.
Crack seems to have totally lost it. Saying he hopes I get a "Knock Out Punch" or that I should get shot in my store is pretty out there. But at least he is being honest and saying what he has been thinking about for a long time. Better that it gets out there for all to see.

Let me clarify something. I do think that black people suffer today, but not directly from slavery. Some suffer from being raised in a victim culture, listening to the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons tell them that they can't get ahead because The Man has him under his thumb. But, those are choices that people make to embrace others' grievances as their own and to fabricate conspiracy theories, not directly resulting from personal experience.

I haven't been to Lem's for the better part of a month, and I haven't been to TMR for easily double that. My skin is clearing up and I have more energy and my blood pressure is down.

ReplyDeleteIt is a lie. We can do math. Crack is (I think) about 55. Born in 1959 or so. The Emancipation Proclamation was 1863. Even allowing a few more years for it all to sink in, the last people who were born in slavery was about 1865. That means those INFANTS would have been 94 years old when Crack was born. Being an infant born the last year of slavery doesn't count as being a slave. They were babies, infants. Don't count. Being RAISED by ex slaves or anyone else requires some years of raising.
Besides I recall Crack whining about how he was mistreated as a foster kid.
He exaggerates, he lies, he is crazy.

A neighbor kid worked briefly for the town newspaper, mostly because he wanted to get some experience at his photography, but they made him attend school board meetings and boring shit like that. So, he did it. It was a paycheck.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, he met a white guy from South Africa who had moved here. Now, mountain folk can be very friendly and accepting, but a lot of that is controlled by the outsider. Don't keep telling locals how you did it back home, that sort of thing. So, I don't know what this South African guy was like, because I never met him, but he had trouble adjusting to our way of life and he felt like he got the cold shoulder a lot of the time.
So, the neighbor kid decided to write a story about this immigrant from Africa, who was facing such adversity and prejudice and injustice here in the USA. How he had trouble finding work, how his diet and customs were so scorned by the xenophobic Americans. On and on, suggesting but never saying that the underlying issue was racism.
It was quite the tale of woe and made the reader really feel sorry for the guy. He never mentioned that the guy he was describing was white until the last paragraph. It was actually pretty brilliant and, of course, the editor refused to print it, since it demonstrated nicely that many times racism is only imaginary.

ReplyDeleteI had little to no zen going today, Cody Jarrett. When I read Crack's baited rantings and find him pissing on posts and dominating threads with his one sided distortions, I go into the Fight/Flight/Freeze response, wanting to argue while knowing that doing so seems to energize him all the more. I must have written and erased a dozen comments between today and yesterday. His blatant dishonestly with himself and others appalls me.
I'm continually surprised by his audaciousness and my own willingness to read his stuff and be surprised, when he's been behaving the same way for several years. What he says appears so wildly incongruent, I go to disbelief and anger, wanting to find a way to hold him accountable and make the disparate pieces fit into something that makes more sense than it does. Maybe that's the hook, the thing that draws me into his dramas. Having experienced my fill of personality disordered behavior, there's still part of me that wishes for an adult to show up and say "Stop! Just stop with the foolishness and be real!" Even though I know the result. I watched it happen again today when a mutual exchange of ideas was invited.
Palladian's post saved the day for me. Although the calm strong beauty of the colors alone would have been enough, his openness in the comments regarding process was a bonus that touched my heart. It was a refreshing find in the froth of either/or, black and white, deceit and blather. His willingness to do what was needed to keep the thread from being infected with more drama and dishonesty was also appreciated.

Since art has a way of enduring beyond the patron or owner's life, it's my hope those pieces sold and given away will find value with another someday down the road.
At first click, the presence of two black and white closed boxes, inscribed with maze and closed lines, with the lightest point beyond them, made me laugh. After which I appreciated the grays and overall movement of color and line, beautifully done. She, mistress of the house where this is thought to reside, has a good eye!

Every comment I post is but one of about 6 or so that I wrote and re-wrote a half dozen times as well, and then deleting 5 of the 6 in the end.
I do it for two reasons: 1.) sometimes I am just full of shit, upon thinking about it, and 2.) I am always too verbose...so I must cull the flurry. Final edits that make it are usually less than half of the original diatribe. :)

Possibly a combination of issues, including and mainly isolation from other people. We don't know what his life is outside of his one note insane rantings and increasingly hate filled posts about race on the internet. Does he have friends? Spend any time doing something constructive? I fear not.
If there is no one to do a personal intervention, and it seems not, I sincerely hope that things will not spin out of control and see the hate and vitriol that is being spewed on the internet happen in real life.
I suggest that we not engage with or encourage the escalation into madness. I would also suggest that people not contact him directly. It would appear to be a dangerous move.

Me too. That was my point...the interpretation & narrative presented in Huff Po did not reflect anything about Sherman or what he said.
I really have no patience (a flaw I admit) with people who philosophically scream loudly that something is broken, not right (!), blah blah, yet do nothing nor offer any ideas on how to go about fixing it. Or even discuss proposals already on the table by others.

So fuck Meade, the pussy-whipped drunk that he is. The hell he lives in daily is far worse than any punishment I could lay on him. Just imagine waking up in the morning and seeing that bleary-eyed dye job skank lying next to you. That he hasn't killed himself already speaks to his total lack of self-awareness.
I wonder--and this may be a question for MamaM--but is it better to acknowledge they bring out the worst in you, while still participating, or would it be better to take the other route, simply removing the irritants from your life (you know, like I try to).
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to think in some ways the ability to engage or not engage is a little more honest than the total refusal to engage.
But I'm not sure yet.
You know, for the most part, I ignore and avoid them. But in moments of weakness I respond. Then I feel unclean and need Jesus to cast out the demons, which then leap into the nearest swine, and Lord knows it's crowded enough in Crack's head and Meade sure doesn't need any more demons running around that empty space between his ears.

Dude, what you need to figure out is it you aren't fighting 24 hours a day!
So you navigate long distances to meet other people and kill them, then once the hard work is done you sit down and have a few beers.

Descended from Normans. Every once in a while something would excite that blood and he'd just go off. In his late 60's with long white hair and beard he faced down a couple of 20 something motorcycle punks who tried to run him off the road (in his big ol' white caddy...cuz they thought he was a soft old dude).
Only the arrival of the popo kept those two kids from being badly hurt, I swear.

IMO, and I just mean me (and maybe Haz), I'd delete him even if he was saying "Hail Marys" just because nothing he does is in good faith, and given a chance he will try very hard to hurt and embarrass other commenters, with vile comments...as he has proven repeatedly.
Yes. I'm familiar with the breed. You can tell them by their lopsided gait, usually with one shoulder hanging lower than the other.

Excellent advice. However, there is one serious advantage to a WordPress blog: You can edit comments, which, IMHO, would be the most fun of all.
Wordpress editing is the ultimate in pest/troll control. They hate having their snark changed.

Also, I've got to tell you, the last thing I would publicly discuss is abortion. The portion of the world we live in has moved into a situation where some distant results of virtue (diversity, inclusion, and other PC etceteras) have become the sole origins of public morality. The underlying philosophy is entirely transactional and materialist. As we live in an increasingly artificial environment, where the internet would replace our souls (an avowed purpose of Google, differently stated, of course), it is not to be expected that many would have an understanding of the transcendent, or how that might relate (if you allow its existence) in any way to physical or spiritual life. This will, inevitably, tell its own story. I don't think it will be a good one by past human standards. But there's no fighting it now. And I won't be here that much longer (I'm not sick, just old), so it doesn't seem worth it to me to waste the slightest effort to publicly go against the times. Privately, I do what I can for myself and others. But to become a public scold in any way countering the modern world is both bad for me and futile, and I will not do it. This may be Meade's answer, but, of course he wasn't really looking for one, just a rhetorical hobby horse to ride around his pile of horseshit.

It stayed with me because I'd recently seen TY respond to a serious question from ricpic regarding his current (but not oft mentioned) health situation since surgery, and I was surprised by the exchange and the warmth of the response, enough to make me wonder if going by the "don't say anything 'til they bring it up" rule I'd been following (probably based on the don't talk, don't feel, don't think, stuff from childhood) was really the way I wanted to go. This caused me to reflect on how much I too appreciate inquiry (it was actually one of Titus's more endearing features, albeit tainted with manipulation) because inquiry invites another to engage. Which is really what blogging's about at the most basic level. Sharing something about one's self, one's story, one's thoughts, ...belief, view, humor, confusion, sorrow, delight, outrage, etc.; in the hope of inviting some kind of response, in personal thought or written comment.
When I read that MHaz had deleted all his comments from the Crack threads, I understood his motive for doing so, but also wished he left the questions he'd asked in, because they appeared to have been sincerely asked, along with Aridog's intentional and invitational questioning, in the hope of receiving a response.
I thought Darcy's Abortion post today was a good one, leading to an assortment of responses with some good comments further in. Without Revenant's probing (whether it was done in good faith or not), Chips S's response to him would not have been what it was, and I very much appreciated what he had to say along with Evi's disagreement and input. I also appreciated some of the personal stories, and the links by Lydia. The Meade stuff was a sideline show, in which he too revealed more of his colors.
Regardless of which position or view is being presented, posts on abortion tend to involve and invite emotion, confusion, opinion and intensity. That concern and opinion could be expressed and discussion invited without everyone needing to agree with each other or be on the same page in order to be ok was a good thing.
