Rave On John Donne

When we are subjected to the inarticulate ravings of a lunatic in every thread I thought it best that we listen to John Donne raving on and on and on...........

  3. I was going to write about how much I have enjoyed Van the man over the last 50 years, but figured the racist would show up and try to bait us.

No Gurus etc. was one of the songs I was going to mention.

There are many more - I am trying to recall a new one that popped up on my Pandora the other day - recorded just a few years ago - Ivan still has it goin' on, just sayin'...

  4. The answer to America's problem is that we have to make shit.

    And sell shit.

The difference is what determines her future.
Do we need a summation line?

  5. "Shit " of course is contemporary vernacular. If you're like me -- substitute "stuff"

  6. I know Sixty. People that only know him from Brown Eyed Girl are really missing out.

Lisa and I have long argued about Van the Man. I always put it on the Ipod when I am in the store alone. She shuts if off and tells me it is old man music.

  7. Am I not an old man? A man so old that when I zip up my jacket I catch my beard in the zipper? A man so old that yard gnomes use me as a role model?

Van is even older than I am. Dude is way old. He does okay for an Irish.

  8. Van Morrison did well at '66' Whiskey a Go Go.
I 'd love to hear more.

  9. Van Morrison and his cousin Jim Morrison did a duet of Gloria at WaGG back in the day.

Jim liked smack more than he liked life. Van has a new baby.

  11. Old man music

Music is powerful. Van is great for many reasons, but one of the fundamental reasons is that he understands groove.

  12. "I can't drink anymore. I have to stick to lemon water and decaf tea."

A glass of wine, now and then, shouldn't hurt.

As for Van - can't understand a word he's saying (singing?).

  13. Check out "Irish Heatbeat" with the Chieftains. You can understand it and it is full of great traditional style Irish songs.

  14. Van from 2005.

The YouTube video is a special class of stupid - "Hurst" castle? Everyone, including Tonya, knows a hurst is what hauls you away.

  15. The Hearst Castle is amazing to see. What an egomaniac.

  16. Hey, that stuff was for sale, he bought it, his architect put it together nicely for him, what's the prob?

I liked the fact that he owned everything you could see from the top of the hill, except the ocean, and that was only because he couldn't find anyone to sell it to him.

  17. "Am I not an old man?" sighed the young squirt Sixty
As all the Seventies laughed then coughed then wheezed:
    "You're only old when you're past all caring;
Now mount up and make the best bowl ever!"

  18. Wow, ricpic, you are truly the poet laureate of the interwebs!

    Thank you.

  19. As per rc's comment Morrison doesn't ARTICULATE dammit!

  20. In my deaf world no one articulates. Closed captioning FTW!

  21. Yes you are.

    Now get back to creating.

  22. I can't drink anymore

I can't drink any less. Trying to help the industry after you dried out. We're all in this together.

Van Morrison. I have about 4900 tracks on iTunes; more than 300 of them are Van Morrison. He is by far my favorite singer/philosopher/composer/artist. By far.

It's challenging to pick out one favorite song, for me, at least, but I do have a favorite album. Its the double live album, One Night In San Francisco.

  23. When Irish 'take the cure', they swear to give up Jameson and merely drink Guinness so as to remain sober. As sober as an Irish man.

The Prods drink Bushmills. The ladies drink Tullamore Dew.

  24. One of my favorites.

    Nice, if repetitive video.

I probably have a dozen of his CDs. Old Men Unite!

  25. The double live album by Van the Man is my all time favorite album.

  26. But how could we forget "Beautiful Vision" as one of his top albums.

Man you can name one after another of them.

  27. Sixty, I've toured Taliesin, the Frank Lloyd Wright estate. He ALWAYS counseled his clients to buy everything that could be seen from the manse.
