Urban poetry with Maya Angelou


Curtains forcing their will
against the wind,
children sleep,
exchanging dreams with
seraphim. Dreaming of
punching elderly Jews,
smiling.The city
drags itself awake on
subway straps; and
I, an alarm, awake as a
rumor of war, it's the man
time to go to work, no I
lie stretching into dawn,
unasked and unheeded.

    Let's face it, she sucked. And now it's racist and mean to point it out just because she's dead. It was like Mandela. The guy was a violent Communist, and to point that out was racist and mean. For all the squabbling about white privilege, it looks to me like there's some serious black privilege in the world as well.
