I love Garrett's take on Vivaldi's "L'estate", BTW. Throwing in the metal riffs really adds some pizazz. It's already like one of the most amazing pieces of music ever composed. But those embellishments really jazz it up, bring it to life, make it even more powerful and timeless.
What's really cool on that clip is that he kept it going strong despite breaking the bow.
I heard this guy performs exclusively on Stradivarii.
What an amazing instrument. That there are musicians who still prefer these models constructed from centuries ago is a remarkable testament to Stradivarius' knack for selection of materials and skill with hand-made design.
I'm partial to this one
ReplyDeleteThe video is hilarious. But check out this live version too.
Here's an instrumental version I found with a bit of help from Montana Urban Legend...
ReplyDeleteAh, here's a nice smooth one.
ReplyDeleteDavid Garrett is tha man.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I wasn't a huge fan of MJ, he was obviously amazingly influential for a reason. Incredibly gifted, and just as wounded.
Smooth Criminal makes for an awesome cover for so many other musicians of every stripe to interpret - as Alien Ant Farm can attest.
Oh. And I finally checked back into that dead internet space I keep - that sorry excuse of mine for a "blog". And I responded to your sorry asses. ;-)
I think it was all this crazy revolution stuff in Iran that's been consuming my time on the intertubes lately.
Thanks for the link, mcg.

ReplyDeleteThank you, I couldn't remember that name. I do prefer their version.
