Happy birthday in heaven for the greatest owner in the history of sports: George Steinbrenner.
We really miss you boss. If you were around we would have a bunch of new players on the field to take over from the broken down dregs that remain from the championship years. The kids are running it like a business. Not like you did.
The Yankee fans really miss you.
He was a generous man who did generous acts w/o publicity. That's quite admirable. And that is the totality of my admiration for this guy.
ReplyDeleteHey, all we mokes in Wisconsin had was Bud Selig running our baseball club.
ReplyDeleteYou win.
Steinbrenner was evil made flesh. He was the devil on earth.
ReplyDeleteBut as a baseball owner you have to admire that he actually wanted to win.
So as bad as George was, at least I respected him. I have nothing but contempt for those owners who don't do the same. And there are many franchises like that.
George was the best owner in the history of sports. Hey he made mistakes. A lot of mistakes. But never sitting on his money and saying fuck the fans. The Wilpons make just as many mistakes and they never got the hatred that George got from his rivals.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Bud Selig's evil spawn who ran the Brewers?
ReplyDeleteGeorge Steinbrenner described by Trooper York: "...But never sitting on his money and saying fuck the fans."
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely true. Damn you George Steinbrenner for that! Especially damn those owners who fail to do the same.
