ReplyDeleteThe NFL needs weight limits for linemen. The need to be bigger and stronger has resulted in massive steroid users like Incognito. Great football teams like the old Packers, Giants, Bears and others played very well with 250 pound linemen.
Haz, The very basic formula of Mass x velocity = force is a the main source of head injuries. Put a weight limit and make the turf higher, lowering the equation.
ReplyDeleteHelmets and shoulder pads cause injury. Players could not slam into each other as they do without the protection of helmets and pads. Rugby has tackling and scrums, but no wear near the same number of injuries as football (although rugby tends to have more spinal injuries than football).
