Freddy's Dead.......but the beat goes on in Baltimore.

The Denny Hastert case is a vital story that cuts to the core of the problems facing our society.
Meanwhile there 38 murders during the Merry Month of May in Baltimore Maryland. A young mother and her seven year old son were shot in the head. This does not merit wall to wall saturation coverage in the news media. No special editions. No cable news spectaculars.
The police have taken a giant step back. Arrests are down 50% This is what you have called for these past few months. Letting the little things go. Don’t provoke the criminals and the mobs who gather to protect them. No police would dare to stop a skell to find out if they have a weapon because they would be brought up on charges. They would be indicted and charged with making an “illegal arrest” by a district attorney who curries favor with the mob. With a media that caters to the criminal element. With a mayor who wants to make sure that there is space for those who want to destroy.
Denny Hastert spending his own money is the issue. Keep your eye on the ball.

"This is Annie from Brooklyn.....and I love your products."

So last week we went and had a meeting about going on a Home Shopping Network. It went really well. This is the same network that has a bunch of Reality Stars like Luann from "The Real Housewives of New York." We brought a bunch of our line for the representative to see and they were impressed. Both by the clothes and by Lisa. She really can sell and bursts right through the camera.

We brought the model who has become the face of Lee Lee's Valise. Sallie Ann is all over our website and the buyers thought it was a great idea. It seemed like they were only going to give us a cursory look but we stayed for four hours. They are ready to sign us up.

So the upshot is that we might be going out to Minnesota in February for Lisa to be on this shopping network. That it is how long it takes to get things made and ready for sale.

Minnesota in February. We couldn't sign with the one in Florida? Waddayagonnado?

So I am becoming more and more like an 80 year old Italian woman

The wife tells me that I always smell like an 80 year old Italian woman. That is because I am always cooking and often smell like garlic or basil or parsley. When I wake her up in the morning I often smell of the lunch I prepared before I have a chance to shower. She loves to tease me. Now I am giving her even more ammunition.

Like most men I control the remote. So much so that she doesn't even know how to work it. I mean I always ask her what she wants to watch. To which she replies "I don't know." So I have to list what is available and we pick out what we want to veg out too and forget about the stresses of the day.

More and more I am tired of typical television fare. I am tired of serial killers and brutality. Maybe I am just old. I have been favoring simple fare. English stuff. "Call the Midwife." "Mr. Selfridge." "Doc Martin." Even crime dramas like "Broadchurch" that doesn't feature mutilated corpses every episode and over the top bullshit. I mean on the season finale of Hawaii Five O they set off a nuclear bomb for crying out loud.

Now I am hooked on the Hallmark Channel. We first stated watching "Cedar Cove" that starred the Instapundit's wife. Then we stareted following "When Calls the Heart" which is a sappy soap opera about a love story with a Mountie and a schoolteacher. You know what? It is the closest you are going to get to a John Ford movie these days.

We even started watching the Hallmark movies. They all have the same plot with nondescript actors. I mean they might have one old TV star you might recognize as a supporting character. One had Joyce DeWitt from "Three's Company." Another had Tim Conway. What they have in common is a sweet love story with a predictable twist and a happy ending.  Easy to watch. Easy to enjoy. No gore. No corpses. No serial killers.

I swear I am turning into an old woman.

The perfect way to celebrate the Duke's birthday!

Is to watch the "Quiet Man" on Netflicks. They just added it as a "New Movie." Heh.

It is my favorite of all John Wayne movies. You can't beat it. It has all the regulars of the John Ford stock company. A great story.

I will be watching it tonight.

I thought "Black Lives Matter?"

There were 29 shootings and 9 murders in Baltimore over the Memorial Day weekend. Why do we not know any of the names of the people who were shot? Why doesn’t the President and the Attorney General speak out about this genocidal level of violence against minority communities in Baltimore? Where are the protestors and the social justice warriors demanding answers about this level of violence? Where is the Mayors cries of righteous indignation? Where is the wall to wall press coverage? Where is MSNBC and CNN and Geraldo Rivera and the white haired guy with the mom who sold blue jeans? Where is the mention of this on all of the blogs who gave us Freddie Grey and Michael Brown morning  noon and night?
I thought “Black Lives Matter?”

Happy Birthday to the Duke!

Happy Birthday to the Duke who would have been 108 years old today if he has survived his hard living ways.

The Duke drank and smoked and had three wives. Not what I would reccomend if you want to live to be 108.

Most people think he caught cancer because of the exposure to radiation when he was filming "The Conquerer" in Utah which was downwind from nuclear testing in Nevada. Almost everyone connected to that movie died of cancer.

Of course his life long addiction to ciggarettes didn't help.

It is a testament to his greatness that he is still an icon today when stars of his era like Gary Cooper and Clake Gable are basically forgotten.

You can find a John Wayne movie on TV almost every day of the year. They hold up over time. Some of the best westerns ever filmed.

Happy Birthday Duke!

It sounds like a George Pelecanos Novel

So by now I am sure you have heard of the arrest of Daron Dylon Wint. He is accused of mudering Savvas Savopolous, his wife Amy, their son Philip and the housekeeper Veralicia Figueroa.

This could be the plot of a George Pelecanos novel. He is the great crime novelist who bases his stories in the Washington/Baltimore/ Virgina area. But basically Washington DC. It often has a Greek character since he is of course Greek and he writes about what he knows. How the Greek subculture of diners and cash businesses interacts with the basically black clientèle in a black city like DC. His novels really give you a feel of what the gritty streets of DC are really like and what it feels like being a white guy in a black city.

Pelecanos also wrote several of the best episodes of the Wire which is the best crime drama ever put on television.  He is the Elmore Leonard of his generation. I can not think of higher praise.

This crime sounds like an inside job. The victims might have been sketchy. Certainly the fact that his employee left a bunch of cash on his doorstep indicates that is not the first time something like this has happened in his employ.

The suspect is the kind of guy that Obama and all of the liberals are complaining about. He is the kind of black guy that has been incarcerated and who they want to set free. They want to make it a crime if you ask if this guy was ever in jail. As a felon they want to give him back all of his rights including voting. He is the poster boy for the "Black Lives Matter" campaign.

Sometimes life is just like fiction.

Michael Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzmichael......legally!

It seems that Ireland has approved gay marriage. By a pretty wide margin. The Church is in tatters in Ireland and this is another nail in the coffin. Or the cross as it were.

The big difference is that the people voted for it. Something that we never got a chance to do here. The question is what is the next step. Will everyone be forced to participate in the celebration of same sex marriages? Will the bakers and photographers and venues be destroyed if they do not comply?

I expect that is what will happen. I also expect that they will pass laws to force the Churches in Ireland to give the Sacrament of Marriage to same sex couples. Just as I expect to happen in the United States.

Then we will have to see what comes next.

I know how TLC works....so this is no surprise

The latest scandal about reality TV is all over the place and the SJW's and gay mafia are e static. It seems that the oldest son of the Duggar family has admitted to "molesting" some girls when he was a young teenager. Including some of his siblings.

Now this is the exact same thing that Lena Dunham proudly put in her autobiography last year. She was lionized by the same people who are calling for the Duggars heads. They are off TLC and it looks like they have lost their show.

Now the Duggars are very conservative and are active in a bunch of conservative causes. So of course all of the liberals are delighting in attacking them and demanding that they be punished. The Duggar son was unlucky that he is a heterosexual. If he were gay he would have a bunch of defenders  who would minimize what he did and demand that he suffer no penalty. Especially if he came out as a gay to demonize his family.

I don't know what he did. The police seemed to have investigated and decided not to prosecute. Like most people I abhor child molesting but it seems that he was a very young teenager. We don't know any of the facts. How old was he? How old was the siblings he molested? What did he do exactly? I guess the facts will come out. Or they won't. It is just unseemly the glee evidenced by those who celebrate every perversion in the book. Especially if it is gay.

TLC has always exploited people for their reality shows. It is a very gay network and most of the people  who work there are gay. They look down on ridicule people like the Duggars, Honey Boo Boo, the little people and some dumb Italians in Brooklyn. They think they can make money off you and they do for a while. So you sell your soul for money but in the end they will be happy to stab you in the back.

I don't expect them to stand by the Duggars. I don't expect them to wait until they have all the facts. I don't expect them to act decently. They never do.

I have seen this show before. I hope the Duggars saved their money.

Remembrance of things Pabst

So Tuesday is our day off and that means doctors day. We went to the allergist on Clinton Street and that means we get to go to Theresa's Polish Restaurant.

I meant to take a photo of our meal but I was so hungry I gobbled down my burger before I remember to take a shot. The only thing left was the side order of pirogies. Man that was good. With sautéed onions and sour cream. The burger was excellent with mozzarella, fried onions and mushrooms. A real treat for a heart patient like me. A once a month thing.

It was beautiful out so we decided to walk. We always make a day of it Instead of going to the Promenade we made it a busman's holiday and went shopping at some of the local boutiques.

We went to our friend Tony's wide width shoe store on Montague St. Now we are very friendly with Tony. He loves Lisa. We always send him clients since our plus size customers often need wide width shoes and drop a lot of money. Plus we featured his store on our show. So he always gives us the shoes at cost.

The downside is that he is an old school communist who is always ranting left wing propaganda at me. I never say anything because I don't want to harsh the mellow and get in an argument. I just turn the talk to how hard it is to get employees and he goes off on a tangent.

I will do a lot to get wholesale prices.

We continued wandering down Clinton St and came to a store I often looked at and never went in. Two for the Pot is a store that sells tea and coffee and all the things that go along with it. It is a cute little shop even though it looks like it is run by hoarders. It is pretty dusty and I think some of the stuff expired in 1957 but what are you gonna do.

We started by buying a new tea pot. Actually a tea infuser where you put the loose tea in and brew it like coffee. That was pretty cool. I plan to brew up a pot of tea at the end of the night and say "Baby is coming." So to speak.

Since  we can't drink anymore we need to enjoy simple pleasures. We got a couple of loose teas to try and so far it is pretty good.

We also picked up a French Press to brew coffee. We always wanted to get one so we figured why not give the local guy some business. He was very nice and gave us a fellow merchants discount which is always nice. We picked up some fresh ground coffee to use in the morning when we are getting ready for work.

Fresh coffee in the morning. A nice cuppa at night. Simple pleasures.

They are the best.

Instapundit has a column about the Pope

I came upon this posting on Instapundit about Pope Francis and his new found friends in the Palestinian terrorist government:

Pope Francis Refers to Holocaust Denier, Anti-Semite, and Terrorist as an ‘Angel of Peace’ By Rick Moran

What would possess Pope Francis to call PA President Mahmoud Abbas an “angel of peace”?
It’s like Francis announcing that Satan is just a misunderstood archangel, and really isn’t such a bad sort after all.
Francis said he thought the gift was appropriate since “you are an angel of peace.” During his 2014 visit to Israel and the West Bank, Francis called both Abbas and Israeli President Shimon Peres men of peace.
Abbas is in Rome for the canonization Sunday of two 19th-century nuns from what was then Ottoman-ruled Palestine. The new saints, Mariam Bawardy and Marie Alphonsine Ghattas, are the first from the region to be canonized since the early days of Christianity.
Abbas on Saturday offered Francis relics of the two new saints.
Church officials are holding up the new saints as a sign of hope and encouragement for Christians in the Middle East at a time when violent persecution from Islamic extremists has driven many Christians from the region of Christ’s birth.
Abbas’ visit also comes days after the Vatican finalized a bilateral treaty with the “state of Palestine” that made explicit its recognition of Palestinian statehood.
The Vatican said it had expressed “great satisfaction” over the new treaty during the talks with the Palestinian delegation. It said the pope, and later the Vatican secretary of state, also expressed hopes that direct peace talks with Israel would resume.
“To this end, the wish was reiterated that with the support of the international community, Israelis and Palestinians may take with determination courageous decisions to promote peace,” a Vatican statement said.
Since the pope insists on ignoring the record, allow me to fill in some details about Mr. Abbas:
* Wrote his dissertation on the supposed collaboration between Nazis and Zionists and claims that the actual number of dead Jews as a result of the Holocaust was less than a million.
* Was named “Anti-Semite of the Year” by the Simon Wiesenthal Center in 2011.
* While acting as Yassar Arafat’s “moderate” face for the PLO in order to placate western complaints about PLO terrorism, Abbas funded the terror attack at the Munich Olympics and played a shadowy role in the attack on the cruise ship Achille Lauro with some former PLO members claiming he was the mastermind behind the attack.
Abbas is not only corrupt, he has been accused of murdering Syrian intelligence officers in 1966. And this is a man the pope has called an “angel of peace”?
The pope’s warped worldview forgives all in Abbas’ past because Francis takes the terrorist at his word today that he wants “peace” with Israel. In the cuckoo land of leftists, despite all evidence to the contrary, Abbas is believed because his views line up with those who wish to blame Israel for the failure to achieve peace.
The Vatican formally recognized the “state” of Palestine for the first time earlier in the week. I don’t think this means that the pope actually wants to see Israel destroyed. But he has obviously bought into the lie that giving Palestinians their own country will allow everyone in the Middle East to live happily ever after.
The pope should stick to saving souls and leave the hard stuff to the grownups.
I couldn't have said it better.

Marilyn's Diary

My Uncle Herman was really hip. I mean he was just groovy. He loved to do all the things that young college kids loved to do in the 1960's.

He played guitar. Smoked pot. Grew out his hair. Especially the hair in his ears. And most of all he loved to dance.

If you didn't know that he was a seven foot tall green skinned monster you would think he was a Negro. He could do the Twist. The Stroll. The Mashed Potato. The Watusi.

Every night I would set up my victrola and we would play records and dance and dance and dance.

But there was one dance that I loved to do with my Uncle Herman.

The Horizontal Mambo.

The two young gangsters were in a hurry. They always seemed to be in a hurry. It was very different than the old country. Very different then how things were done when the Clutching Hand was the capo di tutti i capi.

In the beginning of the century his clan ruled Manhattan with an iron fist. They pushed the queer and wrote the missives to the Italian businessmen who trembled in fear of the Black Hand. Anyone who objected was sent to the “murder stable” and made their way out in a barrel. Most of the time that did not even need to happen. He would just send his brother in law to speak to them. One gesture from Lupo the Wolf would be enough to turn their bowels to water. He would take off his fedora and ruffle the feather. Dust some imaginary lint off his white suit and smile. They would deliver. Not just from their trespasses. From their poverty. Anything to avoid the caress of the Black Hand.

Lupo was gone now. Tommaso the Ox. All of them. Dead or on the lam or in prison. His half-brothers as well. The only one left was the stunad Ciro. He was another of these young punks like Luciano and Anastasia. He had a hand in their liquor business with Castiglia and all the rest. Not someone to rely on when the trouble comes. And trouble always comes.
“So Don Guiseppi the Boss sent us to pick up the escarole” said the jovial Scalise. He was the jokester. The clown. Anastasia was the quiet one. More the surly one. He glowered in the corner with his hat in his hand. Which was a surprise in itself. He never went anywhere with his hat in his hand. Unless he was hiding a gun.

“I did not hear from him Francesco. Usually I send Joseph downtown. So you can understand why I might ask a question.”

“Why don’t you call him if you think we are lying to you” growled Anastasia. Some people go through life looking for a fight. It was a measure of how far he had fallen that these young punks would dare to speak to his this way. A humiliation. Just another one of many that he had to endure these days..

“This is not business that should be done over the phone. You should know this my friend. I have no problem giving you the cash. I know your word is good. I know you would not disrespect me or Don Masseria by doing anything that you would regret. Joseph gather up the cash and put it in the bag from the pears.”

“Thank you Don Morello. I am sorry to disturb you. But I need to do what I am told.” “Yes as we all do. As we all must do.”

Trunk show with Miss Ellie

Today was a really busy day!

We had a trunk show with one of our jewelry designers Miss Ellie. She makes all of her jewelry in New York and we have been carrying it for a couple of years. Now what is great about a trunk show is that she brings all of her wares and I don't have to buy them all. We just buy what ever she sells and split the sales price. Sort of like a short sale of a stock.

Unfortunately it was slow today but I am sure it will pick up tomorrow. Which is why we are doing it over two days.

She has a lot of great stuff.

She does a lot of different stuff. Earrings. Necklaces. Bracelets. Broaches. Lots of good stuff.

The best sellers seem to be the bracelets of which we sold several.

Hopefully it will be better tomorrow.

Avi slach lahem ki eynam yod'im ma hem 'osim

I am troubled by the actions of this troublesome pope. He met with the  Palestinian President Mahmoud Abba and called him an "angel of peace." Now this is the same Palestinian authority that has demanded the end of Israel and the destruction of the Jewish people.

Catholics have a very bad history with Jews as I am sure you know. The Inquisition. Pogroms. The record of Pope Pius in World War 2 is of course very troubling. The Church did a lot to help some of the Jews. But nowhere near enough. I have no right to question what they did. I don't know what I would have done. I most likely would have been weak. I would have acquiesced and done what I thought I had to do to survive. I would have denied him three times. Maybe twenty times three times. I am weak.

What Pope Pius did was bend with the strong wind. He made what accommodations he had to make with evil so that the Church could survive. He did what he thought he had to do and I am not a worthy judge. I don't know what pressure he was under or what he faced when dealing with such evil.  Who am I to judge.

Is this Pope signaling that he is willing to do the same thing as Pius? Is it his plan to acquiesce with evil and accommodate it to find some illusory safety at the cost of the annihilation of the Jews?

I am a very strong defender of Israel and the Jewish people. Sometimes more than actual secular Jews. Which amazes me but what are you going to do. Some people are descendants of the ghetto fighters of Wausau. And some are descendants of the Kapos who helped put their people in the ovens.

If we don't stand up for the Jews and Israel we are on the road to destruction. The Jews are always the canary in the coal mine. The BDS movement on the left and on campus is just the beginning of a catastrophe if we let it go forward. The News Media, the Obama administration and now the Pope are all on the bandwagon. The stars are all aligning again. Evil is abroad and walking the land. Killing Jews. Killing Christians. Burning churches. Cutting off heads. We remember how this turned out the last time we had a complaisant pope and a lackadaisical ultra liberal president.

Never again.

Why can't I just buy a record?

Getting music these days is an adventure. Now I have hundreds of CD's and hundreds of vinyl records in my collection that I don't listen to anymore. I don't even have a working stereo. Or a cassette deck.

I remember in the old days when I used to go to J&R records on Nassau Street when I was in college and got the latest records I heard onWNEW. The Who. Van Morrison. Humble Pie. Jethro Tull. Man those were the days.

Now everything is on your Iphone or Ipad or IPod. It is all computer electronic bullshit. You download it and put it on one of your devices. I don't know how to do it but all the kids do. One of my former employees showed me how to go to some Pirate Site and download free music which I tried a few times. But I ended up with viruses and fucked up a perfectly good computer so later for that shit.

Then I started downloading from Itunes and paying for it and everyone says I am crazy. But I don't mind paying but it seem silly to buy something I already have on CD or a record. Plus once I buy it I have to transfer it to the Ipod. It is a pain in the ass.

Now my niece is teaching me how to download free music from Amazon Prime. I have downloaded a bunch of stuff and now I have to figure out how to get it on the I pod.

Why can't I just buy a record?

I throw my leg in and that's it!

I am enjoying posting at Previously TV. Especially the Real Housewives threads. This weeks show of the New York Housewives was really entertaining. The bimbos all take a limo down to Atlantic City. It was as low rent an excursion as that seems.

Atlantic City has really changed in the last few years. A bunch of  casinos have folded. It used to be that gambling was only available in Vegas or Atlantic City. Well legal gambling. There were always games in the city that you could get into and I got into a few back in the day. I also loved to go to Atlantic City. There were a dozen big casinos and a bunch of restaurants and joints to drink. There was an Irish Pub right off the boardwalk that was one of the best bars I was ever drunk in.

But that is all over. Every freaking little town and village has a casino now. The city has them at the old racetracks at Aqueduct and Yonkers. So you don't have to travel. Most of the bigger casinos have folded. Now it is a real low rent experience.

Anyway these broads get all tarted up in their expensive slutty clothes standing next to guys in shorts and Metallica t-shirts. It is hilarious. They decide to go to a club and it is a shit storm. Sonja Morgan who is the all star slutty drunk is out of control. She tries to make out with the Countess Luann and is all sloppy drunk. She tries to get up on the stage with the dancers and she falls and flashes her cooch at the camera. Luann is standing in front of her trying to block the camera and goes "What am I the snatch guard?"

Brilliant!

So that called for a bunch of comments at Previously TV to determine what exactly is a snatch guard?

Does a snatch guard keep you from sneezing on it?

Do the British Snatch Guards wear those big Beaver hats?

Does a snatch guard sit in a tall chair wearing a whistle next to Sonja's bed in case someone falls in?

Sonja likes to name drop but is it true that David Hasselhoff was her snatch guard in the 1990's?

Do you have to wear your snatch guard when you go to sleep in the same way you that you wear a night guard when you have TMJ? You know to stop your vagina from grinding in your sleep.

I'm telling you. The mind boggles!

I don't know what it is with this guy!

So Pope Francis has decided that in the midst of the problems in the Middle East with Muslim terrorists beheading Christians and throwing refugees into the ocean he should recognize the Palestinian state. That's right. Make nice with terrorists and the people who are aligned with ISIS and the Muslim extremists who want to destroy the Church and all that it stands for. Instead of fighting tooth and nail and leading the forces of Christendom against those that would cut off our heads. He his budding up with the likes of the PLO and Hamas.

This Pope seems to be very left wing. A follower of liberation theology. He seems to sign on to all of the left wing talking points. Climate change. Income Redistribution. The Palestinian State. What's next? Gay marriage and Abortion?

He has taken his first tentative steps to changing the teaching of the Church over abortion. He has decided to send "Missionaries of Mercy" to go and forgive those who Catholics who got an abortion. Why did he need to do that? Are they some kind of special sinners? Special murderers because they killed their babies instead of a stranger? Forgiveness and reconciliation was always available to them. Just as it would be to any murderer. They would have to go to confession and sincerely repent their sins. Of course they would have to sincerely repent and do their penance. Not wear a "I got an abortion T-shirt" and laugh it off like it was a nose job or something. Why is the Pope facilitating abortion? Is he going to ease the consciences of those who provide abortions and the politicians who support it? Is he normalizing it for Catholics?

What's going on here?

I guess if he can cuddle up with the people who like to kill Jews it is no big deal to cuddle up with the people who like to kill babies.

I keep asking. Is this Pope Catholic? Youse guys keep telling me he is. I don't see it.

Remembrance of Things Pabst

Well Tuesday was our day off and you know what that means.

Another doctor appointment. This time in the city at First Avenue and 37th Street.

It seems that like most American Companies NYU Hospital has imported their workers from China. We got hooked up with NYU because we went to the urgent care emergency room where Long Island College Hospital used to be located. They set us up with an appointment with the concussion center because of Lisa having fallen last month. We were to see Doctor Foo and once I saw that was his name I resolved not to fight with him.

The appointment went well but a little long and we go out at around six o'clock which is rush hour. We didn't want to fight the traffic so we decided to treat ourselves and get a bite to eat. Nothing fancy. Not Incognito or the steak place. I can't eat all that rich food and we didn't want to make a big production out of it. It turned out they had an old fashioned Greek diner around the corner in the middle of the block. So we went in and got a nice booth in the window. It was called "The Townhouse Diner."

It was your typical New York Greek Diner. Booths. Some tables. A bunch of old Jews arguing about nothing. Did you ever see the move "Diner" by Barry Levinson? It is set in Baltimore but it depicted diner life really well. A bunch of guys arguing about nonsense. These guys were all in their 70's or 80's and were arguing some nonsense. It seemed like they did it every day. It was background music. I felt at home. I had never been in this joint but I had eaten here many times before. If that makes any sense.

I was really happy because I could get some old fashioned diner food. First we had to whip out our phones and photograph each other. It is a rule you know. Everything in your life has to be documented and put on Facebook and Instagram. Look at this one. It's artistic and shit.

Or autistic or something.

Anyway they had the big plastic menus with all the hundreds of things you can get from omelets to filet of sole. I was starving and we made a deal to go off our diets. Which meant only one thing.

I could get the meatloaf.

Wait a minute! That's not meat loaf! No it is the cup of soup that comes with the meatloaf special. Actually it is a choice between soup or salad but I always go for the soup because I am a soup fanatic. This was nice and spicy. The best was I got to dip a butter slathered dinner roll that they put on the table along with some crackers and bread sticks. That is some good shit right there.

Then it was time for the main event. Meatloaf. Dry slices but with gravy on the side. Man that was tasty.

Of course Lisa had to dip her fries in the gravy. I also ordered my favorite side dishes. Mashed potatoes and corn. I love to put the corn over the potatoes and then ladle on the butter. Plus lots of salt and pepper which I didn't do for health reasons. But this is just about my favorite "American" dinner that my Mom used to make.

Of course Lisa got to cheat with her favorites so she got a BLT and a plate of fries on the side. Good stuff  with our new Mia Bella Dress for the spring!

All in all it was a combination of new and old. New is the photo taking with the Iphones documenting every freaking thing we do. Old is the old school ambience and the food that was homey. Some older people came in and it felt like they ate there almost every day. We had a nice conversation with the waiter and the owner. We fit right in and could be very comfortable eating there. But then we generally fit right in when we go out to eat.

I only had one real goal. Well two. To relax. And to clean my plate.

Mission accomplished!

Water under the Promenade....so to speak

Things were a lot more honest in the 1950's

Things were a lot more honest back in the 1950's. Less pretense in the relationship between men andd woman.

Things were much better before feminism came along and made everything so complicated.

But the rules are still the same.

They just don't carry the signs. They just show them. So to speak.

Call the Midwife on Dust Bunny Queen!

Child rearing techniques have really changed since I was a kid. I was talking with Dust Bunny Queen and she was telling me about how the classes that expectant moms go to are very different.

They don't even have the one run by Lucky Strike anymore.

Today's Mom's are really missing out.

Whose that Girl trying to read the wrong way?

She is trying to read but I don't think she knows how that works. She starred in a bunch of movies and came out smelling sweet. Also she was a great guest star on Batman and "The Untouchables" and a bunch of my favorite TV shows from back in the day.

A sultry slutty star of stage and screen.

Whose that girl?

Officer Brian Moore was laid to rest today. With nary a mention from Turley's blog or any of its most rabid commenters.

Officer Moore acted in the model of blue state progressive law enforcement. He rolled up on a known criminal. A known bad actor. A Michael Brown. A Freddie Grey. A Lateef Dickerson. A Demetrius Blackwell. The events of the last few months must have weighed heavy in his mind.

He did not jump out of the car with his gun drawn and throw Mr. Blackwell against the wall. He did not “disrespect” a young man by stopping and frisking him. He did not force him to lay down on the ground and “humiliate” him by having him put his hands behind his head. He did not put his knee on his back. He did not kick him in the head. Officer Moore rolled up and gently asked Mr. Blackwell what he had in his waistband.

Demetrius Blackwell pulled out a gun and shot Officer Moore in the face. Killing him.
Five police officers were shot in five months in New York. Three of them died.
There will be more to come in the long hot summer.

I don’t know if the current campaign by armchair elitists and progressive ideologues influenced Officer Moore. Maybe he was just careless and made a mistake. His record doesn’t indicate that but anything is possible. Maybe he thought he would get jammed up if he did aggressively confront a career criminal. Maybe he would be on the news. Maybe there would be a riot. Maybe the Mayor and the Commissioner and the public would throw him to the wolves. Maybe they would have said he should have just let Demetrius Blackwell go. Let him go to give him room to destroy. So maybe he hesitated. Maybe he was uncertain. Maybe he was slow. He gave Demetrius Blackwell the chance that you demand for him and other skells in post after post and comment after comment. The chance to destroy.

To destroy the community. The city. The country. Bit by bit. Stop by stop.

That is the model of blue state policing being pushed by the federalization of law enforcement under Al Sharpton and Eric Holder and Barack Obama.

(I was originally going to post this as a comment on Turley's blog but I thought it might be disrespectful to Officer Moore. So I will only post it here)

It's been a rough couple of days

It's been a rough couple of days because Lisa has not been feeling well. It is the after effects of the fall she took on April 7th. On Wednesday night she felt funny and we were worried. So we decided to go to the urgent care where Long Island College used to be because that is where we went when she fell.

When you don't feel well you imagine all kinds of things. Stroke. Aneurysms. The worst. But they confirmed it was most likely the aftereffects of the concussion. So we made an appointment to go to the NYU concussion center for future testing. All is well and we want to make sure it stays that way.

The one thing it did do is let Lisa be pampered. She likes that. She even got a wristband that said "Risk of Fall."
I told her they tagged her. And now they were going to release her into the wild.
