Looking back at all the shows...it was wild!

Lisa recently got a gig at Sulia.com where she writes about fashion and business and Brooklyn and what not.
It would be great if youse guys joined their site and "liked" Lisa's posts since she could use the step up in her profile. Also any comments you might want to throw in would be great. I want to hear from Sixty Grit about Spanx and ricpic on the new spring collection.

Anyhoo this is a composite of all the girls from WNTW who were in our shop. Actually not all of the them but a bunch. It was indeed a wild ride.

What Not to Wear is cancelled.

Well we got the news today that "What Not to Wear" was cancelled today. After ten years they have done their last make-over.

We were on the show over twenty five times and the friendship we developed with Stacy London led to her getting us our own show. But it seems the handwriting was on the wall. Make over shows are played out. There were too many copies and they wouldn't let us go in a different direction with our show as I wanted to do. So now the network is focusing on Honey Boo Boo, Sister Wives and midgets.

I do want to thank Stacy for everything she has done for us. She will be fine as she just published a popular book and has started her "Style for Hire" service. Clinton is on "The Taste" everyday and is doing fine.

Life goes on. The reruns will last forever so we will get a pump up every time they are on so there is that. Nothing lasts forever.

Shop Day one is a pain in the keister.

There are two shop days on a "What Not to Wear" shoot. Shop Day one the subject goes out on their own to find some clothes and is usually unsuccessful. So it looks like they can't find anything until Stacy and Clinton step in to help. The problem is that they always find what they want at our store if they are in for shop day one. So the narrative is messed up. Once this douchebag director had the girl walk out of our store and be filmed saying she didn't find anything when in fact she bought thousands of dollars worth of clothes. When it aired a bunch of my customers who saw it called or emailed and asked how could that be. We just said "Look at the stuff at the final reveals and you recognize a bunch of stuff from the store. They just have a narrative they have to stick to that's all."

Shop Day Two is a lot more fun as Stacy and Clinton come in and we always have a lot of fun. I put out a big spread of food for the crew and it is almost a party atmosphere. We get about seven to ten minutes of airtime and that is really great for my business. Don't get me wrong. I love those guys. They have supported us from Day one and I will do anything for them.

We are shooting a Shop Day One for the final episode for this season this week which is sorta tough in Christmas week. But they know we will always do it for them because of what they have done for us.

I just hope we get a decent director with a bit of inventiveness. That would help!

What Not To Wear will be back this week.

We just got the call that "What Not to Wear" will be filming this week. It has been a while and a lot of work but we are happy to accomidate them. It will be the twenty third time they have filmed in the store and it is always great for busniess.

But it is a lot of work in the week before Christmas.

It was a very good episode for us as she had a lot of fun with our clothes and bought a lot of them.

Heather is coming back to Lee Lee's

I don't know if you saw "What Not to Wear" this Tuesday but we were on again and the subject was Heather who got the full makeover treatment at Lee Lee's. Well she has stayed in contact with us on Facebook and Twitter and is coming to the store tonight for "Fashions Night Out."

It always feels great when someone who came because of "What Not to Wear" wants to shop in the store after the show is over.

It should be a fun night out.

Becky on WNTW at Lee Lee's Valise

So they just finished airing the season premiere of What Not to Wear that they shot at Lee Lee's Valise. Becky the assistant to Cheryl Burke from Dancing With the Stars was featured and we were shop day one.

Now we hate to be shop day one as they usually use the narrative that they can't find anything. But we were lucky and Stacy and Clinton were kind enough to say nice things about our clothes. Clinton even said that he loved the print of our "New Melissa in the Military Leopard Print."

I don't know if I had previously mentioned the incident that happened while they were filming. It seems that Jo Jo McCarthy who is the stylist to Cheryl trimmed Cheryl's extensions in our back room and left the hair on the floor. The wife came back and saw it and read them the riot act! Cheryl started to shake like a tuning fork! Jo Jo was scrambling to clean everything up. What we didn't realize was that Jo Jo is Jenny Mc Carthy's sister! So Lee Lee managed to terrorize two Hollywood types for the price of one.

All in all it was a good episode for us.

At one point Becky starts to break down. You see her go off camera as she is weeping but what you don't see is the wife went to hug her and comfort her. That's what we do. She calmed down and bought a lot of stuff. All in all it was another win-win.

Hey we are on "What Not to Wear" this Tuesday August 16th

Lee Lee's will be on the season premiere of "What Not to Wear" on TLC at 9pm EST this Tuesday August 16th.

The subject is the personal assistant of Cheryl Burke a dancer on "Dancing with the Stars." They always try to use a celebrity to kick off the season. Last season it was Mindy Cohn who also came to our store. This time they are using the personal assistant of a celebrity. The assistants job is a tough one when they have a celebrity boss. They are running around like crazy especially if the boss is a demanding one.

We ended up being shop day one which we hate but we accommodated them because they were in a bind. I hope it turns out good for the store.

What a crazy day yesterday with "What Not to Wear"

It was a crazy day yesterday. "What Not to Wear" did a day two shopping which is always a big deal. But yesterday was exceptionally rough. They had a crew of 22 people jammed in the store. Plus visitors.

My poor AC couldn't hold up. Plus it was a new crowd and they didn't know what they were doing.
There were a few old faces but the new ones were bad. They were very sloppy and I made a mistake not watching them like a hawk. I usually stay in the back room and watch what is going on there with the crew that is not involved in the filming. Plus I have no reason to be out front. When Stacy or Clinton want to talk to me they come to the back. Sometimes they use the computer or what not. But the new crew fucked up. We just noticed it today. They left stuff around like coffee cups on our antique furniture and the make up twat left a brush and some makeup out on one of the credenza's. One of the crew almost broke our big mirror and got his dirty fingerprints on the top of our dressing room which I just noticed today. I will have to talk to them. Forcefully the next time they are in.

So far they have filmed three episodes and we have been in two of them. So we might be a while before they come back. Or maybe not. If they have girls in our size range we are just about the only game in town.

When the crew finally left, Stacy and Clinton and the stylist stayed to work with the principal to try on clothes and do a fitting. They like to hang out when the crowd is gone cause it was relaxed. A couple of our regular customers came in and did some shopping. Since I have a new crew of good employee's we were able to get out early so we took two of our customers out for dinner at "Mama Maria's" that I was talking about the other day.

Then we got a call. It got even crazier.

It takes a lot to produce a TV show.

It takes a lot of people and a lot of time to produce a TV show. There are camera people and sound people and the girl who goes out for coffee. Sometimes the subject of WNTW get's lost in the shuffle. So I always take them aside and let them know if they need anything like some water or something to eat. They are always very appreciative.

We are in contact with many of the girls who shopped in the store after their episode aired. They become part of our extended family.

As it should be.

It is a long day!

It is boiling hot in NYC today and with the crew of twenty and all the hot lights my air conditioning didn't work for shit. So I have to go yell at the Russian guy who serviced my air conditioner to find out WTF!

Even Clinton started to run out of steam and he is usually at the top of his game. It was just way too hot.

I haven't seen him this distressed since a crazed stalker professor cornered him a few years ago.

WNTW is finished filming!

It was a very busy day. The subject was pretty tall and loved the clothes they put her in. We worked with one of our favorite stylists so everything went pretty smoothly even though it is a lot of work.

Stacy and Clinton hung around after the shooting to help her sort through her purchases as to what she is going to wear in the reveals.

They are back!

They already filmed one episode of 'What Not to Wear" two weeks ago at the store and they are doing another this week. I think. The new production staff is not up to par so we shall see what we shall see.

It makes for a very busy time.

Lee Lee's Valise on What Not to Wear Tuesday April 5th

Lee Lee's Valise will be featured on TLC's "What Not to Wear" this Tuesday at 8pm. The subject is Carly from New Jersey you loves to wear her daughters clothes which just don't fit. She got a whole bunch of great stuff from the store so we will really be showcased. Oh I did not do any bra fitting. Just sayn'

The Seasons over and we did ok!

Well they finished shooting the new season of What Not to Wear and we made it on twice. Which is about our average so we are very happy.

And very grateful and humble for all the business we get when people see the store on the show. This season it seems we have one great show and one not so much. But that's ok because any mention is a big help.

Behind the scenes!

TV stuff is all hurry up and wait. They have an enormous crew for a simple shoot like this. Hair and makeup, lighting, sound, cameramen, stylists, assistants and what not.

I just think that sometimes less is more. But hey that's just me.

It was a crazy week.

We had a crazy week with the filming of "What Not to Wear" which turned the store upside down. But it was a great episode for us as the subject loved our clothes and bought a lot of stuff that was used in the final reveal. In fact our Lisa Wrap in the Red Paisley will be the final reveal dress when she meets her family which is really cool.

All the work is really worth it for the publicity and business we get from it.

I am very grateful and humble that they keep coming back.

What a busy, busy day!

We were so freakin busy. What Not to Wear filmed again for about the eighteen time. Plus it snowed. So I had to yell at everybody to clean their feet and run after them with a mop when they came in and out of the store.

The shoot went great and the subject loved the clothes so we should do really well. But it is exhausting. We spent two late nights getting the store ready and now that they are gone we have put the store back to normal.

Hey it wasn't the best episode with Mindy Cohn on What Not to Wear but we have to take what we can get. And we are very grateful for the publicity.

Now Mindy had some definite ideas about what she wanted to wear and it was evident in the reveals. NONE OF THE REVEAL OUTFITS WERE FROM OUR STORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just so you know.

She did wear a jade Maxi dress and our Obi sash belt at the end of the episode but all of the clothes that she wore (especailly the one when she met her friends) did not ....I repeat...did not

come from Lee Lee's Valise.

Now they always use a celebrity to kick off the season and this year they used Mindy Cohn from the "Facts of Life."
