An Alternative world.

I just finished the second book in Taylor Anderson’s alternative history series called “Destroymen: Crusade.” This series is about two World War Two destroyers that are mysteriously sent to an alternative universe to an alternative earth with the same geography as our own. But in this world the dinosaurs were never wiped out and two sentient races developed. The Lemurians who are a cat like or lemur like race that allies itself with the humans and a lizard or dinosaur race of savages called the Grik.

The USS Walker and the badly damaged USS Mahon work to help in this battle for survival. Because the Grik do not mean to just defeat the Lemurians, they mean to totally destroy. To the point they will actually eat them. Holy cow! So to speak.

In Crusade, he has upped the ante. The Japanese cruiser that the Americans were dueling with before they entered the “Squall” that transported them to this parallel world has also been transported and has allied itself with the odious Grik. So the technological advantage has shifted.

The battle scenes and the descriptions of the conflict a ship full of men transported to another world are really first rate. I think this series is well worth a look.

Meet the Flintstones

Dino became part of the glam-rock movement and started his own band. They put on a lot of makeup and feather boas and leather chaps. He collabarated on several albums. He was an important inspiration to many of the younger generation. In fact that is why the young Marc Bolan named his band T-Rex. He idolized Dino to the point that he would let the randy reptile tea bag him between shows. Dino wrote several seminal songs in the glam rock era. He was the uncredited author of Ride a White Swan and All the Young Dudes which was originally about Dino’s adventures in the loo at Charing Cross Station. T-Rex was one of the most influential bands of the era and started the movement of large arena bands that toured playing the same music since 1968. That’s why it’s called dinosaur rock.

The Dinosauers are screwing me!

The atmosphere of sexual depravity that was the Jetsons set eventually affected everyone on the show. George had his disgusting relationship with Judy the girl that played his daughter on the show. Jane enjoyed having the grips and best boy pee on her in her trailer during coffee breaks. Young Elroy turned Rosie the Robot into an anatomically correct sex robot. But as usual the worst was Astro. We shared a lot with the Flintstones who had similar problems with sex, drugs and drinking. Producing cartoon shows on such a schedule led to blowing off a lot of steam. Astro just couldn’t handle the pressure. Even his constant obscene phone calls and filthy letters to the editor were not enough. So he started a homosexual relationship with Dino from the Flintstones. We were forced to endure the sight of his trailer rocking wildly while Astro was being anally penetrated by Dino and screaming “The Dinosaurs, the Dinosaurs are screwing me.”

The weirdest Custer story of them all!

The weirdest Custer story of them all?

No question about it. It is the "The Year the Cloud Fell " by Kurt R.A. Giambastiani. In it the Indians never are defeated and Custer is scouting in a dirigible which crashes over hostile territory. He falls in love with an Indian princess who bears him a child. Eventually he escapes back to American soil where he eventually runs for President and is elected. So he decides to negotiate a peace treaty with the leaders of the great Indian nations. Which include his bastard son. There is a series of four books in which this incredible story unfolds.

Oh and they ride dinosaurs. Yes that's right you wing nuts. Dinosaurs were never extinct and they were bred for riding.

I wish Luckyoldson would read it. His head would explode.
