What the fuck do you know?

Did you ever listen to someone spout off about something they know nothing about. It happens all the time. A reporter talks about what it is like to be a cop facing a life and death situation. A Mike Wallace or a Walter Cronkite talks about what it is to be a soldier. A guy like President Obama talks about what it is like to be a patriotic American. It is just a joke.

It is that way about fashion. I mean I was forced to learn a lot about fashion because of the store. Not the avaunt Gard runway bullshit but the down in the trenches selling ready to wear. Where the fucking rubber meets the road. I deal with weight issues every fucking day. I really hate when fucking idiots talk about something they nothing about. But I will not dive in to comment.

It's better to let Carrot Top perform. It's not really comedy. It is a tragedy really. But some people like to watch it. You just can't tell people anything.

I know a fair bit about skid marks too. Best ignored.

I did chip. But some kind soul emailed me the whole fat people post.

It made for interesting reading.

I didn't see the comments. Just the post.

Jeeez.

Troop, you have to let it go. You told me that once. Living well is the best revenge.

Troop, I hadn't realized you were talking about a specific TOP post.

I was just referring to the everyday experience there.

What's blowhard like me to do if I can't spout off about stuff what I don't know squat about? Shut up? Never!

Oh, did she do the fat thing again? Prepping the battlespace?

If fortunate, we outlive our body's beauty and functionality. It's a good fight to stave it off as long as possible, but all flesh is as the grass.

But I guess that has more to do with the top post than this.

Is there a subtle message here...

There's nothing worse than the graceless aging of someone who thought they were hot stuff or someone who really took for granted the power of youthful beauty.

Now, me, I was never a head turner, even in my prime. I had a little envy at the time, but, now reaching 40, I'm beginning to really appreciate the benefits of my lot in life. All things considered, I'm aging pretty well. And the decline from my youthful peak is relatively modest, so it hasn't been much of an ego adjustment.

But I'm starting to see some of my friends scramble.

And some blog posts just have that whiff of je ne sais quoi about them.

For women, IMO only, it depends on whether you have daughters or just sons.

You reach a point where you must face the reality that you are no longer the young nubile cute 'thang' that you used to be. You see your daughter(s) being or becoming what you used to be in your prime. If you have sons, you aren't forced to face this reflection in the mirror of your older versus the younger living version of you.

How you handle it is the key. You can accept it with grace and deal with your new aging body and face and your new position in the pecking order of life. Decide that being a mature woman with some miles on you isn't a bad thing at all. OR.... You can do the graceless things. You can be jealous and try to grasp and hang on to your youth and put your own children down.

For me. I was proud and happy for my daughter. I had my turn at that stage of life and now it was HER turn to be the belle of the ball and the center of attention. Now that she has had that turn, and is now a mother....I'm reveling in my new turn at being a Grandmother.

Turn, turn, turn.

Every morning my 40 year old mind sees my 63 year old face in the bathroom mirror and asks itself "What the hell happened??"
