Ted Cruz told the truth.....and so did The Donald?
Ted Cruz was spot on when he was talking about "New York Values." As a rabid right wing conservative I have to hide my views from everyone I come in contact with in New York. Other than the guys who I grew up with who all feel the same. There is an underground conservative subculture here in NYC but the prevalent values of those of Andy Cuomo and Comrade Bill De Blasio. Trump knows how to maneuver in that climate. He swims in it comfortably as a Real Estate Shark.
Trump has the values of an upper East Side Jewish Real Estate developer. That is his milieu. That is his bailiwick. Very socially liberal but suspicious of the schwatzes and the latino's. His eyes are wide open don't kid yourself.
Cruz's apology was a thing of beauty. He laid it right out. He doesn't have to worry about the Times or Cuomo or anyone else who would never vote for him in a million years. Trump did that for him. He can give zero fucks and word it as strong as he wants. Because Trump will say something even tougher.
I wouldn't cry crocodile tears like the pansies in the press and New York Politicians did about Cruz. They dis the rest of country enough as it is. They should just take the hit and hit back if they want. That is what a man does.

In NYC you're a "rabid right wing conservative" - in most of the country you're mainstream.
Wherever you find extreme liberals you get "New York Values". SF/Seattle/West LA/Hollywood values are even worse.
I figured you'd appreciate Cruz's apology. He's quick and witty.
This will badly hurt Trump if his fan base starts to associate him with de Blasio and Cuomo. There is such a thing as bad New York values (it's related to Titus's Boston values).
I could never vote for Cruz for reasons I hinted at back Lem's a while ago: link I don't think that anything's changed. Deep down, Ted has Goldman Sachs values which translates to erasing international borders. Now, he'll say anything to get elected. In that way, he's the Hillary Clinton of the right.
We need to stop electing Senators with law degrees to POTUS. On the other hand, I've always thought that Cruz would be an outstanding SCOTUS Justice.
Noonan's description of Hillary's voice hit the mark. When we heard her on an ad tonight during the football game, MrM and I both started laughing, as she sounded just like Noonan's portrayal in the form of written word "chirbit" that could be heard in the imagination:
Democrats who like her all say the same thing: She’s having trouble because she’s not really good at campaigning. That’s true as far as it goes. She is especially poor at the podium, where, when she wants to emphasize an applause line, her voice becomes loud, flat and harassing to the ear. She lately reminds me of the landlady yelling up the stairs that your kids left their bikes in the hall again. Literally that’s how it sounds: “And we won’t let them roll back the progress we’ve made. Your kids left their bikes in the hall.”
As for Cruz, the PN had this to say, which I left over at Lem's because it brought to mind the preening of Meade:
The second thing she (Hillary) and Mr. Cruz are both learning, I suspect, is something most people learn by their 20s: It matters what people think of you. It’s important that people have a high opinion of your essential integrity, trustworthiness and good faith. It matters that they like you. Mr. Cruz, when challenged by Mr. Trump, could have used some backup from prominent Republicans, but they didn’t throw him a lifeline. John McCain: “I am not a constitutional scholar on that, but I think it’s worth looking into.” You know why Mr. Cruz had no backup? Because almost no one who works with him likes him. They haven’t experienced him as a trustworthy person of good faith. They waited, as people do, for a chance to hurt him, and when they got it they did.
