Hey we are just keeping at it.....

I am really busy....you see we have to keep at it as best as we can. I am trying to set up podcasts for Lisa to do to hold onto our fans. We are huge in Canada for some reason. BBC loves the show and is marketing it for overseas distribution. So who knows? We could be big in Europe and that will drive the engine. We are pulling out all stops to keep the momentum going as best as we can.

It is exhausting but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I spoke with Meade the other day. He was astonished when I showed him the TY logo and told him I did that. I offered to mass produce some "Don't Tread On Meade" buttons for him. I bought a sketchbook because I have two sketches planned out in my head. These are creative outlets for me.

I know it would be interesting to hear about you dinner with the Althouse's so any tibits you might share would be interesting to many here.

Of course you should respect the confidentiality of the meeting and not talk about anything you don't think is appropriate.

I think enough time has gone by for tempers to cool but I have no desire to go back there. I don't believe in going backwards. I only want to go forwards.

But it would be nostalgic.

Like talking about yo-yo's or hula hoops or when the Green Bay Packers had a championship team. You know the past.

Did I tell you lately that the New York Giants won the Super Bowl?

If everything goes according to plan tomorrow, I'll have some pictures of my new toy! It's like way totally cool.

Is it the jeep?

AllenS said...

No, Chip, it isn't. It's something that I've wanted for a long time. The guy who owns the new toy just called me, and said he couldn't get it started. So, tomorrow, I'll drive up to Rutledge, MN and see if I can get it going. It turns over fine, I hear, but isn't firing. Gas or spark is the problem.

It's a 1955, so nothing fancy. I'll take off the distributor cap and use some emery cloth on the points and then check the gap. Should be .021-.022. Check the plugs. Gap should be .025. Turn it over and see if there's spark. Friend says the gas is good.

Sounds like fun.

A '55 what? Not one of those Russian cars, I hope.

It was made in Dubuque, Iowa.

MamaM said...

Does it run like a deer?

AllenS said...

Yep, but it's not a tractor.

MamaM said...

Forget the running comment. If or when it's started, would it be considered green?

AllenS said...

Yes, but not save the planet green.

MamaM said...

Will it look good to Charlene?

AllenS said...

OMG! Do you mean Tassy?

MamaM said...

close but no cigar???

AllenS said...

That's it, Mama!

AllenS said...

Also, mine has a blade in front. JD also makes a JD 40 tractor, but a 40C means crawler/dozer.

Aw crap, I tend not to be an envious individual, especially when it comes to another man's tools, but damn, AllenS, that is awesome! You have done well.

Let the terraforming begin!

Wow! We need a "Push Dirt Around, Drink Beer, And Shoot Stuff" meetup at Allen's place.

AllenS said...

OK -- I'm off to Rutledge, MN to try and get the 40C running and get it back here. I'll report back later.

Still half a hour of daylight left...waiting on the Evening Farm and Tractor report. Wondering if ignition was realized.

Can't figure out Tassy reference (sarcastic or real?) but here's the song to pass time:

They were farm kids way down in Dixie
They met in high school in the sixties
Everyone knew it was love from the start
One July in the midnight hour
He climed up on the water tower
Stood on the rail and painted a 10ft heart
In John Deere green

On a hot summer night
He wrote Billy Bob loves Charlene
In letters 3 foot high
And the whole town said that he should have used red
But it looked good to Charlene
In John Deere green

They settled down on 80 acres
Raising sweet corn,kids and tomaters
They went together like a hand and a glove
On a clear day from their front yard
If you look and know what to look for
Off to the east you can still read his words of love
In John Deere green

Now more then once the town has dicovered
Painting over it ain't no use
There ain't no paint in the world that'll cover it
The heart keeps showing through
In John Deere green

Got the dozer home. It took about 5 minutes to get started. Cleaned off the points and then set them at .022 and it fired right up. Took about 2 hours to get the thing on the trailer, maybe longer. Too dark for pictures, but tomorrow I'll have some. WOO HOO!

Here are two pictures of my 1955 John Deere 40C crawler/dozer. I put my Jeep next to it so you could get a better idea of it's size. Notice the sag in the tracks. Not good, should be 1 1/2 inches. Just finished power washing it off to work on. Next, I have to build some kind of wooden floor to put on top of my cement slab so I don't chew the cement up.

Nice.

That kind of toy makes work fun. Or playtime productive.

One of those.
