Hey I didn't touch any tits I wasn't supposed to!

I am super.

Thanks for asking.

I've heard that Facebook is where all the real Obama support is.

My bride just published a novel she has worked very hard on for a decade. It's now available on Amazon. She had a NYC agent who fucked her around so she self published. It will be available on kindle is a week or so, paperback now. It's set in Madison and involves 2 female friends. One a university employee who is a drug addict and her faithful friend who is an attorney. There is a murder. Taken For Granted is the title. It's more a women's novel but men can enjoy it if they get in touch w/ their feminine side.

Trooper York said...

Hey ND I will promote it on Twitter and in the blog. And I will buy it as soon as it comes out. Is it available on Kindle yet?

Michael Haz said...

@Nick - is ther a manly, chisled, dective character in the novel? One who has neckties and so forth?

chickelit said...

@Nick: maybe Troop knows somebody in NYC you could "soften up" that publisher.

MRS. SPINELLI'S HONOR

Taken for granted, the story of my life,
Oh thankless the role of a mother and wife;
No wonder I turned to hard drugs and the knife,
For where is the woman can bear it sans strife.

I got in touch with my feminine side a while back. Have a date to settle the sexual harassment suit coming up shortly...

New chirbit character seen on Althouse: link

chickelit said...

That link was supposed to go to the very end of the thread. Oh well: Simon retorts Chip S.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, Thanks much. It means a lot. She put a lot of work into this. It's available on Amazon in paperback now, kindle in a week or two.

ndspinelli said...

Haz, I was consulted some on Taken For Granted, but there is no PI in it. However, the agent pushed her to have a follow-up in the can and that one does have a PI, so he is realistic..and well hung! That is in final editing and should be out this summer. The paperback has a nice photo of my beautiful bride. I married way up!

ndspinelli said...

Bruce, The agent is the one Anthony Bourdain uses. I bet she doesn't give him any shit and returns his calls!

MamaM said...

Reading about it here is one thing, ND, seeing it there in print ready for order is another! Congratulations to the author on her accomplishment and to the two of you for finding a way to maintain and support this kind of work and creative expression, from seed idea to published completion.

In an odd way, the hours involved in "sleuthing" and putting pieces together to form a story, seems like different version of the work you were doing--like the other shoe in a matched pair?

Whatever the case, thanks for dropping the news here. Thinking off all it represents gives me a happy feeling.

MamaM said...

From the descriptions listed, the book sounds interesting; the author even more so!

Great title, too.

Trooper York said...

I read the blurb that MamaM posted. Way cool.

I want to get it on kindle as soon as it is posted.

Congratulations to your bride.

chickelit said...

That looks like a nice piece of delft blue china smashed on the cover, Nick. Is there a story behind that or is a spoiler?

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Titus might like this...

ndspinelli said...

Bruce, It is not a spoiler per se but a symbol of a broken friendship. I wanted to break the cup but my wife said I was too heavy handed. The photographer is a former classmate of my daughter who also shot her wedding. She's good and has built quite a biz from scratch @ age 26.

ndspinelli said...

MamaM, You are a kind and wise soul. I'm a motivator, honed from coaching baseball for 30 years. We support our spouses out of love, so it's easy. We know Trooper has done it, I have no doubt you and everyone here has. That's what we pledge on our wedding day. It's what we're supposed to do. And yes, my bride has lead an interesting life. But, can you imagine our poor 2 children having a psychology probation officer and PI for parents? Their friends could pull shit off regularly and ours were constantly mystified how they couldn't. Particularly my son.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, Thanks. Amazon says kindle by 6/21. And for those who read it, Both I and my bride want HONEST critiques..HONEST! Thanks.

ndspinelli said...

I just had a dust up w/ lawnboy on yesterday's Amazon post you might enjoy.

I saw that Nick. I think you hit a sore spot with Meade. Remember Althouse saying how she wished Meade would sit down and write something like a novel? It's gotta hurt.

And as far as your shilling over there--I don't see the problem. It's pretty smart actually. There is a cohort of people over there interested in creative writing and interested in things Madison. How better to reach them?

I just got off the phone with Ron who is in the hospital. He's got a great ear for observing the people around him and I encouraged him to write some of it up and put it at Ambiance, his favorite blog.

The Dude said...

I hope Ron is doing okay - I had a bad weekend but avoided going to the hospital. Heck, I was able to mow the front yard this morning - so I am having a much better day than any day one spends in a hospital.

Say hey for the gang here at Troop's place - Ron always seemed like a good guy.

MamaM said...

Heh... Scary Sharpe...We notice. We appreciate it. And only if you email us your digital fingerprints will we know it's you.

Perfect opening and place to mark the book.

Altazon was a good fit too. Reminded me of AltaVista from the pre-Google days.

And that covers what??? Anything from a kangaroo sitting on the chest rather than the elephant, to the fact that the SuperGlue held when applied a deep and jagged laceration?

Take care of yourself, Sixty. You were missed the last time you disappeared.

ndspinelli said...

Bruce, Thanks. I commented again today on the Amazon post. It's part biz and part ballbust. The guy really isn't a businessman and obviously his "feed off the public trough" wife isn't either.

ndspinelli said...

And, I didn't know about her wanting Meade to write a novel. And, although maybe never expressed, she also would love to write one. But, it's hard work, requires introspection, and is filled w/ criticism and rejection. Fragile egos need not apply.

The Dude said...

MamaM - your comment made me laugh - kangaroo indeed!

No, nothing heart related, in my family that's usually a rather short story - ow, clunk. The docs did take a very thorough look at my coronary arteries a few years ago since they were going to be operating on my heart the next day and figured why not kill two stones with one bird, so to speak, and they saw no blockages.

No, I had an extremely painful gut event which resulted in me going into shock. What might have caused such kidney-stone-like pain you ask (and since I have had a kidney stone in the past from such pain I know)? A mere dietary indiscretion, that's what. I ate half a piece of pumpernickel bread from a baker I trust, or at least used to trust. Three days later I am still not well.

Did I mention that I only eat food that I prepare. That's why - the slightest thing can result in, well, not death, merely the longing for death so that the pain will stop.

Okay, that's an exaggeration - I knew that the pain would pass, but when one goes into shock time does seem to slow down. Drag on, even.

Anyway, time passes, life goes on, right up until it doesn't and in the mean time, I continue to watch what I eat like a hawk - nothing but rats and baby bunnies. That's the ticket! Yum!

Trooper York said...

Sounds like diverticulitis Sixty.

That's bad shit man. Everybody in Lisa's family has that and can not eat anything with seeds or nuts or whatever.

Trooper York said...

It's funny that you said you only want to eat stuff you prepare.

The wife is very fussy now and hates to eat out. She prefers for me to cook but sometimes I am too tired.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

I think lawnboy purged it. I might be looking in the wrong place.

ndspinelli said...

Evi, He didn't purge my plugs on the book, they're in yesterdays and now todays Amazon posts. I really should put the plugs in posts that people actually read.

chickelit said...

Everybody in Lisa's family has that and can not eat anything with seeds or nuts or whatever.

This would devastate Titus so let's hope he never catches it.

Sixty, can you eat strawberries?

The Dude said...

No fruit, no nuts, no vegetables, no rice, minimal amounts of carbos, but after doing without bread for 15 years based on a misdiagnosis, I now eat bread, but only from two bakeries. Used to bake my own, but when I was told I could no longer have gluten, I forgot the recipe.

I have had every type of test they can run short of an autopsy, and my gut appears to be fine, at least from what the docs can see with their various scopes. I even got to swallow one of those tiny cameras once - it was all Fantastic Voyage, only there was no Raquel Welch. More's the pity.

Even with all that I am not close to being considered skinny. Obamacare no doubt considers me obese. Since I am old, that hardly matters - once they look at my political beliefs I will be sent to the death camps anyway. It's good to have a positive outlook on life, I always say...

Nick, I've ordered the book. Looking forward to reading it later this month. I didn't go through AA's portal, though. That seems like something a monogamous man shouldn't be doing.

Sixty, that sounds awful! And yeah, I understand what it's like being on the likely-to-be-killed-by-ObamaCare list. Not fun.

ndspinelli said...

Haz, Thanks very much. If you like this book the second one will be more manly.

The Dude said...

What do you do when you are feelin' po'ly? Watch old movies - just saw Baby Face, from 1933 - Barbara Stanwyck plays the title character. One of the guys mackin' on her at the office is Duke Wayne. Marion is all of 26 when this was made. Workin' in the office. Oh yeah.

chickelit said...

Wayne couldn't yet aFord fame.

Trooper York said...

The Duke did bang Babs though.

He was a player.
