There is a name for people who hate the New York Yankees. Who revel in their misfortune and hope for their demise. Who are jealous of their success and hate on their future Hall of Fame players of class and distinction like Derek Jeter.
You know what they call those people?

Here is to the old rivalries.
Horace Clark had the misfortune of playing w/ the Yanks during the dark years. He was my favorite player during that era.
Here's to ndspinelli--one of the rare NYY fans who can't be called a frontrunner.
Tip o' the cap, nd.
Now that I've gotten that sportsmanship shit out of the way, fuck 'em. Mariano's ok, but that's where I draw the line.
I don't hate the Yankees but there are quite a few Yankees Suck bumper stickers around Boston.
Hate will kill ya.
tits.
ChipS, Thanks but in the interest of full disclosure, I left the Yankees when Steinbrenner bought them and I moved to KC, becoming a Royals fan. I have now evolved into merely a baseball fan. I follow the Brewers and like them, but fandom in any sport is no longer in me. I was loyal to the Yanks during the dark years and left them during their return to "glory". Maybe I'm just a quixotic idiot.
nd--All baseball is good. It's just better when the Sox beat the Yanks.
See, Titus? There's a lot of room b/w indifference and hate.
The Yankees are terrible oppressors in themselves and are also the natural team for terrible oppressors everywhere. This is understood in the blood by all the sons of Brooklyn with the exception of the twisted sons who were instructed early in life before they could get their heads straight to love the terrible oppressors and hate Dem Bums.
