Netflix's is the only thing saving TV viewing for me these days. I mean I am off most commercial programing. It has all become too sordid and politically correct. We have taped every Hallmark Christmas movie and watch one every night. But occasionally we want something little less frothy so we pick a series on Netfix to binge watch.
Now if those shows are little rougher it is fine because you picked it and are expecting it. Some of the shows we have enjoyed included Harry Bosch, The Fall, Happy Valley and Broadchurch. All adsorbing dramas. Last night we found a new one called "River."
The premise is that a detective is investigating the murder of his partner who appears to him as "manifestation" or basically a ghost. The detective is played by Stellan Skarsgard who played the mad scientist in Thor and the Avengers. The ghost partner is Nicola Walker who is the great actress from "Last Tango in Halifax." She is a superb actress and really does a stellar job here.
The show is very atmospheric and cool and I highly recommend it.
It beats the shit out of "Hawaii Five O" or "Blue Bloods." That's for shit sure.
