Let go Damon and Matsui, two great clutch hitters, and pick up Granderson. Plus, Jeter and Posada and that fabulous closer are all one year older. It's gonna be a l-o-o-o-n-g year for Yankee fans. But enjoy the anticipation. And don't tell me the Mets are crap. I know they're crap. Just say'n your genius Cashman DID NOT strengthen his team in the off-season.

Cashman is just following Branch Rickey's old adage that you get rid of a guy one year early rather than one year too late! Damon and Matsui were breaking down and were basically DH's anyway. They can let Posada DH a lot more and Nick Johnson has a great on base percentage as well as a super glove to back up first base. Plus Johnson gets hurt a lot but only when he plays the field which won't be that often.
Jeter is in the last year of his contract so even though he never sloughs it off he especially won't do it this year. We also added Vasquez who was the Braves best pitcher last year and is now the fourth best pitcher on the Yankees.
We can afford to carry Garner in center for defense, you don't have to have an allstar at every position even though that is what every fan expects the Yankees to do every year. You see the Yankees can't do anything right. Fans of the other teams cry like bitches when they buy players but when they follow a budget and don't sign some guys because they ain't worth the money then those same fans bitch at them and say they can't win anyway.
Don't worry if the Yankees are struggling and need to add a bat or a pitcher at mid-season, well they will do it no problem.
Oh and by the way. Carlos Beltran just had another operation.

Well, I can't think of anything clever so all I'll say is you never know.
