Summertime is vacation time.....

And I wish we were back in Seatuck. We decided to go back for another week in August. We will be by ourselves this time as Chuck and Amy are too busy. We will miss them.

But you have to take your vacation when you can enjoy it.

We plan to take a variation on this photo every year.

Stylin'....and chillin'....summer is indeed here!

What happened to Stonehenge? Did the Germans deface it as a shrine to Albion?

Where's Darcy? We want Warrior Dash updates.

I survived! I believe I crossed the finish line between 50 minutes and an hour, which is a big improvement over 1:23 last year!

I made all the obstacles and actually did run the whole race this year. My sister and BIL were with me and they had a blast. They've both been running/working out for at least 10 years and they said it was harder than they thought. My sister crossed the finish line a couple of seconds before me. I had so much more fun this year and will do it again next year!

Warriors!

You rock Darcy!

Darcy said...

Thanks! If I'm under an hour when the race results are posted, I'll celebrate! This unofficial time is based on my BIL's estimates. He crossed at 38:20.

It's just tough. Running and then climbing and crawling, swimming, etc. But very fun this year because I'm way more fit than last year. And at least 30 lbs lighter.

Way to go kid! Did you carbo load? My brother was a chef in Boston for years and said you couldn't have enough pasta on hand marathon week.

Darcy said...

I did carb load. I'd seen all sorts of advice on when to do this, but I chose the evening before the race. I have found that often on my "cheat" days - days on which I don't stick to my diet and have too many carbs - that my run goes really well the next morning. I've had my fastest times after these carbapaloozas; however, I obviously can't do this every day or I'd gain/quit losing weight.

So anyway, that's what I did. Spaghetti w/Italian sausage. Yum.

And thanks, Nick!

56:21.30!!

I'm really happy with that! There was one more obstacle this year than last.

We are all very proud of you Warrior Darcy.

Good job Ms. Darce. You ate your fodder and you were a good mudder.

With apologies to Abbottobad and Costellinator.

Darcy said...

Aww, thanks Sixty and Allen.

The rain?

And at least 30 lbs lighter.

30 lbs of honest display waisted away?

Darcy said...

Sheesh. No kidding. As I've not so subtly talked about, you can't pick where you lose it. I wish I still had more honesty to display in some areas.

I'm smaller than I was in high school - can you believe that? Running is such an efficient way to shape up. But more importantly, overall, I'm so much healthier. I feel great. Counting blessings here for sure.

I want to add a little bit about my sister Moira. We have always been close, and she's always been the beauty of my family - just no contest. She's just lovely and slim and beautiful. I've always been proud of my sister. We are more than sisters - we're friends.

Well, she's been fit a lot longer than me as I wrote earlier. I know she can run faster than me. Before the race, I told both her and my BIL to just go and make their best times. I didn't want them to wait for me. My BIL took that to heart, but my sister wouldn't leave me. She pushed me the whole way, telling me to keep running when I was tired. Even near the finish line when we finished the 20 foot cargo net she waited for me and grabbed my hand to run together.

What a sweet sister I have, huh? :)

The Dude said...

Aw, that's a great story. You are very fortunate, indeed.

Darcy said...

Thank you, Sixty.

Oh! I bought an oversized tank top to throw on over my muddy stuff after the race. On the front of it, I wrote in glittery paint: Love wins.

Good for you Darcy!

Congrats Darcy, yes you do have a sweet sister! OK now back to self imposed exile;).

Congratulations, Darcy!
And you do have a great sister!

Darcy said...

You all are the sweetest! Thank you.

And hi, Allie. :)

Hi Darcy!

AllenS said...

Allie, how is your health?

Anonymous said...

Hi Allen, doing much better, flare up seems to be over, thanks to some steroids:) and I didn't even get roid rage. Thanks for asking.

The Dude said...

Yeah, corticosteroids are helpful, but you don't have the fun of having things jammed in your ass in a bathroom stall like you would with anabolic steroids.

But at least they do damage one's internal organs, so there is that.

CL could draw a picture of the atomic structure - goin' all covalent and alkyl side chain and so on for us. Me, I can read about them, and I must say, while I don't care for the side effects of corticosteroids, I certainly appreciate that they exist when I need them.

Glad you are doing better.

Thanks Gritty!

I'm also glad that you are doing better.

Thanks to you too Allen, the handy dandy tool guy;)

You guys wanted a muddy shot from the Warrior Dash. Here you go.

Both my sister and I have mud dripping from our mouths. Glam.

Anonymous said...

Darcy, both you and your sister are gorgeous, even with muddy mouths! And your BIL is very handsome.

Darcy said...

Kind of you, Allie. :)

I'm glad you're doing better!

AllenS said...

Nice pic, Darcy. See, Allie, look what a nice mud bath can do for your health.

chickelit said...

Nice! I don't get how you get mud in your mouth. Is it from splashing in puddles or running behind someone else?

Darcy said...

The last bit of the race is shallow, muddy water that you have to swim through under barbed wire. Some of the barbed wire required you to dip at least half of your head in the water. I didn't even know I got water in my mouth. Ick. And then you jump up and run past the finish line! =)

The Dude said...

Lookin' good, Ms. Darce. I expected more mud, but that was just kind of a dream, you know... ;^)

Darcy said...

Hehehe. Sixty.

Okay. The race photo link is here. My bib number is 32913. If you go to the slideshow on the right you can enlarge them a little, but since these are proofs, the enlargement is not very big either.

I love these pics! I'm not usually happy with pics of me, but I look like I'm having fun and the pics of my sister and me jumping over the fires are way too fun.

I just feel blessed to be able to run and jump and climb. I'm going to keep doing it until I can't. And then I'll never grow up, regardless. ;-)

The Dude said...

The fire jumping pictures are great - worth framing.

Darcy said...

Thanks, Sixty.

I'm going to order those and the last muddy pic. And the pic of me doing the viking sign while running.

You guys are kind to indulge my Warrior Dash stuff. Thank you.

Trooper, next year, we have the pool noodles with us in the shot.
