Sometimes you just want some mindless fun...so you beat up a Real Housewife.

When I am busy I don't have time to put together a post that would be interesting. I usually search out a good photo and plan a post or a little story about it when I have some time to be creative. But now that I have access to a Ipad I sometimes just want to snark out a line or two. So I comment places that doesn't require a lot of brain power. You know. Like Lem's joint.

Mostly I have been indulging myself commenting at this TV site called PreviouslyTV. It is the successor site to Television Without Pity and believe or not I have lasted more than my two week average without getting banned. I have been busy trolling the Carole Radizwill thread since she is so many things I despise. A skinny twat who is a journalist and totally politically correct and related to the Kennedys. So many things to snark such little time. I have been having fun there and it allows me to comment mindless and not worry about all the shit I have going on.

Or I can go to Lem's and bust on Deborah. Either way it is just good clean fun.

Maybe you'll get an invite to The Compound for Labor Day. That heroin addict married Sheryl Hines there a few weekends ago. He's already fucking around on her.

Is Meade "ginning things up" tonight at Lem's: link

MamaM said...

Pot Stirring!

This is the picture Inga's been using, as a way around the civility rule over at Jonathan Turley's, when she thinks someone has trumped her at pot stirring. Which makes me wonder if she may have picked up some useful techniques from the master during her internship at TY's. That the child looks like cross between the orphan in the basket pictured here and a younger version of her red dressed older self, seems to have escaped notice, which puts this latest tactic into the category of ginning, spinning, and believing oneself to be no more or less decent or pot stirring than another.

MamaM said...

chickelit--from the link and context, I am unable to see how is is possible to determine whether "vza" is male or female, a lurker or a liar.

It's weird when that stuff happens, Sometimes it seems like there is a sub game going on, with Lem's place serving as the grotto in the bunny mansion.

chickelit said...

Has Meade really known Lem for 10 years? Lem's blogger profile is from 2008.

MamaM said...

She's been blogging for 10 years, with the NYT article (2009) stating that Meade met her "about four years ago" so it's possible for him to have known Lem for 9 years if Lem was there when Meade happened along.

The whole thing is weird and his conclusion is off. From what I've observed, it isn't safe or true to say that Lem is no more or less decent and authentic than Meade is.

TTBurnett said...

I've followed AA pretty closely from the 4th month she was blogging until becoming completely disgusted in June, 2010. So, I'm vaguely familiar with the historical cast of characters, even though I have made efforts to forget quite a few.

There have been some brief, shining moments over the years, with intelligent, thoughtful and interesting commenters. But those have been very brief, sabotaged, directly or indirectly by AA herself, always with the obvious end to stir the pot and increase numbers.

Lem was not there as early as LM, who seems to have shown up promptly. Don't know if LM was among her founding commenters, but he was established by the time I started commenting regularly, about a year after I discovered her. I, too, was a lurker for a while. Lem came in a little before Trooper, or about the same time, if I remember right, which was a year or two later. Trooper, et al., missed all the fun with insane assholes such as Sippican Cottage, who was a very talented guy with obvious problems, mostly, I suspect, contained within rectangular glass enclosures. I was a terrible commenter--too wordy to no effect. But there also was no mercy. I should have stopped commenting, my natural writing style not inclining to the accepted norm of a low-information—or perhaps low-IQ—P.J. O’Rourke. Short snark, proving your bona fides as a True Conservative was the only way to have a happy life in Althousia. Except, of course, you had to put up with Luckyoldson.

That’s why Sir Archy came by and told me to do differently. But that is an entire other tale. RAA was the original Official Historian, and she might have some recollections. I suspect by now she may have as much amnesia as the rest of us, perhaps arriving at the squirm-worthy realization that the foundress is as psychotic as any Twitter-inspired lunatic(k) we’ve been reading about elsewhere in Lem's, and worthy only of a forgetfulness, blessed or not, as it salves our bruised faith in mankind.

ndspinelli said...

MamaM, I didn't know you read Turley that much. Inga is becoming unhinged since I started ignoring her. That blog has been turned from an echo chamber to a decent mix of commenters. Turley has encouraged this and specifically encouraged me. Inga arrived last Fall when it was a left wing Fascists blog. Turley knows he allowed that to happen. When the regulars embraced Inga simply because she was my enemy was when he cleaned house in January. However, he does not know how to deal w/ her. He's a really gentle guy and you know that don't work w/ her.

One of the reasons Meade stalks me is because I moved to Turley and was a part of his blog getting better balanced and popular. TOP is jealous of Turley. My hope has been former TOP folks will join in on Turley now that it is more balanced. I look upon it as a twofer. It's interesting, and it makes TOP blood boil.

ndspinelli said...

Haz, Great comment over @ Turley's. Inga/Annie just shit a brick along w/ TOP. Thanks.

Michael Haz said...

Just doing my part to keep the kettle stirred....

ndspinelli said...

As you can see, Turley puts up some interesting posts. The weekend is still left wing horseshit, but that's fun too.

Aridog said...

Allie Oop/Inga/Annie, aka ??? posts various places, often for a short period and then poof! One of my favorites, a couple years ago, when she was claiming no sock puppets was Ingemouse and debating with others over use/misuse of her name, etc etc. If you read any of it you might notice a few discrepancies from her usual personal narrative.

When I was being a "dick" as I can be from time to time I really made her nuts, but I regret I never reached Spinelli's level of expertise at it. He da' master.

I will take a few more reads, probably without comment, of Turley's blog based upon Nick's recommendations, and Haz's participation, but I assure you I will avoid Inga et al just as I try to do Meade...but occasionally just have to take a shot. Any threads where Meade shows up several times I tend to avoid and ignore...same for Inga et al. Neither have ever met "good faith".

Aridog said...

Another thing that amuses me greatly of late...Meade's new found expertise on Islam, Muslim, and Arabs. I've lived closely among them for 30+ year and could agree with some of his fantasy ideas...fantasy because he's not spent much time among them (not just knowing a couple somewhere). As I have said recently elsewhere, my purview is changing as we speak, the Muslim community here is changing, and not in a good way...I cannot help but notice it living side by side on all sides. Meade, OTOH cannot notice diddly squat because he's not on the spot, so to speak...so he clings to a fantasy. Academia environments can do that to you.

Aridog said...

PS: I am going to take TTBurnett's approach and try to make my comments more concise, yet succinct. When I refer to my personal experiences it is only to share what shaped or shapes my views, which do change over time. I think I can do it without so much potentially tangential blather and be a better commenter as a result.

Note: I may fail, mouthy sucker that I am, but I will try :-)

ndspinelli said...

Aridog, Meade and the bitch would make a haj to Mecca but she doesn't fly. Meade is the asshole we all knew in high school w/ no social skills and no friends. Fuck, he can't even have a dog, he has to rent them. I bet he rented a lotta ho's until he found the gold mine.

ndspinelli said...

LOL!! Inga has softened her tone and almost sounds sane this morning. Haz is the only difference I can see. The bitch has flamed out on @ least 3 blogs we know about. I guess she doesn't want the golden sombrero. For non baseball folks, that's striking out 4 times in a game. I only got hat tricked in my career.

ndspinelli said...

Never mind, the bipolar shitbird just came after me frothing @ the mouth.

Aridog said...

Too funny...reading down that Turley thread. My tinfoil hat tells me that Obama's father was not really B. Obama Sr., but Frank Marshal Davis who was messing around with his mother (photo evidence to boot) when she was a teenager. Ole Barack Sr was the student stooge given the blame when ole round heels Stanley Ann got preggers...never mind he never lived with Obama's mother, who moved to Mercer Island in Washington state, with toddler B in tow, shortly after his birth. Ole Stanley Ann couldn't keep her pants up and soon enough found herself in Indonesia, with Barack Jr in tow, until she sent him back to Hawaii so she could ramble on her way unencumbered.

Anybody ever do a DNA test to determine if Barack Sr was even related to Jr? Or any of his later kids, who are alleged Jr's half brothers, etc?

No wonder he's fucked up in the head.

Tin Foil hat off now :)

Well, I never pretend to concision. Brevity can be the soul of wit or piss-poor. Short comments are often about as interesting as their having been scratched on a washroom stall.

I like Haz, who actually says something. His comments are always straightforward, logical, and well-written. But he doesn't specialize in 9-word wonders when there is something more to say.

Ritmo, OTOH, is usually eye-glazing. There is a reason, but this isn't English class. Sixty sometimes thought it was, and offered grammar lessons with a chainsaw. AA also believes in economy in language, and how to write briefs a judge will read, assuming he or she has a taste for the unoriginal and obvious.

Aridog said...

Nick ....Ahhh,"Annie" is now appealing to the blog owner to moderate another commenter who spoke very slightly, and in jest, about her private life. She calls it "haranguing"...again too funny. She does that victim stunt every where she goes.

For legal issues I check out "Legal Insurrection." It covers all the bases and has several interesting contributors.

Trooper York said...

Inga did a good job destroying TOP. I hope she doesn't do it to the new one you guys like. Just sayn'

ndspinelli said...

Always keepin' that open mind, Trooper. NOBODY has been tougher on Obama than Turley. He is girly, liberal on many issues, but he's hardcore libertarian. He is a working attorney. He represents the Sister Wives. He represented Area 51 employees. He's a real world professor. But, if I have learned ANYTHING about our provincial friend, he makes up his mind and THAT'S FINAL!! Correct?

Michael Haz said...

Turley has been on Fox News a lot recently, and has testified before Congress that he believe Obama has broken the law with regard to some of his executive orders, and his single-handed changing of the ObamaCare laws.

Aridog said...

Hey, Nick I just stepped in to the pit at Turley's today....Jim22's parable was just too good to pass up. I'm still unsure about Turley's site, but interested because of all y'all, etc.

Not sure how long I'll hang around yet...mainly because I noticed Allie Oop/Inga/Annie/Ingemouse/ et al ad infinitum has already contributed her usual vapid nonsense to a subject thread she has less knowledge of than I do of Quantum Mechanics. She posits an image of pot stirring aimed at you, Haz or me or whomever (she has this hate of the day syndrome:-)....who ever knows, or gives a rat's tinker dang. I do not have time for any place that tolerates her more than in passing....same as for any persistence of Meade-boy.

Aridog said...

PS: As Trooper said....Turley's does seem to be like a "Real Housewives" thing...but I will read for a while and try to "get it".

Today, Jim22 got my attention. Maybe others, whom I don't yet "know" in the virtual sense, will as well. You and Haz are not among those...I already get a kick out of your comments wherever they may be...and that's a good thing for my general attitude lately.

I emailed Turley last night re: Inga's staling me on Twitter based on my appearing at Turley's blog. I sent him a ciopy of her tweet.

He emailed back this morning and said that he'd address it with her. I sense he's close to blocking her altogether.

Michael Haz said...

stalking.

ndspinelli said...

Aridog, There are some good commenters. As you see just this morning, Turley is strong on PC being horseshit and is very strong on lower taxes. There will be posts you hate, but they're mostly from the weekend bloggers, holdovers from the old regime. But, the most prolific weekend guy is Darren Smith, a former cop and liquor store owner. He was riding Inga's ass for Haz last night.

ndspinelli said...

Haz, Turley is fed up w/ her. But, he's not an effective disciplinarian, particularly w/ a woman.

Haz and I will be having lunch today. It's stormy so I don't think he'll be cycling?

ndspinelli said...

Haz does have Inga in a manic phase. She was up all night! I simply ignore her and make only vague digs and that is driving her over the edge. I want her destroyed and the best way is to cause her to self destruct.

Michael Haz said...

Mrs. H and I are indeed cycling today. Rain? Pffft.

Michael Haz said...

I don't give a rat's ass about Inga. I draw the line at stalking, though, and that's what I contacted Prof Turley about.

Trooper York said...

Trooper York said...

I just don't have the time to add a new joint to my internet browsing these days.

I might reconsider if Inga is banned. Otherwise it is not worth the physic cost.

Dust Bunny Queen said...

I considered jumping in on Turley's blog as well. Some of the topics are of interest to me and most of the commenters seem to have decent points to make. I can always ignore the idiot women, like Swathmoremom, that dope bettykath and some of the knee jerk liberal guys. Karen S seems to be quite logical and interesting as well.

As to Inga/Annie/Applekuchen, I thought about posting there because I know she hates me and goes ballistic when I do post and can't stop herself from getting personal. The power of my mere presence drives her nuts. Bwhahahahaha. It is highly amusing to me.

ndspinelli said...

DBQ, I would literally pay you or donate a c note to the charity of your choice if you join in. I have brought KarenS along via email. She is a wonderful young woman. Please, just show up and ignore Inga. If MamaM would I would double that offer.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, Just make an appearance and as a ball bust if nothing else.

I like Power Line and Legal Insurrection as Alt-ernative law blogs. I don't see the attraction of Turley's place, other than the fun and rowdy clientele. Turley seems like the kind who could put his foot down any second, squelching a good back and forth.

chickelit said...

But speaking of things Althousian...I think revenant is heading for a denouement over there. He's gotten more and more alpha recently and he doesn't exactly carry charm. :)

If I had to put my finger on what changed Althouse's blog, I'd say it was the that she always had a stable of both attractive and repulsive characters. Wasn't there always somebody there that you were personally drawn to which made up for all the shit you didn't want to step in?

Nowadays, when I look there, it's mostly all just repulsive forces. She chased away all the good-hearted souls and brains as surely as Hitler did.

Trooper York said...

I never cared for Revenant and we have gotten into it at Lem's recently. I am glad that he stays at TOP.

Trooper York said...

I occasionally get an email from a lurker at this site who really hates TOP and gives me the lowdown. Supposedly the comments are way down and they are pretty boring. The Evil Blogger Lady is all over the comments and most of the rest of the comments are Crack and that Betamax dude. He said that Crack turns every thread into a racial argument and that it is almost totally devoid of humor and goodwill.

It couldn't happen to a nicer evil blogger lady!

TTBurnett said...

Revenant is an idiot. He understands half of anything he writes about and gets it wrong. He isn't a commenter. He's a symptom.

...it is almost totally devoid of humor and goodwill.

That may be true, but do you think AA is able to notice?

Trooper York said...

I think she wanted a comment section that truly reflected who she is.

Looks like she has succeeded.

ndspinelli said...

chick, The ONLY people Turley has run out of his blog is the left wing Gestapo he had let run it. Turley was forthcoming in admitting he was laissez faire for too long and ran the blog on autopilot. He cleaned house in January. These Gestapo SCREAMED to have him ban me but Turley had my and a couple others backs, BIG TIME. He is more intellectually honest than any legal blogger I know. If you want right wing ideology that is not the place. If you want a very libertarian, albeit left of center, then it is a good place. He is too nice a guy to deal w/ Inga. He feels sorry for her. Sound familiar??? To varying degrees we ALL got suckered by the bitch, didn't we. I know he sees the problem. He is just having a problem pulling the trigger, just like our man here did.

Trooper York said...

I am sure you are right Nick. It seems like you have found a new fun place to talk politics. I have read a few threads and it seems like Turley is a nice guy.

ndspinelli said...

Often, too nice.

ndspinelli said...

We've not seen the bitch yet today which is noteworthy. He may have suspended her. However, her offense w/ Haz is a banning one by his rules. If Haz were a regular it would be more likely he would ban. In a perfect world that shouldn't matter. But hell, what successful biz doesn't give preference to regulars. I would not have been in biz for 30 years if I treated my longtime clients like rookies.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, I have had a lot of email contact w/ Turley. He greatly encouraged me to stay and as I said, had my back when his guest bloggers were screaming @ him to ban me and a couple other guys. As you know, I can be a bit rough around the edges. Turley is a very proper man. But, he was quite tolerant of my bare knuckles and profanity most times. Above all else, he is a good family man who writes lovingly of his wife and kids. He is a Cub and Bears fan and takes ballbusting on that well.

Aridog said...

Nick...nah, she's back on the Obamacare thread where the dispute is government run care, favoring single payer, versus private sector run care. I've mentioned the 2004 +/- proposal vis a vis using the FEHBP as a replacement for the ACA, and every time no one responds. I guess they cannot imagine a private sector controlled plan, by multiple carriers in every state, coordinated by the federal government, not run by it.

To use the FEHBP would require some hard choices, however, where ever subsidy is implemented it would be simpler than the ACA. Note that it has been a mostly Democratic proposal since 2000 or so, with Daryly Issa's proposal being the outlier in 2013. Funny how no Democrats wanted to talk about it in 2009-2010.

TTBurnett said...

Simple. They got "everybody on board" in 2009-10, as some White House hack said on NPR at the time. The Dems were paid off by the insurance companies, big pharma, the AMA, etc. The corporate world had its thumb in the healthcare pie for so long, that a true "market-based" solution was impossible. They knew something had to be done. Too many people weren't buying insurance. So, what better way to stop any real reform, and keep their income streams at least mostly intact, than to make sure Barry knew what was expected of him?

ndspinelli said...

Ari, The good guy Darren says he'll keep an eye out for your comments eaten by spam. Turley just deleted the bitch. He is not there yet. Trooper would put her into a nervous breakdown if he just made a few comments. MamaM could too.

Trooper York said...

I read a little over there today Nick. I think Turley is too much of a gentlemen for my bullshit. Just sayn'

TTBurnett said...

I looked into it, too. Turley is a fine place for political/legal discussions with a pretty good mix of comments.

One of the reasons I started following and commenting on AA nearly a decade ago was my thought that the discussion would sharpen my thinking and improve my expression. Conservatives made a point in those days of being the ones interested in real discussions, and not promoters of echo chambers like those miserable Kossites.

That has slipped badly in the last decade. Now, everybody only wants an echo chamber, because, well, everyone is exactly right in every jot and tiddle of every opinion withal. Turley seems bravely to be going into the fray in an attempt to draw out some intelligent debate. That's all fine, but it's not going to be very satisfactory, simply because there are very few any more who are interested in debate. Most, as I say, because their heads are made up. And the rest of us are weary of the whole damn thing. Most of what I do on the internet these days consists in overlong musical, ecclesiastical, and semi-ironic social comments on Facebook, with enough cute animals included to get "likes" from several cat ladies I know.

So, I'll make a little bow in the direction of Prof. Turley's salon, and turn back to fuzzy animals and wry musical bits on my go-to online hangout, never thinking too much again about solving the world's problems, and intending to avoid them altogether by exiting through that side door we all will take, sooner or later.

Darcy said...

I miss the old TOP days. The mix of commenters during the height was something I haven't seen anywhere since. Each time I recall a commenter I haven't read since it all fell apart I feel a little pain. I'm sure Althouse feels a little pain too, but not sure it's the same kind.

I'd like to look at the Turley thread, but didn't see a link posted here.

ndspinelli said...

Trooper, You are perfectly capable of making adjustments if you want to. We both comment on the padre's blog and make the needed adjustments. I understand if you don't want to mosey over. But, I know you could adjust if your wanted to.

ndspinelli said...

And, GREAT to see you, woman! We should see blake soon as well.

ndspinelli said...

Tim, I think you would be a good fit over there.

TTBurnett said...

Darcy is absolutely right about TOP in the noontime of its years. The mix was something you'll never see again. Unfortunately, it was marred by the Luckyoldsons of this world, admittedly cultivated by AA for her amusement. The tension was palpable between a sense of a community and AA's need to assert her superiority by stirring the pot. She did have the spoon, and we were in her kettle.

I have been in one other, and frankly better, online group back when AOL was private and expensive. It was a chat room about classical music, and it attracted a surprising number of well-known musicians. I ultimately became a moderator, aka "Host," something like a CompuServe "sysop." It was funny and witty—a musician's party every night. It vanished when AOL went from charging by the minute to becoming internet-based and advertising-funded. Our old friend, blake, had a similar experience as a sysop on CompuServe in a programmers' forum. Ah, the pre-internet glory days.

Anyway, it's been what it's been. And I've got to say Darcy was one of the principal ornaments, who could cast a warm glow over everything in few words, sometimes helping us forget Luckyoldson and his ilk ever existed.

TTBurnett said...

BTW, is blake ever around here? In that last comment I referred to him in a way that implies distance, but I just don't recall if he's got the keys to this kingdom.
