Althouse commented on the vicious comments on some blogs about Russert passing. It's the same old drivel from the same lefty douches which shouldn't get your knickers in a twist. But I think it's important to remember that free speech allows even these crazies to spout off the nonsense that they are spewing. I totally disagree with most of what they have to say but I don't presume to tell people how to feel or how to express themselves. Russert was a public figure who had no compunction in torturing other people who were in the public eye when they did something wrong or what was perceived as wrong by elite Washington Media opinion. Now he has to reap what he had sown.
I hold the art of journalism in the same level of minimum high regard as I do professional wrestling. So I was much more affected by the death of Gorilla Monsoon. I guess you feel much worse if you are a fan.

Of course they can say whatever they want. As can Althouse. You are sounding like those people who 1) think "free" is "free from rebuke and 2) confuse the concept of Freedom of Speech in terms of constitutional protections specifically in relationship to government and institutional sanctions with no one ever being able to say, "Hey, this is my place: Take it elsewhere!"
That's not conservative, or classically liberal, or even libertarian. That's a tantrum;--and either willfully obtuse or immature thinking.
Look, I'm not in mourning over Russert. To be taken aback by unexpected news; to know and say it must be so sad for his family, friends, colleagues & etc.; to n note that it will alter a familiar landscape; and so forth is not to indicate rending of clothes, or even tears. Why fall into the rhhardin trap?
And, Trooper? Cut the crap. You presume along with everyone else, it's just that you presume in ways that are A-OK with you, as opposed to in ways that are not A-OK with you. And you're willing to wield a broad brush with the best them. Who's kidding whom?
For crying out loud.
Hey I ain't kidding reader. But I give everybody the right to say what they want. Thats why I defend Titus's bullshit. It's not what I really want to hear but he should be free to spout off any time and way he wants. Same with RH. And Cedarford. I don't claim anything. Other than the right to call bullshit. The professor posted on free speech and than wants to get all school marm on comments on a lefty site. Look when Fidel or Jane Fonda or Jimmy Carter croaks the righties are all going to go batshit crazy too. I just really really don't like Russert and Matthews and Gregory and think they are total and complete hypocrites who never ever gave any one the benefit of the doubt and don't deserve in turn. Like I said, I don't want to be a hypocrite, I will stab you in the front.
"Hey, this is my place: Take it elsewhere!"
It wasn't in her place. She brought it there. If she didn't like it then leave it alone. This is the kind of crap that brings us the fairness doctrine, and hate speech laws and crap like that. Listen to that old klansman Hugo Black "Make no Law" means "Make no Law" when it comes to free speech. The nanny statements wear real thin with me.
But thanks for stopping by.
And I don't care about freedom from rebuke. That goes both ways. If you start slapping expect to get slapped back. Just sayn'
And I use a roller and not a broad brush. Actually I hire a Mexican to do it.
But thanks for stopping by.
Please remember to tip your waiters and waitresses.
And be mindfull of the dress code.
No shirt, no shoes, no service.
Your inability to discern the difference between Russert (again, not my personal journalistic icon) and Matthews, not to mention a number of outright misrepresentations with regard to Russert's background, is interesting. What's up with that? What is it about the axe you're grinding that's so important?
This is the kind of crap that brings us the fairness doctrine, and hate speech laws and crap like that.
NO, NO, NO, NO. That is bullshit. That is NOT what brings us the fairness doctrine, and hate speech laws, and crap like that. It's the inability to distinguish between GOVERNMENT and INSTITUTIONAL control of ground and an INDIVIDUAL'S assertion of control-- and control--over their own space that leads to that. It's the blurring of those two things. It's the blurring and that's precisely what you're doing. You're just doing it from the OTHER slope.
Yo, what's up with the timestamps here? Your blog's set up on the time of the coast clear across the country from Brooklyn?
(A complete aside, not appropos of the current interchange. I just happened to notice it.)
I'm not misrepresenting Russert background at all. Or his act. He is one of the phony Jimmy Breslin, Mike Barnicle, Mike Lupica, Chris Matthews, Tim Russert regular ethnic guy’s phony baloney view when they are as far from that as they can be. They are white wine spritzer, fancy restaurant going phony lying sacks of shit but they pretend they represent the man in the street. I know you have a dog in the fight as a journalist, or former journalist but I don't think you realize the contempt most regular people feel for these douche bags. Time after time we see them abuse accident victims and stick microphones in their face exploiting their pain and grief. The lies and distortions at the Superdome during Katrina were reprehensible. Thousand s dead. Babies being raped. Such complete and utter bullshit. They never ever give anyone a break or the benefit of the doubt. They will hammer people unmercifully. So I don’t feel they deserve the unending accolades and requiems that are due a regular working man. I don’t want to be the turd in the punchbowl but I also feel I have to tell the truth. That’s what the internets are all about. And I also don’t really care what people think. Normally I like to just joke around. But sometimes I can’t take the bullshit.
I feel really strongly about this but I tried to tone it down on Althouse because it is her house. But in my house I can call it the way I see it.
Of course!
Like I know how the time clock works. I ain't a computer nerd. I just write shit. I can't even figure out how to put in a blog roll. Jeeez.
