Hey where's Howie Spira when you need him?

New York Post Weird but True (December 20, 2008)
Dave Winfield - meet Gaston Aguirre.
The Argentine soccer player accidentally killed a pigeon when he kicked the ball and it struck the bird in midair.
"Poor pigeon," Aguirre said.
He joins a long list of athletes who have accidentally killed birds during a game - including Winfield, who struck a seagull with a throw in a 1983 game in Toronto.
Of course the pigeon was lucky to not get herpes which Dave Winfield gave to the seagull and Robin Givens mother.

Aww. Amazingly, I have a tennis related story to add! :)

I watched a doubles match a couple of years ago, and the ball hit a bird during the match and killed it. The players (men) were sort of devastated. They actually got on their knees next to the bird!

I'll see if I can find the video...

As long as they didn't try to give it mouth to mouth like Dave Winfield did...because now you know the rest of the story.
