Should I stay or should I go?

Every time we go to Long Island we ride down Atlantic Avenue instead of taking the highway. That is the straight shot instead of a loop de loop. And every time we do that we pass the new Net's stadium. It is going up really quickly and looks like it is going to be done in time for the Nets to be there next year. That leaves me with a problem.

You see I have been a Knick fan for a long time. I had season tickets for twenty years. But they priced me out of the arena as they have done to so many real fans. I have kinda lost touch with the team because I hate the management and the coach. Now a team is coming to a spot about twenty blocks from my house. And the tickets will most likely be cheap. Should I change my team?

Ndspinelli has spoken about how he has been a fan of different teams as he has moved around. A Giant fan when he live in Connecticut and a Chiefs fan when he lived in KC and now he is a front running Packers fan now that he lives in Cheeseland. I can understand you want to change teams when you move. But what do you do when the team moves next door to you?

I don't change that readily. I still have underwear from 1980. I mean I do change them don't get me wrong but I don't throw stuff away so easily. So I guess I will stay a Knick fan but I might check out a few Net's games.

Somebody has to cheer for Kris Humphries.

Change is good and loyalty overrated when it comes to pro sports teams. They sure as hell aren't loyal to you. But, even if you don't accept my premise, having a team move to you is no different than you moving to another city and becoming a fan of that team. And few would argue that's legit. I can't get into the Bucks because they're owned by an idiot Democrat US Senator, Herb Kohl. I'll become a Nets fan and we can @ least be sympatico on the NBA. I'm serious.

LET'S GO NETS.

I did root for the Nets back in the ABA days in the early seventies. In fact I loved the ABA. Dr J. Billy Paultz the Whopper. Wendall Ladner. Super John Williamson. Billy Melchione. Man those were the days.

They were my ABA team like the Chiefs were my AFL team. They had this linebacker Jim Lynch who went to Notre Dame and came to speak at my high school's sports night. But once the leagues merged I had to stick with my main teams.

Michael the only place I would move to from Brooklyn is Hawaii.

We hope to buy a condo there someday when we make enough money.

Hey, I switched from the Dodgers to the Red Sox, from the Rams to the Patriots, and from the Lakers to the Celtics. I'm not going to talk about hockey. It's the old Althouse comments section of sports.

When I moved here, it was the height of the Celtics glory days, with Larry Byrd, Kevin McHale, the Chief, et al, beating the crap out of Detroit, Philly, et al. Season tickets were more expensive than a new car. I managed to get into a couple of playoff games in '80 and '81. Ah, the old Gaadn. It was much more..um.."sportive" than the plastic venues we were used to in L.A.

Fenway. Sullivan Stadium, the old Gaadn, those places made me an instant Boston sports convert, and I've never looked back to L.A. since.

They've built a new Garden, and it has such amazing amenities as air conditioning and seats not behind pillars, but they've tried to keep the feel of the old place, and, frankly, now that I'm older, it's much nicer to go to a game there. It might even be in L.A., but thank God I get to see the Celtics and the tattered remains of Boston local color, before it, too, is erased from the face of the earth, and begins to resemble, like everyplace else, Southern California.

Once a player leaves college he is dead to me. And by college, I mean Duke University. The only place on earth to watch a game is Cameron Indoor.

So, while players may earn millions playing professional basketball, I really don't care. Most of them weren't worth what UNC was paying them, just sayin'...

Cameron indoor stadium is the best although we lost a lot when I was there during the dawkins era. But I got to see jordon, Perkins, worthy, and that guy from UVA up close.

I hope you have washed them since then. Or is that the real reason "You Jamacian Me Crazy" maid did not work out?

If you are serious about Hawaii, now is the time to buy. If you are not too picky, you could find a decent enough place out of commuting range of Honolulu that is affordable. Hell, I would go for the Big Island myself since that is where all the cows live.

Wisconsin is getting way old.

Guess who else likes Hawaii?

I changed BB teams over the years. First Bullets, then the Celtics, then the Sonics, then back to the Celtics, then the Jazz, then nobody.

Never liked the Knicks, sorry. Hated the Hype about "Earl the Pearl" and Bill Bradley (liked Debusschere and Reed though). Thought Patrick Ewing looked like Frankenstein on a bad day. Then Latrell Spreewell -ugh.

Can't say I disliked the Nets, in fact I have a hard remembering they're in the NBA. Kinda like the Clippers. The Nets still exist, right?

Pelosi stays at the Fourth Season resort?--how fitting.

What a has-been.

I have nothing good to say about that woman. At least she doesn't purport to represent me, unlike Feinstein and Boxer.

I am a football and baseball sort of cow, so basketball...meh.

Fans do not "change" teams.

WTF?

Do I have to teach you everything?

Tits.

Just sayin.

Super John went to high school the same time as me. I saw him play for Wilbur Cross HS[New Haven] in a State tournament. He scored over 50 points leading his team to victory. Cheering him on in the stands was his baby mama and child. That was pretty eye opening for a Catholic high school boy in the 60's. The man was a scoring machine, both on and off the court.

When I lived in KC we went to a lot of NBA games. We had the unique honor of cheering for 2 cities..the KC-OMAHA Kings. Coached by Cotton Fitzsimmons w/ Tiny Archibald Phil Ford, Otis Birdsong, "Sad" Sam Lacey, Scottie Wedman, etc. My bride had just bought a new 35mm camera w/ a telephoto lens and one season we shot ~300 photos of games. We would go to ~20-25 games a year..never sold out, except when Dr. J was in town. We alway talked about going to Omaha to see a game but never did. The biggest regret in my life...NOT!

You should save your money and get decent Giants season tickets and call it a day.

Hawaii, I was there not to long ago.. Did not impress me. Everyone there works in a hotel or a restaurant... They all live to surf nothing else... Home prices a tad high for what you get..

Whats so great about Brooklyn anyway lived here most of my life. Rents now are thru the roof. City is always trying to squeeze the last dollar out of your pocket... And Court St is always dirty... Parking is horrible...My old friend did real well with some real estate but even he is complaining about the taxes...

EBL, Giant season tix are just as obscenely expensive, probably more? Trooper would need to rustle some cows and sell yours and their raw milk on the black market. He would need to be "milkin' 300" to come close to the tab. Unless you want to walk the streets of Clacutta for him..shakin' your money maker.

It's all in your priorities. Cheap is the ultimate factor. I've been a life-long Mets fan (they SUCK, btw), but when I moved to the NC mountains, I found myself just a couple of hours' drive from Fulton County Stadium, home of the Braves. This was before they got smart and bought a decent pitching staff, so they sucked more than the Mets (who really SUCK, btw). We could drive down after work any day, park close by, and purchase tickets from scalpers on the way into the stadium for $5. We saw a lot of talent come through Atlanta to beat the hell out of the Braves for our $5 tickets. Once it got too pricey to attend, I went back to rooting for the Mets (who STILL SUCK, btw).

"Fans do not "change" teams."

That's right, I'm not a pro sports team "fan". "fan" is short for "Fanatic".

I like College sports better. With Pro Sports I root for a team 'cause I like the people.

Right now I'm a Bronco 'fan', because of Tebow.
