Hey An Edjamikated Redneck, here is the Gunsmoke with Charles Bronson.

This is from when Gunsmoke was cool before they toned it down. Dillon didn't take any crap. This is how law enforcement should work all the time.

This is very high-concept. I'm amazed and a little horrified. I assume the people wearing black hats are supposed to represent black people, the sheriff some white supremacist ideal, and the entire story as a metaphor on race relations in the 50's.

You are reading too much into it. Or actually not reading it right. The writers on this show were actually very liberal and every other episode was about some ethnic group that was being discriminated against and how Matt and Festus and Kitty and Doc would stand up for and help them while the other towns people would discriminate against them.

What Charles Bronson represented was the commies. He was the Russians and the Chinese picking off the Cezhs and the Hungarians and the Vietnamese and the Koreans and other weaker countries. Marshal Dillion was the good old USA going in and setting him straight Just like we were doing at the time in Vietnam.

It is a truimph that younger guys like you have no concept of the subtext of fight against global communinst domination. God bless the Gipper. Heh.

Oh this was the era when democrats like Kennedy and Johnson and Humphrey were against communism. You know long ago and far away.
