Watching the detectives.

Hey I had to come up with a new poll. Now I usually alternate between food and TV but I was thinking about a favorite salami poll. You have Genoa, Soppressata, Kosher and the guy from the White Shadow. But if we did a salami poll Titus, Zach and Jason would get too excited so I dropped that one. Then I was thinking about the best loaf. We have Meat Loaf, Olive Loaf and Pinched Loaf but then I ran out. That wouldn't work.

So we are going with your favorite detective. Who would you hire to find out what you needed to find out? Only private detectives not cops or FBI guys. Your choices:

Jim Rockford

Barnaby Jones

Frank Cannon

Magnum PI

Mannix

So have at it. Which detective is the one you want to watch?

The wife turned me on to Magnum. She had, probably has the hots for Selleck. I got her a couple of seasons on DVD. Of those offered. Selleck gets my vote.

I am sorry that I could not vote for one of my favorite pot heads Stacey Keech though.

Don't forget about ham loaf, Troop.

Penny's right.

Also, there's always half a.

Half a loaf.

I went for Mannix because I like the theme music. It's by Lalo Schiffrin, the same guy who wrote the Mission: Impossible theme, proving that he can write both cool Mission: Impossible music and cool non-Mission: Impossible music.

I'm hoping for a three-way between Magnum PI, Mannix, and Jim Rockford. But three-ways are hard to work out, just look at last week's poll.

I can't believe Veronica Mars was not included in the poll. She'd wipe the floor with all five of the guys listed. And she and her friends are hot. AND she can use things like the internet. Mention the internet to Mannix and he'd probably start babbling about tubes or something. What is wrong with you people?

One night Tom Snyder had Tom Selleck as his guest on his latelatelatelatelatelate show. I called in to ask Tom Selleck about his modeling for Salem cigarettes back in the day. They changed his eye color to aqua.

Both were very nice for my brief moment.

I like Selleck becuase he made Rosie O'Donnel look like the big fat horse's ass that she is.

Rockford, FTW.

Ruth Anne, I used to watch Tom Snyder in that late late late night spot on a fairly regular basis. No wonder you had a question about cigarettes. Snyder would smoke a pack while we watched.

Rockford had a great Firebird; Magnum had the Ferrari (yeah, it wasn't HIS, but the only beetter than owning a Ferriari is driving one you DON'T own); Mannix had the Mannix Mobile, but what did Cannon drive? A four-door Chevy?

And what about Jones?

I guess we can give him credit for the Beverly Hillbillies truck...

Yeah, I gotta go with Rockford, too. I loved Selleck, but he really wasn't enough of a bad boy.
Oh. Not sure what that revelation is about.

But Rockford. Yeah.

Reneck, Frank Cannon drove a Caddy. A gold caddy with rich leather seats and the first car phone I ever saw on TV. Man I really wanted that car. You can have your little sports cars like Magnum, give me a big Caddy with leather seats where I can put Sinatra on the eight track light up a stogie and drive to Atlantic City with Stella Stevens, Angie Dickinson and Charo sipping champagne and telling me what they are going to do to me when we get there.

Darcy said...

Hey, Trooper...you just reminded me! I saw Charo live on my cruise.
Mightily impressed. Not only is she charming (and still very attractive!), she is a fabulously talented classical guitarist.

Wow. You have good taste. Not that we didn't know that. :)

Trooper York said...

WHAT! You pulling a blake on me. Now everytime I post a Charo photo I will have to add the tag "Darcy says she knows her."

Redneck I am sorry I screwed up. I just watched an episode on the computer and Cannon drove a Lincoln Continental. But you get the idea right?

An Edjamikated Redneck said...

Troop I agree. If you look up car in the dictionary you get a picture of a late '60s American luxury sedan. Caddy or Lincoln it doesn't matter, as long as you have room for 6 comfortably in the front and room for all the luggage in the trunk, plus a case of booze.
