The Wire

Hey the Wire is on HBO on demand and I am watching the first season again with the Barksdales crew and the whole hot ghetto mess. Check it out if you can it's the best show ever made for television.

I was just talking today about the character Omar and his peculiar code of ethics. That's how good this show is. Years after I watch it, the characters still exist as if they were real.

The one caution is to slow yourself down. Instead of the cases taking an episode, one case takes the whole season. Give yourself 3 or 4 episodes before you decide whether you like it.

And Jimmy McNulty, that Irish putz, is so eff-able.

DuQuone completely broke my heart. The next generation's Bubbles.

And, for a moment, didn't you think that Hamsterdam was an awesome idea?

I need to watch this show again from top to bottom.

That's what I am doing. I picked it up in season three.

This is BHO's favorite too.

And, Omar is the character he found most compelling.

I'm a bit addicted, I even have a couple copies of the soundtrack so one is always more or less at hand for a bit of a quasi fix.

And, how awesome is it that the real Mayor of Baltimore was recently indicted on a dozen counts? I guess this is where I say "you can't make this stuff up."

It is a real slice of life in city.

Obama reminds me of some of the politicos in the later series. Like the ambitious DA or the head of the city council.

When you are in a big city machine, you might not be personally corrupt but you know what is going on and some of it might come back to bite you. I hope that doesn't happen to him.
It would be terrible for the country.

I really loved the port of baltimore stories with the longshoreman's union. Both of my uncles on my mothers side were heavily invovled as is my cousin.

I'm glad you brought this up again. I need to put it on my Netfix queue.
