Hey let's have a snack at the new joint on Court St.

So last night the wife and I decided to have date night. A customer of the shop has opened a new wine and cheese joint on Court St called Calpurnia. She has cheese plates with prosciutto and salami and olives and olive oil for dipping. Plus she heats up the bread so you get some hot crusty bread to dip and eat with the cheese. And most of the wine is priced very reasonably at $20 a bottle. So it is shaping up as a great place.

But there is always a problem. She has never really run a bar before and they were incredibly slow. Now you had two kinds of people in there. Neighborhood people who knew the owner and yuppie scum hipster doufous assholes. Anyway at one point the girl who owns the card store down the block and I were busing tables. We pitched right in to help as they were understaffed and overwhelmed. I had to laugh and told the other business owner that we knew what she was going through and were happy to help out a little.

On the other hand these yuppie bitches at the next table just complained and acted like assholes.
I mean they were a little slow but they were trying their best. So when it was over the assholes left without leaving a tip. Typical.

Anyway it is on our list as a late night joint to have a cheese and meat plate with some wine. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Very cool story, man.

Sounds great. Makes me wish I drank wine. Or could eat bread. Or anything...

Gays are really good tippers.

We generally leave 25-30%. We value and respect our wait staff. We always hit it off with them. I think they know we are gay.

You are exactly right Titus. The worst tippers are these self rightous yuppie or hipster doufous types. They wear their Che t-shirts and have a Barack Obama Lunch Box but help a working wait person out who lives on tips. Not so much.

If you visit your friend in Carroll Gardens you should check it out. You would appreciate the ambience.
