What's your favorite chicken dish?

What's your favorite chicken dish? The wife is insisting that I make a lot more chicken and I have made all of these different dishes the last few weeks. But I want to hear what you guys like. The choices:

Fried Chicken Cutlets
A whole baked chicken
Chicken Catetori
Southern Fried Chicken
General Tso chicken

Let me know what you think. I will try to post some reciepes as well.

Oh and RH no sex talk.

What, no curried chicken?

I like whole chicken stuffed with lemons spit roasted.

The first time I had this I couldn't believe how primitive and simple it was and how delicious it turns out. The slow spit roasting is key: all the juices are driven in by the flame but are met and mix with the citrus oils.

Are chicken cutlets the same as breaded chunks of mystery chicken parts? Because I actually like them better than the cutlets.

Is it bad if you only eat the skin of the southern fried chicken? The way I see it the meat is just empty calories.

Personally I hate chicken. It has no taste to me. It only tastes like what you season it with: lemon, marsala sauce, red sauce, cajun spices, whatever.

Now a big juicy piece of steak, blood rare has such a great taste! Just a pinch of salt and you are good to go!

I think part of the reason for that is they barely let them grow up anymore. Chicken does have flavor though, think chicken stock. By the way, chicken broth: completely useless.

Unsurprisingly I'm a thigh-man and have no use for chicken boobs.

Well you might be right. My grandmother used to make chickens that were fresh killed from the poultry store on Hick Street, killed, plucked and cleaned right in front of you. They did taste different than the ones pumped full of chemicals and perservatives that you get in the supermarkets today.

But give me a steak any day. Fuck chicken (no not that way RH).

Most any piece of meat tastes better spit-roasted.

Someone sure is desperate to put their spit into some meat.

I want mine with ketchup!

I figured somebody would take the bait.

Trooper left--off tandoori chicken too. Go figure.

Still, there are plenty of good choices--oven baked, fried and cacciatore are great.

BBQ and roasted are always in our Summer time rotation as well.

It is just getting to be a pain in the ass. The wife only wants to eat chicken on her diet and I am damn tired of it. I made it so many ways the last few weeks. Stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. Paprika baked chicken cutlets. Chicken cordon blue.

When I made sausages with broccli rabe and occhintno pasta I had to hear it.

I am tired of chicken.

Don't mind me, I just like to complain.

Chicken fried chicken, southern style.

Or a good bowl of Pho. Your wife might go for the Pho. It's reasonable healthy, filled with veggies, and if cooked by the right Vietnamese grandmother, uneffing believably good.

Someone should post a recipe so people can know what they are missing.

Hey at least we are going for wine and cheese tonight, so no fuckin chicken.

Or chicken fuckin either RH, keep it in your pants.

I have to post another Remembrance of Things Pabst Michael, you reminded me.

Chicken meat-balls. Chicken meat-loaf wrapped in bacon. Something with tuna (it's the chicken of the sea!).

It is wonderful! I think the only thing to worry about with Vietnamese food diet-wise is maybe the serving size, but you can always take half home. It's not like you're going to be able to finish all the stuff they give you anyway.

I think a chicken dish poll just before Thanksgiving is a turkey.

We are planning on chicken-fried turkey with biscuits and gravy for Thanksgiving dinner. How does that sound?

Trooper York said...

Sounds good. The only thing worse than a chicken is a turkey.

Well, as usual people have their priorities straight. You want a lot of comments you post about food.
Southern fried chicken is unbelievably good when it's done right...which it practically never is. Best sfc I ever had was in a roadside shack in a town south of Mobile, Alabama, can't even remember the name of the town. Considering the success of KFC it's unbelievable what people will eat. While typing out this comment I got the vibe that I was Tennessee Williams. It was like a wave of gayness broke over me. But I'm alright now. Really. No, I mean it!

Chicken Cacciatore. Yums. The last time I made this I added -- and I know this isn't properly Italian of course, but I added chopped up kalamata olives.

I like Chicken of the Sea. I didn't see it on the list, though.

He's saving that for the special Dara Torres feature coming up early next year.

Ah, my kids don't like chicken so we don't eat it much. But I like it flame-broiled, spit-roasted, fried—my momma makes a shallow-fried chicken that's unlike anything else I've had, love it—tangerined, beer-canned, sweet-and-soured, BBQed, stirred-fry you name it.

Dark meat, though, if you're eating actual body parts. The breast is very bland and dry, usually, unless you've chopped it up Chinese style.

Southern fried is winning? Too much stopping-at-the-KFC-on-the-way-home-from-work with this crowd.

Anything cooked with tomatoes gets my vote.

Arroz Con Pollo, Tandori Chicken, Curry Chicken with Rice, Garlic Baked Chicken.

So many great Chicken recipes. Southern fried is the best - if done right.

But give me Chicken only when I'm tired of Steak and Beef.
