I am afraid to go to Red Hook now...

and not for the reason you think.

I would love to go to Valentino Park where we filmed part of the show and where we go every so often. It has just about the best view of the Statue of Liberty that you are gonna find on the waterfront.

But I heard it got really messed up during Sandy. And nothing has been done to fix it up.

It's like New Orleans after Katrina. Except the main stream media is covering it up.

How did he know he'd end up the tugboat
To her S.S. Mystery?

Punctuation and spacing can a difference make.

Don't look now but I can see a tiny symbol of freedom erected between you two in that photo.

Titus should settle down with a busty wench from Waunakee. It's been awhile, but I used to know some.

Wrong thread!

OK, I'm just so out of the loop.

Why would you be afraid to go to Red Hook?

As Beth would say, if she were still here (as would I) life is complicated.

Shit. Spike Lee has a new movie?

blake said...

OK, so, damage from the hurricane is why you don't want to go.

What reason are we supposed to think you wouldn't want to go?

Is Spike Lee there?

I'll tell you what's dangerous - getting between Baron Zemo and his donuts! That boy is on a tear.

What can I say - we are having wintry mix, my house has not closed and it is too cold to go out and work. These are truly dark times.

Troop (or anyone) -

Do you have a good o'le family spaghetti sauce recipe, preferably one that has few to no cans of tomato whatever than need to be opened? (Tomato paste is OK.)

We've had too many years of kids to remember what it was like NOT to just open a bottle of store-bought sauce.

Any good recipes or suggestions sincerly appreciated.

I am going to raise tomatoes this summer and plan to experiment with recipes from scratch. I have nothing to offer at this time, but will watch what shows up.

Red Hook is notoriously crime ridden.

Google Patrick Daley in Red Hook. Just sayn'

Yay!!

I'm very excited since my father just gave me his pasta making machine. They don't eat carbs much and at 85 he has really cut back on cooking. The machine is something like this one.

Somehow in the past 30 years I either lost mine or sold it in a garage sale in a moment of insanity. Ever since Troop has been talking about them, I'm really looking forward to making some goat cheese raviolis. Plus lasagna made from fresh sheets of pasta. Nom nom nom.

blake said...

OK, so now I don't know why you'd WANT to go there.

john said...

Thanks Chick. I'll look forward to that, but I'll have something to eat in the meantime.

Well blake they cleaned it up a lot now before Sandy.

They have the best Mexican food in NYC there in the summer. There are a bunch of food carts and people come from all around to eat.

Plus they put a big Fairway supermarket there that got destroyed.

blake said...

Oh. Yeah. Mexican food.

I guess we have that here, somewhere.

If you'll allow me a query, may I just ask this:

When does it most matter that folks demonstrate their support for places and businesses that they've most appreciated over the years when times were good?
