Decisions are always hard

We went to look at additional spaces today. When you have to make decisions especially important ones there are so many factors to weigh in your decision matrix. We saw a new space that we are considering.

This space has a lot of possibilities. They have to fix the windows and put in a new floor. You have to be able to look at a fucked up space and imagine what it would look like when you fix it up. Of course the building has to be willing to fix it up for you before you move in. How long will it take? Do they pay for it or are you on the hook for it? Lots of questions and decisions.
The floor sucks so we would have to put in a wood floor. This might put us out of pocket a little but would obviously be worth it.
We will be knocking down this wall to make one big space when you walk in. It will open to a wall of windows with a lot of sun. You to be able to see it in your minds eye which is what the wife does best as she can conceptualize the space in a way that will really work.

It is a big decision as you might imagine so we are going back on Friday to look at a couple of more spaces. To be continued.

I really liked the look of the first space you blogged about. Or posted about. Or whatever the correct 21st Century verbiage is. I especially liked the windows. But I'm a light lover, big time. And I believe it had wood floors. Just looked clean and sleek. Or sleek and clean. But I realize there's so much more to where you'll set up shop than pure aesthetics. Location is big of course. But my two cents is go with the first space unless there's a really big negative that has nothing to do with the way it looks. Plus I don't know whether it's too small. If not I'd stop looking right there.

Kinda reminds me of the inside of Crack's head. A big empty space that needs to lighten up.

LSL "consults" w/ AllenS about farming. They just remodeled a room, give the man a call. I'm sure he's an expert.

Quick look at the photo tells me there aren't enough electric circuits for a clothing showroom. You need wall outlets and ceiling drop-downs. And the lighting is all wrong. Those long bulbs will kill the colors of the dresses.

And I don't see a/c venting in the ceiling.

You are exactly right Michael.

We will have to do a lot of work to the space. But here's the thing. It is a nondescript lobby and hallway. Then you open the door and the space is ringed with windows. Huge windows. Open to the New York skyline. Imagine chandeliers and drapes and shear's and manikins decorating a big open space. You can almost hear the Gershwin music.

It could be great. It is just going to take some work.

Good Luck! When those two statements have shown up together in my life (via my lips or another's), there's usually been a third awareness waiting to be revealed. One that has to do with more money, time, or work than expected.

With only so much that can be cut from one piece of cloth, deciding where energy needs to be focused and spent is a key factor when recovery, transition and major life changes are part of the picture. While I don't envy the decisions ahead for both you, I'm excited to hear you working toward a new goal and plan.
