It was freezing out

The snow was pretty bad for New York. I mean no big deal for youse guys who live in Wisconsin or Minnesota or one of those states where it snows all the time. But it was pretty bad for us.

We did have some fun shopping in the snow. We opened the store this weekend and believe it or not we had some business. You never can tell in retail.

With the feeding frenzy of spending on bread/milk, it's no wonder there's a spillover. Looks like the Pack are going to lose.

It looks like the Pack did lose. Good try, though. One missed interception and one blown coverage was all it took to give the game away in the 4th quarter.

I'm semi-hunkering down for the next couple of days because of the weather. Plenty of things to do at home, plus a quick drive to the gym each morning, and no real need to do anything else outside.

It's 47 degrees outside right now at 9:00, yet already the schools have announced a two-hour delay because it's supposed to snow sometime overnight. I've lived in this state for 60% of my life and I'm still amazed at what a bunch of pussies they are. I attended a SUNY school and the rule of thumb was 18 inches overnight to cancel classes.

Glad you're out and about in that stuff, Troop. Just don't try to shovel any. Call your mayor to do it for you. I heard he's experienced at it.

Just got a text from my brother-in-law in Vietnam. They took their adopted kid over to see the hellhole they rescued him from (okay that's NOT the reason, but I hope when he's older, he'll realize that that is exactly what happened). I wonder what it cost me to text him back?

SonM just headed north to home after a year of working in Rock Hill, NC. He said drivers in that area reacted to rain as if it was snow. He's off to Texas this week, where Bat-Out-of-Hell driving replaces timidity.

A note for Sixty Grit: on the story left over at Lem's on the Tiny House post:

Jackson Press...Great story! For us it was hidden Chex Mix. Mom would bake up a huge batch in the blue enamel turkey roaster and then hide containers of it around the house so the kids wouldn't find and eat it. One year she hid it in the laundry bin, and another year, after I was out and my brother was still at home, she put it in the clother dryer, but couldn't remember where it was when company came. Food was love, but it didn't do to give the good stuff away too freely. Same with saying the words, tell someone you loved them and who knows what else they might want! We inherited the blue roaster and amended the recipe, leaving out the stuff we didn't like, and now give bags of it away to anyone who likes it or seems worthy. Sort of the same but different!

I lived in the Charlotte area for five years. Still have to return there, as the in-laws are still in the area. Hate the place. Traffic, crime, heat, piss-poor attitude of the locals. The only decent thing about the place is a little BBQ place, if it's still there. Haven't been in years.

Thanks, MamaM - I had followed that story as it scrolled off the front page - we all have our stories, am I right?

Like you, I learned to give away the good stuff - it's a better way to live.
