DId you ever get the feeling.....

That the Dust Bunny Queen is such a strong woman that she potty trains her dogs?

Look at the building. It's brick from top to bottom. Not American style rectangular brick but a rounded brick with recessed grouting commonly found in northern Europe.

The ends of the overhang is scalloped. This is not done in America. The absence if rain gutters is also notable, as is the lack of fenestration.

The Dude said...: Well, the film was developed in a place that uses the letters "Mar" to indicate the name of a month. That's a useful, if not necessarily specific clue.

Since the photo is in black and white we don't know much more about the dog than the pattern we can see in the fur. Not saying it's a Cao de Fila de Sao Miguel or anything like that, but Ol' Troop, should he ever drift back by here might give us a hint by telling us where he found that picture.; April 6, 2012 at 4:11 PM

Aw....no dogs for us at this time. Just a cat.

We would love to have a dog again, but the downsides are bigger than the upsides to pet ownership right now. No fencing on our property so a dog that would want to roam (which is most dogs) would have to be penned or restricted or kept indoors all the time. Too many other predators out there. So many people have lost dogs to lions and coyotes.

I hate to see a dog penned up or alone in the yard, chained to a post and looking longingly at the house where the rest of the pack is at. So mean.

We don't hunt anymore so more likely an indoor muttly type would be our style, but then that means multiple daily walking and outdoor time. Now in the summer that would be great. Yesterday it was 17 degrees with snow and ice on the ground. I'm getting lazy and set in my ways and not particularly interested in long walks in the snow.

Now a cat. You can just boot it outside without supervision. In fact most of the time the cat wants to be outside. Go away for several days and leave it in the house alone with a bowl of food, litter box and water. Try THAT with a dog.

Nope. No dog. But maybe someday.

When the Dumbplumber gets back from pulling a pump from a 300 ft well, I'll have him look at the car and see if he knows. He is a car savant.

Ignore the thing on the front of the car that looks like a grill. It is part of a building in the background.

Probably no later than a 56 vehicle based on the nose and the chrome strip on the side. Has teardrop spotlight which was a custom option back then.

Maybe a Chrysler or Hudson Packard. Definitely not Ford or Chevy.

Germans would probably have shot the photo with AgFa chrome (or B&W) German made film and would have written the umlaut.

Trooper York said...: The photo is from one of my favorite websites called "Black and White and WTF" which specializes in old timey black and white photos and is where I steal a lot of stuff.

I just find funny photo's and think of something to say about them. That is basically the way I do everything. I find the photo first and then write the copy; April 7, 2012 at 1:37 PM
