Hey I was busy....I have another job...just saying

Everybody was wondering where I was and why I was not posting but it is easy to understand. We spent the last two days in the city fabric shopping and it was a big pain in the balls.

We went to a couple of garment stores that are run by rag merchants. You know what that means. Haggling like the souk in Marrakesh. Also the joints are filthy dirty. The fabric is piled willy nilly and if you touch willy everything falls on your fuckin' feet.

I was looking at one role and the guy working there try's to pull it out like he is playing jenga. That made everything fall into a pile in the middle of the store. Those two girls in the back of this shot were actually much closer to the collapse and one of the roles got her right in her Meade. That must of hurt.

Anyhoo we found some stuff. So we had to have it measured and then wrapped up and then we had to bring it back to the store and carry it to the back room. Friday I have to bring it to the factory. It is a big pain in the ass.

But you have to do it if you want the good.

I just hate it when it falls on your feet. Jeeesh.

Love the outfit. It's like 'Titus Goes to the Rug Bazaar'.

What you think Titus would wear Hawaiian shirts and green khaki shorts?

Not fab enough.

No that was all the dust that fell on me.

I was like Haley's fuckin' comet with giving off fuckin' dust from that joint.

How much fabric do you buy at a time? It doesn't seem there is enough on those rolls to do more than a few dresses or tops? Do you buy the samples and then order? It would seem that you would get a better price per yard if you did the ordering in quantity. On the other hand, your fashion line would be all out of mostly the same fabrics with little variety.

Just wondering.

Yeah, it's dust, all right.

Glitter dust! Fabulous!

Most rolls of fabric have about 60 yards of fabric. At two yards a top you can do 30 tops and at 3 yards a dress you do 20 dresses. The idea in a small shop is to have variety. You pay a lot less when you do 100 dresses at a time so the idea is to made 25 of a print. Find four prints and you are in business. It has to be the same sort of fabric since you are making markers and you want to cut the dresses at the same time. Cotton is cut different then jersey or ITY. Thus you search out fun prints of the same type to put together a collection.

It would be ideal to purchase 1000 yards but we only do that in black.
That we have made special for us. But the variety helps us have a lot of choices in our store and is our trademark.

Of course you reject the rolls that are too small or the fabric that is not of the same type. That is what makes fabric shopping such a pain in the ass.

This line cracks me up. I've been a store like that in Chicago, looking to buy silk to use for pillow covers. The glittery stuff blowing off with the dust was my gratitude for having escaped with my life.
