Whose that white girl?

She wasn't in petticoat junction or the Beverly Hillbillies but she definitely played a lot of white trash roles. But then the devil made her do it most of the time. She was just a puppet. So to speak.

Whose that girl?

Karen Black was in a lot of crappy Altman films, which is probably why I don't remember her very well. But I do remember her co-stars: Peter Fonda, Jack Nicholson, Robert Redford, Charlton Heston, Richard Benjamin, Ned beatty, Kieth Caradine, Donald sutherland, Bruce Dern, etc.

By Altman films - I mean 70s films, which were mostly mediocre - just like Altman.

Its seems Altman directed most of his films half-drunk or on cocaine or MJ. One reason all the actors wanted to work with him; a well-paying non-stop party.

The other reason: He'd throw away the script and ad-libs. Actors love that, it strokes their ego.

rcocean, The worst film I ever saw was an Altman titled, Quintet. It starred Paul Newman. We gritted our teeth and watched ~45 minutes and then had to leave and resist the urge to gouge out our eyes.

Yeah, Altman always knew that was the secret to his success. "I tell the actors to do whatever they think is best, and they all say I'm a genius..."

That said The Player is a masterpiece of dark comedy/satire.

Altman and some other stoner were on a ship crossing the Atlantic.

Guy says "Man, that's a lot of water out there!"

Altman says "Yeah, and that's just the top of it!"

Karen Black...House of 1000 Corpses. Great film. She priced herself out of The Devil's Rejects.

She was in an episode of Adam 12, she was about 18. Shorty nighty and robe, victim of a peeping tom. I mean--who wouldn't?

She came on to Pete. Big time.
