S M Stirling put out another chapter.

S.M. Stirling has posted another chapter of his latest work "The Sword of the Lady." Catch it on his website along with the rest of his works. He is among the finest science fiction writers around today and his Emberverse series are great reading.

I just wish he would hurry up and finish the latest book for crying out loud.

No, it is in the second part of the Emberverse series. That starts with Dies the Fire which the flip side of the Sea of Time series. Stirling had the great idea of seeing what happened to our "timeline" when the island of Nantucket was ripped out and sent back in time. The premise is that the earth lost all of its technology that was greater than mediaeval times. No electricity or gunpowder for example. A tremendous "dying" time ensued where the population was destroyed because the economic system could not be sustained. The food couldn't get to the people in time to feed them. It is a very well thought out and plausible scenario. He also imagines different communities would grow based on different cultural models based on a leaders personal preferences. Medieval Norman chivalry, Celtic mystical clan’s men, Lakota nomadic hunter gatherers and others are all part of the mix. The first books in the series are necessary preludes to the current run. I recommend them as a great read. If you like science fiction you will love these books.
