Garage Mahal's Road Kill Korner

I finally heard from our old friend Garage Mahal. He hasn't been posting much these days as he has been very busy. But he sent me this photo. He called it his favorite "beaver shot."

I don't think he knows what that means.

No need to go all out chasing tail when it shows up on the side of the road ready for pick up.

Nobody loves you when you're a beaver struck down
On the side of the road.
Nobody loves you when you're a toad.
But a live Mr. Toad can still drive his motorcah into town.
So there's that.
Much to be said for stayin' alive...
Stayin' alive, stayin' alive, ah ha ha ha, stayin' alive.

Inga on her back? Figures.

The Mick wouldn't climb on the roof of a hotel to shoot this beaver.

Looks like the tail got squarshed worse.

Just hoping whoever ran over that one didn't turn the beaver back home into a dam widow!

That tail should sound familial to Michael Haz.

I was thinking it might ring a bell with the PI scoping out The Lodge and warning others about the dam widow.

@MamaM: Haz and I once traded truths about family and Wisconsin small towns. I spoke of Richland Center and he about Beaver Dam. Spinelli despises Wisconsin from what I can tell.

But Nick is well travelled and knows more than most about their own surroundings -- I'll give him that.

El Pollo, on the last half of the Tea Party thread over at Comment Home, NDSpinelli @ 7:05 pm issued the following indirect directive: Never respond directly to the psychotic, widow Nurse. If something requires a comment, always be indirect. Which squarshed the tail and incurred the wrath of the dam widow who was busy daubing mud and swishing branches over at Lodge.

El Polo's advice is sound.

chick, I don't hate Wi. @ all. I hate Madison. I've lived many places, and Wi. is down on the list. But, all places have their downsides. I like cheeseheads although they are very provincial. maybe that's what attracts Annie. I love the varied geography.

Mama, What pisses her off is not what I say about her, but that I have campaigned to marginalize her and her negative attention getting. She really is crazy.

Having worked the entire state of Wi. for 30 years, I probably know it better than 90% of lifelong residents. I worked many cases in both Richland Center and Beaver Dam. Both are nice towns. Too bad about Beaver Dam lake. My bride has a lifetime friend whose parents owned a bakery in Watertown for decades. They bought a cottage on Beaver Dam lake, hoping to have it be a retirement spot. The lake disappeared!

What is so sad is that these small towns used to have good local eateries. During the past 30 years they have been gradually destroyed by corporate chains. I could write a book about good local eateries. Unfortunately it would have to be a historical account, not a travel book. Corporate eateries are ubiquitous nationwide. But, they were able to take over Wi. in larger numbers because they prey upon a cheesehead trait, being cheap..err, frugal. And, they give LARGE portions, or ALL YOU CAN EAT. A double whammy FOR CHEESEHEADS.

Yeah, now you sound like Titus, Nick. There are two Carolinas. I am in the other one.

Plus, if one morning I awoke and had a net worth, after taxes, of over 100 million dollars, you would never hear from me again.

Take a swipe and then move on.

That sounds like a recipe for walking around with a smelly crack. At least take TWO swipes.

It was Nick's advice, Evi.
