Getting the show on the road is good, especially when it involves recovery!
I celebrated your survival and the discovery of the apnea this weekend as I pruned shrubs, feeling unusually thankful for my own breath and the return of yours.
That you're moving through stabilization to the test portion is good news.
ricpic, Thanks for the donation, we have a real community here. We have exceeded mine, and maybe most expectations. Total is now $388 w/ $272 left for gift cards. I'll make sure this gets done when our boy gets home and settled and Lisa has some time to take care of herself.
But wear the damn CPAP and follow orders! She is going to have enough to deal with without you being a pain in the ass!
AMEN.
Truly. When my husband was diagnosed with diabetes quite some time ago, he went into a deep, woe is me, my life is over depression. He is a very independent person and doesn't like people telling him what to do! SO when, I was doing the wifely thing about changing the diet and not providing the 'bad' foods, making sure he was doing his testing while we were learning what works and what doesn't, trying to get him to do the walking daily (I hate that too!!) he fought me every step of the way. Grumpy, irritable and mulish. A MAN!!
:-)
I finally had enough and said (Basically). "LOOK...I'm not your mother. I don't own your body and I can't TELL you what to do....BUT....when your fingers and toes are amputated, and you are losing your body parts by inches and you go blind because you won't fucking do the easy things NOW....do NOT expect that I will be wheeling you around or spooning oatmeal into your mouth. If you don't care enough to take the basic precautions that every one else who has this does or don't care enough about yourself to do it......then don't come whining to me when you are a vegetable."
We had no more pouting.
As it turned out his situation is not a very serious one and we can easily control it with diet and some mild medications. We can even still have cocktails (in moderation).
So...follow orders because the alternative is not a good one.

So much for unsolicited advice. lol
Okay mom. Geez, I'm making an appointment with my doctor okay?
DBQ, I do the cooking so when I was diagnosed w/ Type 2 I went through stages. First was denial. Then I got some "religion." I lost some weight, going from 280 to about 260. That was ok for awhile. But, it's a progressive disease, as you know. So, I really got religion w/ LOTS of walking[5-10 miles EVERY day]. I'm down to 225. But, soon I'll need to get lower. That's just the hand we're dealt. Many are dealt MUCH worse hands.
I hate Sarah Jessica Parker, Robin Williams, Tim Robbins, Susan Saradon, the BJ Hunnicut guy, brussel sprouts, the Boston Red Sox, commies and well, lawyers.

Your first treadmill adventure?
What about Borgnine therapy?
You'll feel better at home. But wear the damn CPAP and follow orders! She is going to have enough to deal with without you being a pain in the ass!
Nice to know that you're among the testees today, eh?
Hospitals are no place for a sick person.
Hang in there Troop.
Don't take the blue pill.
Again, As long as it's not spelling or intelligence tests, you'll do just fine.
Praying for you chez Adams, Trooper.

Around here we like Dr. McNinja: "Cancel my diabetic patients today. I'm tired of their guff."
The Boy was diagnosed at 11 with diabetes (though he'd had it his whole life, upon reflection).
Draws his own blood 3-4 times a day, at least, and gives himself injections six times a day.
So. Yeah. Quitcherbitchin'.
