Enter Dr. Strange

It looks like one of my favorite Marvel characters might be getting his own movie.

Dr. Strange is reported to be in development with Joseph Gordon-Leavitt from "3rd Rock from the Sun" to play the title role.

Some hints were displayed in the Thor movie so there might be a crossover as well.

I look forward to it.

There was a kid at school who read Dr. Strange comic books. Nice guy, but, well, strange.

I was more of a Silver Surfer guy myself. Wonder whatever happened to my issue #1...

They already made the Silver Surfer movie and it was very true to the original comic book.

It just didn't get any traction.

Dr, Strange has a lot more room to work especially if they bring in the Lovecraft stuff that they allude to in the comics.

It could be great!

It was a toss up if I wanted to do Baron Zemo or Dr. Strange.

But RH Hardin already had the strange locked up so there you go.

Leavitt's a capable actor.

Did you see those trailers he did for Don Jon? It seems funny as hell (and is getting 100% on Rotten Tomatoes - didn't even know that was possible).

So waddaya think? Funny or too ethnic and over the top a caricature?

If nothing else, it adds a little levity to an archetype not seen since Travolta did Saturday Night Fever.

Joseph Gordon-Leavitt is a no no no no no for me. This roll requires someone older and more mature. Someone who can pull off the Dr. Strange mystique as a doctor who thinks himself God, only to be brought down low by his car accident and ruining his hands. I am a Marvel Fanboi, however, believe it or not, I think the best actor for this roll is Hugh Laurie. He's played a doctor who has a God complex, so he can do tat easily, he can pull of an east coast waspy American accent without a problem. He has the body type, he has the face type, he has the acting chops and he's a mature enough actor who could certainly apply his considerable acting skills to bring Dr. Strange to life. I hope they don't fuck this up.

I wish they would do a solo Silver Surfer movie. That would be great to see.

Whatever happened to Dr. Kill? He was an early commenter on my blog and used to comment here before it went underground.

I used to have a "Silver Surfer" avatar which had a "Pollo Del Mar" logo as well. I stole it from a SoCal band name.

When's Nathan Fillion getting his character?

If this movie was made 5 years ago, we'd have Shia LeBoeuf in the title role, so I'm glad they waited.
