The Rifleman

Lucas McCain and his son Mark were in town on a cloudy Friday in July. Lucas had some banking to do and of course Mark was at school. Lucas decided to kill some time at the jail with his friend Sheriff Micah Torrance while he was waiting for Mark to finish so they could ride back home together. He was on his second cup of coffee when his son burst into the room.
"Pa, Pa are you here?"
"Yes I am here Mark," replied Lucas "why are you in such an all fangled hurry. Did you see a ghost?"
"No Pa but something pretty strange. Do you remember that Indian fella that has been hanging around town for the past couple of months?"
"I know him," answered Micah. "They call him Chief Stalking Horse. Did he cause any trouble Mark. Is he bothering you?"
"Why do you say that Micah" asked Lucas. "Is he a trouble maker?"
"Well he is drunk all the time Lucas boy. He doesn't do much. Just gets sad and drinks some more. And sing sad Spanish songs."
"Why Spanish songs Micah" piped up Mark. "I thought he was an Indian."
"Most of the Indians here in New Mexico speak Spanish Mark. I think Stalking Horse is either an Apache or a Puerto Rican. I can't figure out which. You know like Sal Mineo."
"So what did he do Mark?"
"It's not what he did Pa it was who he was with. He was with Lonesome Larry. Or Lying Larry like everyone is calling him since he started that ruckus with Paulie the sign maker. They were whispering and talking in secret. I think Lying Larry is trying to convince him to do something. It was strange because nobody talks to Lying Larry anymore. Most turn away. But this fella didn't do anything either when the fight was going on. Maybe he agreed with it. Do you thinks so Micah?"
"No I don't think so Mark. Stalking Horse is a right nice fella if a drunk and morose one. I don't think he has mean bone in his body. But I hope he doesn't get convinced to do something he shouldn't do. That Lying Larry can be pretty convincing. Look how he got that dried up old spinster to marry him and give him half of her ranch. That was impressive I have to say. But I will keep an eye on him. Thanks for letting me know Mark."
"No problem Micah. I would hate to see him get in trouble."
"You are a good boy Mark. Here is a penny. Go get yourself some candy and stare at Miss Milly's teats. I will be along directly."
"Thanks Pa."

Anyone having a drink? I'll join ya.

I'm a bad Christian (if I were a Christian). All this talk about forgiveness (who's forgiving who again for what?)... and all I know is, I see LSL there being all chummy and cutesy-poo, sets my teeth on edge.

Which means I have to back off. I shouldn't let this bother me: have to remind myself, it's just like I'm watching a reality show.

(If only real people, who were hurt and are capable of being hurt, weren't involved.)

Anyway, yeah: it seems from what Lem is saying now at beta's post there, that he doesn't want to do this anymore. Doesn't want the role he's taken on (or the role that took over him).

"I have to get off this ride."

"I want to turn this over to somebody else."

I guess that means he wants to be a commenter, not a blogger (or blog owner). I certainly don't blame him. (Though I wonder what, or who, brought that on.)

But, now what? Can someone else just take over?

Trooper York said...

I don't know. I think Lem plays an important role. Everybody trusts him. Now at least. I just think he can be manipulated. They love to accuse me of being a master manipulator so I think I have to stay out of it. I have an axe to grind.

I will be interested to see how this plays out.

yashu said...

LOL, Trooper, again. Great episode (yet kinda sad, like the last one). And right on.

Trooper York said...

Unlike Leisure Suit Larry I am not going to go over there and try and control Lem. Larry does himself no good while he tries to turn this situation to his advantage. I would have thought that people like Freeman Hunt and Synova and Chip would see through him. I know Chickie and Pastafarian do. Palladian checked out of the game. So like I said. It will interesting.

Trooper York said...

I have some great new charaters. Like Miz Coleman the school teacher who is all prim and proper.

And the fat drunk drummer who sells lady's clothes.

It could be fun.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

And I like the new episode of the Rifleman very much. Makes up for when they took the Virginian off Netflix.

yashu said...

I think Lem plays an important role.

Yep. It's a role I honestly can't see anyone else take, really. Who bears a grudge against Lem?

He doesn't take sides. He's such a good guy, but he's never sanctimonious or scold-y. He's funny, but not obnoxious. Politically passionate, but never gets nasty. He's among everybody's favorite commenters, but he's not part of any clique. Everyone likes him and trusts him. (His elliptical commenting style helps.)

I'm also interested to see what happens.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

He won't put me on the blog roll, but that is because he worries it will insult Ann and Meade (which of course it would).

MamaM said...

The creative potential that's been released and realized since the Explosion and Shutdown at TOP has been Supersploogerific.

yashu said...

Maybe it would be good for someone with a stronger hand to take over. But that could kill it, too.

My druthers would be someone who's not so attached, doesn't feel so permanently indebted, to the Madison couple.

Can a blog be run by committee? I mean there are all those contributors (a variety I like)-- can it work without one person at least nominally in charge?

Chip S. said...

I think Lem's blog is now being run by the Freedmen's Bureau. It's the gov't, and it's there to help.

Trooper York said...

I personally think Chip Ahoy is the guy to run it. He seems to be into blogging and is very creative. He is not obsessed with the lovely couple and can be pretty fair.

I would love chickie to get it but I think he is too closely associated with me.

Freeman Hunt would be a disaster.

Pasta would be too combative. He and I share too many traits.

Synova would also be great but I think she is too busy with her life to do it.

I agree: Chip Ahoy or Synova. (Chick would be great, but as you said, has strong allegiances elsewhere.)

Chip S. said...

You guys are right about the ideal leader of that blog, but I think the transfer of ownership has already occurred, de facto.

Trooper York said...

I would not participate at a blog that Freeman Hunt ran. She is just as big a partisan of Leisure Suit Larry as Chickie is of me. So a neutral party would be best I think. Which is what Lem more or less was.

Of course they might look my non-participation as a feature and not a bug so that is that. Just sayn'

Trooper York said...

If you are right Chip than that is a sad thing.

Palladian said...

I think we need a new, neutral place, with firmly established procedures and guidelines, with Wordpress as the engine.

I feel like I can't go back to "Lem's" place. There's too much neurosis and psychosis, the well is thoroughly poisoned.

I asked Laurence Meade and his wife to never discuss me in public again since I refunded his money, and yet he (apparently) keeps bringing it up, all the while knowing that I'm not around to defend myself.

I just don't need that kind of darkness in my life. I can't handle it at this point. Through the immense kindness and generosity of various commenter friends, I have started getting my life together again, and taking stock of what is important to me, what I want my life to be like, how I want to act, how I want to live.

The scales were really torn from my eyes by LM and AA. It reminded me of how life was for me right before high school, when I was being psychologically and physically abused by my mother's (now ex and dead) husband. The casual blindness to evil reminds me of my mother, who shut herself off to avoid seeing what was being done to me and to her. I reminds me that I took a giant, terrifying step and left home when I was 15, a step that probably saved my life, but also left me permanently afraid and permanently unable to suffer abuse and manipulation without eventually running away.

As public as I am about some aspects of my life, I am essentially, fundamentally closed-off and fragile inside, and I find being publicly exposed to be so unbearably painful that I'm tempted to "disappear" my online self, forever, another life-preserving escape.

Notice how Larry's story about the demise of commenting at TOP has changed yet again? Used to be that there were only two commenters worth shit, and everybody else sucked donkey dick. That was when Destroy Lem's Blog was the order of the day.

Now, suddenly, there were only two evil commenters who ruined a wonderful thing for everyone else. And I Don't Have To Tell You Who They Are.

That tells me that the grifter thinks he's already got his stooge in charge, ready to bring the flock back into the fold.

Minus a couple of bad apples, of course.

Trooper York said...

I respect what you have to say and feel for you you big homo. That is feel for you not feel you. Calm down.

Facing evil is very tough. Especially when you are hurting. But isolation and hiding never work out well in the long run. If it were me I would make a farewell post. You don't have to get into anything specific. Just share some of what you have said here in a general non-attacking mode. But I totally understand if you can't do that.

You will always have a place to hang out here you big homo. So keep your chins up. Tomorrow is another day.

That's true Evi.

I always said that I went to TOP for the commenters. Most of the good ones went over to Lem's place. The freewheeling style and the different bloggers seemed to be working out great. I would miss some of them if they left and went back to TOP. But what are you gonna do?

Chip S. said...

Some of my favorite old TOP commenters seem to be sitting this out. Paul Zrimsek, bgates, Chef Mojo, Calypso Facto, Tim in SF, Virgil Xenophon, and the two Scotts come to mind immediately. I'm not sure if Madison Man comments at Lem's, but he'd also be on my list.

Most of my other faves are right here.

They might be totally on board the Althouse bullet train to hell. MadisonMan is too wishy washy but he emailed them and posted under the new regime.

This feels like that movie with the aliens that you can only see with sunglasses and I feel like Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Does that mean I have to wear a kilt?

Trooper York said...

I think many of the guys you mentioned started posting when I was taking a break from TOP and I do not have a relationship with them or I would have invited them to post here.

I posted how to get an invite often enough the past few days and some other people have taken advantage of it to join up. The people you mentioned seem to have dropped off the grid.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Primacy is a big factor. People hate admitting their first impulses were wrong. If you never bought in big to AA and LM in the first place, it is not hard to see them for what they are. But to true believers like Lem and FH, it is very difficult. Especially when they consider most of us bastards that ruined Althouse.

Chip S. said...

Mostly I only see TOP posts now that people here refer to. But I did appreciate the fact that what seemed to be her longest post in a while was about a train wreck.

Chip S. said...

bgates in particular threw some of the best barbs I've ever seen at EBL. (S)he would've fit right in here.

Palladian said...

I won't post it here, of course, but the most troubling and hurtful message to me came from Ann Althouse herself.

That's what I really can't get over, her husband aside.

Palladian said...

And I also collected all the emails that Laurence Meade and I traded, regarding those prints and my "fraudulent business practices". I wish I could post them over at Lem's site, they tell a huge part of the story that isn't being told, but I can't. I don't want any more attention from them. I want this to just go away.

Palladian said...

... but I also want people to know that I'm not a fraud or con artist.

Chip S. said...

I'm w/ yashu in being unable to see how anyone who saw what was done to you can treat Larry w/ anything but contempt.

Trooper York said...

Well I appreciate what you are saying Palladian and I don't think any honest appraisal would label you a con artist. I do think that you have a lot of friends there who are worried about you and don't have access here to hear you speak.

So a simple and heartfelt post where you say so long might assuage some of those concerns. Don't talk about Meade. Simply say that things were bad and now they are looking up and you are ok and will see you around. A classy post might be just the catharsis you need to wrap it up.

But I don't want to convince you to do anything. Despite what Freeman Hunt says I do not want to manipulate you to attack Meade. Do what you think is best. If laying low is what you need right now then that is what you should do.

We have your back.

Luckily it is so big we can all fit behind it.

Trooper York said...

On the other hand be prepared for Leisure Suit Larry to lose his shit and come after you full throttle. Don't read his comments.

It is a tough choice. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

We are here to help.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Palladian, they are small people. Do what you think best. I wish you the best in this.

Trooper York said...

See you have a cow at your back. You can even get a horn up your ass.

Is that a gay thing?

Chip S. said...

Trooper's right that Larry would just throw more turdballs.

Nobody thinks Palladian is a con artist. Larry's lackeys refuse to acknowledge the obvious truth about him, but even they can't possibly think that what he says about Palladian is true.

Palladian said...

Luckily it is so big we can all fit behind it.

Palladian said...

And I don't blame you for not wanting to tangle with them again, Palladian. One of the posts from "fionamcwhatevs" talked about being well prepared to do battle (I don't remember the wording). Why give people wanting to do evil any opportunity?

Meade and Althouse are the only losers in that exchange between you and Meade. Know that.

p.s. Don't go away.

If Lem doesn't want to be responsible for the blog that he started, it is really easy. I don't blame him. I wouldn't want to be tied down to a blog. I mean I have two blogs, but if I decide to neglect them....no one cares.

He is currently the "Aministrator" and he can add other users as "Authors" and can easily change one of the Authors into being Administrator..

He should just make an announcement that he is stepping down as administrator and handing the job off to someone else. He doesn't even need to say who the Admin is.

Instead of closing down a perfectly nice coffee house, we are just changing proprietors.

Maybe someone could forward him this information. I sent him an email previously and he didn't respond back to me, so I don't think I'm a favored commenter ..../shrug.

Notice how Larry's story about the demise of commenting at TOP has changed yet again?

As it will continue to do so again and again and again and again.

Not sure which elements changed this time but last I saw over the course of two days he went from saying he'd wanted the comments to stay and fought against EBL's plan to remove them from saying that he's wanted them to go ever since he got his ass aboard the Madison Express.

You're forgetting the most salient thing. Everything they say is simply for the sake of manipulation and nothing has any truth to it beyond that. Even her take on art was a way of reminding you, nearly every day, of just how much perspective can be warped and manipulated. The fish-eye thing. Each open cafe comments thread. It's ok, let's change up the mood just like that 'cause I said so!

The shame of it now is Larry's insistence on persistence as that's already seemed to permanently change the tone of the blog. They are accepting him way too easily. A year-long ban might not have been time enough, if you'd asked me. Or even three years.

He's regaining control. Yes, Lem's capacity for being manipulated is astonishing.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Why do you think Paddy O was talking about tricks of influence.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Meade is toxic. He is just one of those people you do not want in your life.

Trooper York said...

I think he was being subtle but that is how you lose elections. The low information comment thinks it is all fine and dandy. I notice how Leisure Suit Larry is going to the end of dead threads and leaving a shot that will not be replied to since the thread is dead. He did it to me and to Spinelli who are two of his chief antagonists.

I don't want to reply because it is just not worth it. I am willing to suspend judgment and wait and see what happens.

Trooper York said...

But I will repeat if Freeman Haig comes out and says she is in control....well I will just make myself scarce. It is as simple as that.

Let's see what Chief Stalking Horse does before we jump to conclusions.

Trooper York said...

Oh and by the way I mean the low information commenter. I still am not awake yet. Sorry.

Trooper York said...

It will be only a matter of time until Leisure Suit Larry commits another atrocity. So we can be patient.

Chennaul said...

Okay I'm going to comment first then read the thread backwards--but--

*is* Lem ignoring Larry--or is that the Jose Cuervo?

(now going to read you guys.)

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

It's not going to stop, Troop. "Lem's" blog is Larry and Annie's attempt to control from afar. It might not entirely be The Larry and Lem Show, but it might as well be at this point. His influence and persistence assures enough instability to obviate any peaceful "home away from home" or a "second home" or even just a better place. It's like Livia Soprano moved in with Tony and the kids.

Trooper York said...

I hear you but I still want to reserve judgment. I have faith in the integrity of people like Chickie, Synova, Chip Ahoy, Paddy O and Pastafarian. Others not so much. But I don't those guys would be party to any such manipulation. I do think they might be caught holding the bag. Or having to pay the check when the Althouses dine and dash. They have done that to me before.

Trooper York said...

I don't think they would be party to any such shenanigans.

Palladian remember when you and Trooper met her at the restaurant and she didn't even bother to tell you a kind lie as to why she was an hour late?

"I'm late because I was going to cancel because no one interesting was showing up?"

Give me a gawd damn break--that is classic.

You and Trooper--not "interesting"?

Anyways--no wonder she latched onto Palladian--some real evil can happen when an NPD gets a hold of someone near the autistic spectrum.

Also Chip Ahoy is probably not the person because......

there is something going on there.

Chennaul said...

It could be coincidence but I doubt it.

Also....from my experience...from what I am seeing at Althouse do not be surprised if she is gearing up to flop down one hell of a--

"victim card."

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Troop, I agree with you re: Chickie's, Synova's, Paddy O's, and even Pasta's integrity. Esp. Paddy O's. But integrity alone won't cut it. That needs to be combined with good judgment calls and some fortitude. And if you have someone determined enough there will always be a way for him to warp and needle - esp. if that's really his only goal. Honestly, the best hope for that blog is the fact that they're all younger than Larry and can hope that he runs out of steam or interest before they do.

Trooper York said...

I think you are right. The people who have the integrity might not want to get into a fight about it. They might just opt out of the equation. Fortitude is tough. Not everybody has it. Or has it at the right time. Or they might have it and not use it. I didn't when I should have punched the producer of my show in the fuckin face. But I let money get in the way. I will always regret it but there you are.

So I am not going to judge. People have to do what they want to do. You can't hide anything in this world. It always comes out. We just have to wait and see. But you can fool some of the people all of the time. That is what LSL is counting on.

Trooper York said...

And Maddy you are right about Chip.
There is something else going on.

I just think it is very impressive that he is posting so much interesting stuff from so deep in the closet. It must be dark in there. Just sayn'

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

I think there's some room for hope in that the number of contributors is a force against the number of threads he can derail. I'm just looking at the technical things at this point as my desire to reserve judgment is now morphing into an admission of what's the worst that he could do? He's just a troll after all - maybe stronger than Lem but hopefully not the rest of the blog as a whole. I guess the power he's given as a troll depends on how much one digs back into those better memories. It must be really hard for those of you who've had a history of trusting him/her as much as you did.

For someone with such an experience, it would make sense that he'd refer to "grace". It actually would have been an important part of moving forward. Instead he stepped backward into the muck with another one and/or either came a bit pathological this time as a result instead.

Ah.. interesting @12:28. That explains more. Did you know he tried to have conversations with me about that sort of thing on my own blog?

For someone with such an experience, it would make sense that he'd refer to "grace". It actually would have been an important part of moving forward. Instead he stepped backward into the muck with another one and/or either came a bit pathological this time as a result instead.

*********

Okay--so you are getting a more benign read from it?

It still wouldn't surprise me if they know about stuff here.

Plus Freeman demanding that everything be out and that no one should talk where she can't know what is going on--

that doesn't happen in the real world so why have that expectation online?

chickelit said...

Trooper York said...
But I will repeat if Freeman Haig comes out and says she is in control....well I will just make myself scarce. It is as simple as that.

I don't think that is too likely at this point, but if she knew that, she might try it. She's not in charge. It's a consensus, with deference to Lem.

However, I could chirbit such a dust-up though: Nixon reassures Freeman Hunt

I have quite a few chirbits already in my quiver. When I need more, I make them ad libitum.

Trooper York said...

I had an experience with Miss Hunt back in the first fight I had with ALthouse a few years ago. She asked for my email and I told her if she had something to say she could say it to the whole class. She got very pissy about it and ever since then it has been very touchy. I try to avoid her if I can.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Okay--so you are getting a more benign read from it?

Not really. Even if something was important for him coming out of a bad experience that doesn't give him the right to turn into a douchebag (and again, even if he'd gotten hurt it doesn't mean he wasn't a douchebag to begin with), nor does it give him the right to say that others need to get over things in the same way he did, especially when it's for ends as self-serving as his and Annie's.

Nope, he's still a douche. Even Hitler might have burned himself on a stove, once. Assholes can hurt also.

"the fist of it"... Lol. Was that an intentional typo?

El Pollo

we found it.

Flipping Larry dropped the word "grace" when talking about Palladian to me in the thread and I was reading Palladian's emails to the gang here and I thought he might be trying to let Palladian know that they are informed of what is going on over here and/or reading here.

I think Ritmo believes it is not intended that way.

Just to clear the air, having a lot going for oneself is not a bad thing unless it makes it impossible for you to relate to or sympathize with or care for those who don't. And only Freeman can honestly say whether in her case it does or doesn't.

The template kind of sucks, because it's WordPress, but the security is much better, I hope.

I can't begin to do what Chip Ahoy does. He's brilliant. My sensibilities are lower key and more obscure, and I'm just not as good.

But I would love to have Palladian come over and say something. If Palladian wants to put up a rebuttal post, he's certainly welcome. It would raise a shitstorm, but, as I say, I have the keys to the gate. Also, if Larry or someone like him sneaks in, I have the power to make them say anything I want. You would have an abject apology to Palladian under Larry's (or related sockpuppet's) name faster than you can say "J. Lohr Cabernet."

Anyway, here it is.

Palladian would be great too-- but unfortunately, that place is probably too poisoned for him now.

No, they need someone more hard-headed than that, someone with a lot more bastard in them.

Mostly, moderation should be hands off, only stepping in when things get out of hand. Revealing personal information, for example, or straight forward trolling. Or trying to take over a thread solely for the sake of personal drama, which is Inga's biggest and most repeated crime. But whoever was doing that would need to be thick skinned personally and straightforward in their approach.

At this point the Toxic Avenger and Nurse Ratched need to disappear for a month, just to see how things develop. (I would say permanently, but there is ZERO change of that happening.) After that, give them probational status until they hang themselves again. But let the thing breathe and develop on its own. It's still very new and very much a by-the-seat-of-its-pants venture.

Icepick said...

That is feel for you not feel you.

Icepick said...

Palladian, if you want to post those emails somewhere else, you can either set up a quickie blog on blogger, or I can even post them on my personal blog. Sorry I didn't want to bother Troop with that in email and I knew it would cause too much drama where there already is too much drama--

Icepick said...

I think the opposite. Well almost the opposite. When you get a J or an Inga they have to be deleted. Otherwise anything goes.

Trooper, I don't care about people fighting, or getting into it with each other. I've been at it in the last four weeks with a couple of stupid fucks that can't read (Roger J and phx) and wouldn't delete a thing either of them have written. That's how it goes. (Roger J is here some of the time, and I am sure his opinion is that I'm the stupid fuck. And I've got no problem with that.)

The problem with "J" and Inga and Meade (and others) is that they derail entire sections of blogs by making everything about their personal bullshit. And THAT should not be permitted. I wouldn't leave Meade's bullshit up because making Meade look like the douche nozzle he is isn't the point.

Fostering a place for people to hang out, write and read about things that interest them, have conversations that start one place and wander off into other realms, have fun, get angry, fight, bicker, make-up (but not make-out: no icky stuff, please, just porn), make friends, make enemies, or whatever else is the point. I'm not at all interested in seeing "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" as a movie, and even less interested in living it.

That's what I mean about having a hard-ass in charge: Someone to clean out the absolute crap and not sweat the small stuff. Lem's not tough enough (IMO) to do the first part, and Freeman (to name another) would likely be too strict for the other.

Icepick said...

"I think Bags would be good at it. Not that he'd probably ever want to do it."

I don't think I would be good at it. I would need the ability to ban people, but would only use it for those who just ugly up the place. A chronic Titus or J type, who are just gross and ugly in a childish attempt to shock. That's just like picking up dog shit in the front yard to me.

I would not have banned Meade for his recent assholery, even though I found it extremely ugly. People came to Palladian's defense and countered it well.

I would not be motivated enough to work it, unless as I suggested to Lem, it was heavily monetized and the proceeds went to charity. I don't need money so it's no problem to work for free personally, but I need to be accomplishing something like supporting charity.

Lastly, I'm just not talented in the writing/blogging arts like Trooper, Althouse, and apparently, Chip Ahoy. That's a special talent to be able to consistently produce content like that.

" Bags seems like he's got dickish streak behind those blue eyes."

That's very sweet of you, but that dickish streak, is from dragging a bag of dicks around, and they're actually green. No, not the dicks.

Honestly though, I'm too much of a pussy. I even perfume my bag of dicks.

That reminds me of something I wanted to say to Palladian. Why don't you get it together and sell those scents big time. If Trooper is willing to give you a spot in his store, you should be jumping on mound of round and pumping it for everything you can.

BTW, I would love to see you develop an "Eau de Bag of Dicks".

DO it anyway!! Screw them.

Here is how I do my leg of lamb. I would love to hear your recipe. It is always a treat when I can find someone who will help me eat it. My husband doesn't care for lamb so I rarely make it at home. It must be rare!

Butterfly Leg of Lamb BBQ. Really a simple recipe.

Bone and butterfly the leg of lamb. Use 4 large metal skewers and criss cross the in a sort of square skewering the lamb so it will lay flat and not curl on the bbq. Early in the morning make a marinade (measurments estimated) of 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice, 1/4 cup dry white wine, crushed fresh rosemary, cracked pepper. Sometimes I will also use fresh parsley or chives In a shallow roasting pan pour the marinade over the skewered lamb. In refrigerator turn several times to keep lamb basted in marinade. About an hour before cooking take the meat out to let it get to room temperature.

I bbq over an indirect bed of coals. Coals on each side of the lamb. And then at the very end move it over the hot coals to sear a crust. I also sprinkle the lamb with sea salt for the last couple of turns on the coals.

I like my lamb rare and the butterflied lamb allows the thickest part to be rare, while the more narrow parts are more well done. Everyone gets some to the level of doneness that they like.

:-)

Pretty much everything you said actually convinces me even more you'd be good at it.

Other than the banning Meade thing. I think I might've done that. Or at least suspended him or something.

And I second your call to Palladian about selling his scents.

If he needs money to start up with the supplies or whatever, he could probably do a crowd source type of fund raising.

Or he could just take on a couple of partners. I'm sure he wouldn't have to look far for people who'd be interested.
