Sometimes you can ignore what people say....

Sometimes you can't.

When you become a public figure you have to be careful what you say. The smallest controversial comment can go and bite you in the ass. That is why I made the blog private in the first place. Unscrupulous people would take things out of context and tar you with the brush they wanted to paint you with.

Victor Cruz is learning all about that. He tweeted a nasty George Zimmerman tweet. To the tune that
“Thoroughly confused. Zimmerman doesn’t last a year before the hood catches up to him.”

Now I don't think that is all that controversial. I mean he is saying that some fool is going to take a run at Zimmerman and he won't last a year. Unless he moves to Idaho or something. But this tweet caused an uproar and he had to do the ritual humiliation tour.

It sucks what this country has become. You can't say what you want. You can't be off color or racial or anything with out the politically correct going after you. It is not good. What it does is push that sentiment underground.

Where it can explode in the most unexpected ways.

Is Aaron Hernandez a white hispanic? If so, Victor Cruz better - hold on a second - his name is Cruz? And he's carryin' on like that? By "'hood" did he mean barrio?

Can't these guys get their stories straight?

Yeah, I was kidding - they are football players.

By the way that is not a picture of Lem in case you were wondering.

Cruz is just expressing what the vast majority of people in the black community think. I did not take offense at it, I think someone will take a run at Zimmerman too. He would be wise to leave the country for a while and let things cool down.

Sixty, Hernandez is from my hometown of Bristol, Ct. I played baseball against his uncle, Vito. I knew Vito pretty well. A good guy. His mother is Italian and his father is Puerto Rican. Aaron's dad, is Vito's brother. I knew who he was but that was about it. Aaron's dad I believe married an Irish girl, so the defendant is dago, pr, and mick.

I'm confused, nick. The Puerto Rican uncle is the one named Vito?

ChipS, Sorry if I didn't explain it well. Vito is Aaron's uncle. Aaron's grandparents are pr and dago. Aaron's old man died a few years back. I think his name was Dennis. Dennis and Vito were brothers. I think Dennis married a mick.

Zimmerman should move to my town. We have tons of Hispanic peoples, mostly all very nice family oriented church going too. They have run the gang bangers out of the area on their own. The pot growers are mostly on the Federal forest and BLM lands and don't mingle much. Most of the Hispanics are ranch hands and diesel mechanics to keep the farm equipment going, run a couple of nice restaurants or drive hay trucks down to the valley to sell the hay and alfalfa to the Portuguese dairy farmers. He would fit in very well, maybe even join the citizen's patrol. If George is bilingual that would be a plus.

We weren't too worried about riots or people from da hood.....since we have all of two black people living in our area and any influx of one or two outside agitators would be really noticeable and easily taken care of by the good ole boy rednecks that abound in fly over country.

Why we do not have black people living here? I have no idea. Probably it is the weather, the isolation, no fast food restaurants, no McDonalds within 80 miles..... and that there is nothing to do other than hunt, fish, ride horses, hike, swim, golf, ski, join the 4H or FFA and other country types of activities. Maybe they can't live out of their urban environment or don't want to be away from their comfort zone? I hope no one thinks that is racist. It is just the facts....jack.

No, you explained it well, nick.

I'm just confused that it wasn't the Italian uncle who was named Vito.

I'm a profiler.

DBQ, When I first moved to Wi. there was a market for dairy farm hands. For the most part, farm hands were alcoholics who worked for cash and were of course, unreliable. A dairy farmer needs reliable people or else they can't take a day off. In the 90's, Mexicans started moving into Wi. in large numbers. One of their niches is being dairy farm hands. They are so reliable the farmers feel comfortable taking vacations and leaving them in charge. Often, the farm hand gets a free or cheap old farm house on the property to live w/ his family.

Aaron's old man was about 6 or 7 years younger than Vito. The whole family were good to great athletes. Vito was ~6'3" and played baseball, b-ball and football.

Piers Morgan challenged Larry Elder to debate something regarding the Zimmerman trial. Will this settle the racial wars over the trial and balance the scales of justice when this black man destroys the white boy?

As long as Obama and Holder and all the other hard lefties aren't challenged directly, aren't called for what they are, things will get worster and worster. Methadras made a very important comment in the Lem thread about wanting the country to get back to limited government and..well, to decency. Don't we all. But the other side is passionate about ending what we grew up in. And even what we grew up in was already a fouled version of the original. Anyway, what Methadras wants will have to be fought for. And step one is the end of the wishy washy non-opposition known as the GOP. A no holds barred opposition party will have to be birthed and then go at the Dems and their hydraheaded marxist comrades hammer and tongs or the decency Methadras longs for doesn't stand a chance.
