Now I don't ricpic to get worried.....
But I got a new oven this week.
My old one was about twenty years old and it started to fall apart. The oven door fell off a few times and now it wasn't closing all the way. It really got beat up because I use it all the time. I don't bake very much but I prepare roasts and all kinds of baked savory dishes.
The new oven is just a standard everyday one from Sears. I didn't go crazy. When I bought one for my Mom it was an industrial strength Viking stove. It was a big magilla to install and we had to buy a stove hood and exhaust that cost almost as much as the stove. I didn't want that so I went minimalist.
Always buy a stove on the hottest day of the year. For the same reason you buy an air conditioner in December. That's when you can get the best deal.
I bet ricpic would agree. Just sayn'

When they are selling buy! When they are buying sell!
I hope you don't get the gas line hooked up until after the BoSox have finished slapping the NYY around.
I'd really, really hate to see you go all Sylvia Plath on us.
Now you're cookin' with gas!
Don't get me started on Vikings. I know the guy who started that business. If I was Sicilian he would be gatso or stugats or whatever word they use for sleepin' with the fishes.
Joe Pesci - that's it.
I bought a stove that has gas for the pots on top but the oven is electric/convestion. Gas ovens are not very precise. But, electric on top is horseshit. That's what I have to use in Sand Diego.
If you're going to do bacon, I'm here to tell you that the Water Method is horseshit compared to the Alton Brown Baking method, discovered in the comments of TOP. Per usual, it wasn't the tastiness of the initial topic that ended up making my day, but the commenter input I most appreciated.
Turn oven on (set for 400)
Place bacon strips on foil covered metal tray with sides
Put tray in the oven as it is heating up to temp.
Set timer for 15 minutes and check.
(16-17 min cooking time with my oven) No fuss, less muss, and great tasting bacon.
It's BLT and Iced Tea season at the Mhouse.

I tried the water method after Althouse posted it. While the texture was juicier and crispy after the water left, it splattered like hell and burned me and my daughter. Not recommended. I do mine outdoors on the gas grill.
Mmm, bacon...
Bacon.
Before my son drove, I used to run lunch over to him every day. It was usually some sort of bacon cheeseburger. I'd toss in extra bacon on top of the french fries in his to go box. His friends loved him for it.
Bacon.
I've nearly played out my string here, and once the death panels kick in I will be gone for sure.
So I try to have a piece of bacon every day.
Bacon.
Obligatory
"No, there ain't no moral, I just like that story."
Me too.
It makes me laugh every time I hear it.
Somehow, Trooper getting a new oven from Sears in the middle of a heat wave cheers my fly-over-country heart too.
Those movies were great. When I was younger I didn't understand. Now I get them.
Bacon!
