The end of the day is time for Limoncello!

We went inside to eat because it was too hot in the yard and the mosquitos started to act up. I served a simple dessert of fresh berries over gelato and whipped cream.

Oh and of course some Limoncello that I had in the freezer.

That is some good shit right there.

I was introduced to limoncello where it originates, Sorrento. It is now my favorite after dinner drink. At the time hardly anyone in the US knew what it was, and it was sold hardly anywhere.

It is so good when it is ice cold.

That's the only way. I have it in the freezer, w/ my Beefeaters for martini's.

It is easy to make at home. I use Meyer Lemons which are superior. I zest them, add that to grain alcohol. Let that sit about two weeks, drain through a new clean coffee metal filter (buy one just for this) and then add simple syrup to cut it (slowly add it).

I also do it with tangerines.

I agree with ndspinelli that the best limoncello is served cold while having dinner in Positano overlooking the Sea. The second best is right now if you are not there.
