So it went pretty well....but why do you feel let down?

Well the wholesale event with the Japanese went pretty well yesterday. They bought twice as much as the season before. That is a pretty good progression and by any reasonable estimate it was great. Of course when you measure all of the work that went in to it you can't help but be a little disappointed. I guess you hopes are always so much more than your expectations. I can't complain at all. We just have to work at increasing our wholesale market. We have a pretty good start.

We set it up in the new back store and got it all ready for the opening. The buyers sat through the presentation and then went through the rack and photographed and wrote up what they ordered. They did 25 different styles which is pretty great. It took a while to get through them all.

We had presents for them. Italian cookies and a small gift.

They were impressed by my Matsui Bobble head though. So there is that.

Finally we finished off Japan!

And we didn't even have to drop the big one!

We worked like dogs last week to finalize the Japan order. We had to run to the Container Store to get boxes since Amazon fucked up the delivery of the delivery boxes we had order.

We had to box up each part of the order with a packing slip and an invoice.

We were in the store until three in the morning on Sunday night and delivered it in midtown on Monday.

Of course I had to call on my faithful Bengali companion to transport it to the office. He had to leave me sitting in the drivers seat while he went upstairs. I almost shit my pants. I don't know how to drive and would have to eat the ticket if the cops or worse the brownies came along. Luckily nothing happened.

Mission accomplished!

Another late night......

While we put together the Japan order.

Or rather Lisa, our granddaughter and Nicolette our new employee put it together. I am banned because I was exhausted yesterday and I am still general contracting the renovation that is going on simultaneously. I was ordered to sit down and rest while they pack up all the boxes. We are going to deliver them tomorrow. It is the culmination of about five months of work. A start to our new wholesale business.

I have been banished to handling paperwork, printing and procuring food. Which is what I am good at so we had great hero's from Vinnie's of Carroll Gardens.

Plus lots of water to stay hydrated.

Matsui Mania

There used to be a bar next to the one that the wife managed that had this promotion called Matsui Mania. There were two Matsui's in New York baseball at the time. The great Hideki Matsui of the New York Yankees and the hapless Kazuo Matsui who played second base for the worthless New York Mets. Well anytime one of the Matsui's hit a home run everyone in the bar got a free drink! So the Yankees Matsui was a hell of a lot more popular. At least with the drunks on Eight Avenue.

I had to do something to impress the Japs about my multicultural bona fides. So I went to my Bobble Head collection at home and brought my Hideki Matsui Bobble Head to the store and put it in a prominent location where they could see it. They were suitably impressed.

Of course I had to hide the giant stuffed Godzilla doll I had that I used to throw at Mayumi when she worked for me and fucked something up.

You can't win them all.

What's the worst thing about Japanese people.

I know we are supposed to be friends and all but Pearl Harbor Day always gets me in a bad mood. I lost some family there and I am one to hold a grudge.

So we can make a list of things we don't like about Japan:

1. All that bowing is like a Barack Obama foriegn trip.
2. Stupid anime cartoons.
3. Spamming comment threads for japanese porn.
5. Stupid game shows that are transported to the US.
6. Pink Lady and Jeff.
7. Pokémon
8. Loser pitchers the Yankees pay too much for.
9. Rice burner motorcyles.

And the absolute worse thing:

THEY LIKE TO EAT RAW FISH!!!!!
