What if?

Wisconsin lesbians were in charge of the Fashion world.

Would everything be plaid and carpets to munch?

Things that make you smile

A pair of Indian entrepreneurs have invented a new style of "anti-rape jeans" that will help combat the epidemic of sexual assaults. The jeans contain a small alarm that when triggered send a distress call to the nearest police station.

Of course other people have jumped on the bandwagon and devised another style of anti-rape jeans. Inspired by President Obama's jeans. Nobody would ever want to have sex with anyone who wore jeans like that.

Plus they make you throw like a girl.

What the fuck do you know?

Did you ever listen to someone spout off about something they know nothing about. It happens all the time. A reporter talks about what it is like to be a cop facing a life and death situation. A Mike Wallace or a Walter Cronkite talks about what it is to be a soldier. A guy like President Obama talks about what it is like to be a patriotic American. It is just a joke.

It is that way about fashion. I mean I was forced to learn a lot about fashion because of the store. Not the avaunt Gard runway bullshit but the down in the trenches selling ready to wear. Where the fucking rubber meets the road. I deal with weight issues every fucking day. I really hate when fucking idiots talk about something they nothing about. But I will not dive in to comment.

It's better to let Carrot Top perform. It's not really comedy. It is a tragedy really. But some people like to watch it. You just can't tell people anything.

It's great when your ideas are trending right!

We are working on our designs and dress for the spring and it was great to watch the Peoples Choice awards last night. You see if you watch this show and the Grammy's, Oscars's and Emmy's you get a sense of what is on trend.

One thing that is happening for spring is bright crayon colors like many of the dresses that the girls wore last night. Crayola greens, blues and reds were all over the place. We just got a bunch of fabric in similar colors that we are making our dresses in.

Also the wife designed a new dress we are calling the trapezoid dress based on the neckline and we were delighted to see Busy Phillips wearing one on the show. Of course she would have looked a lot better if she wore the right bra but she didn't come to us for a fitting so she lost out. In any event our new dress is lot like this one. I guess great minds think alike. It is a great dress for our customer as it has sleeves for arm coverage and a great neckline while still covering the larger bra straps that our girls need. You see our girls usually have big "girls" so spaghetti straps don' t cut it.

All in all we were very happy about what we saw on the red carpet. We are on the right track.

In defense of Michelle Obama!

I know really! But I am serious.

It seems that some people are getting all upset about the cost of some of the clothing that the First Lady is wearing on her vacation in Hawaii. Now that's a crock of shit. If she has the money and wants to spend it on clothing well that's her prerogative. It is just as lame as when they were criticizing Sarah Palin for the cost of her clothing on the campaign trail. The clothes cost what they cost. Not everyone has to be a K-Mart shopper. You shouldn't tell someone what they can eat or what they can wear or how they should live their life. I wish the first lady would sign on to that too. But I still have her back on this one.

She should buy whatever she wants and enjoy wearing it on vacation.

She will be getting a lot of wear out of it when they move back to Hawaii after the election. Just sayn'

Are there any possibilities there?

You know I poke around the internet looking for new looks. This dress caught my eye. I wonder if there are any possibilities there? We would have to change it a lot to make it work for plus but there seems to be something indefinable that catches the eye. I wonder.

Hey can you guess whose that girl?

Plus model causes two douchebags to quit.

In London's fashion week, designer Mark Fast decided to use two plus size models to walk the cat walk in his designs. Now these girls were only a size 12 so it's not like he was using someone who was a size that was any different than what the majority of women in the entire fucking world are at. But two members of his "team" quit. His "stylist" and his "creative designer" quit right before the show because they refused to work with "plus" models. The prejudice and hatred that most people in the fashion industry feel toward anyone who is not a size zero is literally astounding to me.

What is normal is that the stylist is a fuckin' idiot as most of them are. They have no concept of how to dress a plus woman and have no idea what to put on them. It ill behooves any ready to wear manufacturer to work with these morons if he wants to market his design to the majority of consumers both here and in the UK. But they continue to make the same mistakes.

The only way to combat this stupidity is to make cool clothes that women want to wear. That's why we are going to California to get that ball rolling faster that it is already.

I salute Mr. Fast, he is one designer who has the right idea. We need a lot more like him.

Hey we have more Joan Holloway coming your way!

The wife has been preparing a post about five outfits that Joan Holloway wore on MadMen and how you can recreate it with a contemporary twist.

Never Say Diet liked it so much that they are featuring it on IVillage (the main NBC site) next week. I will keep you posted.

It is very exciting.

More to Love Blogging.

This is Anna who is one of the bookmakers favorites. She is the type that Luke the Mook will pick because she seems like a gold plated phoney. She is supposedly a "plus" model so she strikes a lot of "model" poses that a douche like this guy Luke would dig. I think she makes the final four.

More to Love blogging

Now meet Danielle who they set up to be the villain. She works in the theater and seems very dramatic. She jumped in the pool to stand out from the crowd. And right away the other girls were pissed. Mainly because they didn't have the guts to do something to stand out from the crowd. Sol they were all whispering and dogging her but she seems to have a sense of humor about herself and the whole situation.

I mean you have to laugh about it don't ya think.

Watch your mouth!

GATES FLAP NAILS BEEP AIDE
OUSTED OVER WEB JABS AT PROF & 'O-DUMB-A'

By LACHLAN CARTWRIGHT and JENNIFER FERMINO
New York Post July 29, 2009

An aide to Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer has resigned under pressure after she labeled Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. a "racist" and dubbed President Obama "O-dumb-a" in a Facebook rant defending racial profiling.
"I get it -- white men have dominated for hundreds of years and there's a lot of anger there. But HOW MUCH MORE can the white people do to correct past injustices of their ancestors?" wrote Lee Landor, 24, who had worked as deputy press secretary for Stringer
"If Mr. Big Shot Harvard would have kept his mouth shut, shown his ID and not started yelling at a police officer, he never would have been arrested. So please, its time to get over this 'It's because I'm black' bull- - - -" she added.
Landor resigned from the $45,758-a-year job Monday after being told "jump or be pushed," according to a source.
"Ms. Landor's comments were totally inappropriate and in direct contradiction to the views of the borough president," said a Stringer spokesman.
The Queens woman posted the politically and racially charged comments online Friday while at work.
By yesterday, she had removed her Facebook profile, but City Hall News, a political magazine that broke the story, posted images of the pages on its Web site.
"You know what, I am really getting SICK of hearing about how white people are evil racists," she wrote at 11:43 a.m. Friday.
At one point, she rants about the president: "O-dumb-a, the situation got out of hand because Gates is a racist, not because the officer was DOING HIS JOB!"
Cambridge, Mass., cops on July 16 arrested Gates for disorderly conduct in his home after responding to a 911 call about a possible break-in.
Sgt. James Crowley said Gates was being "uncooperative," but Obama said the Harvard academic, who is black, should not have been cuffed and police acted "stupidly."
Landor wrote, "Racial profiling does exist, but for good reason. Take a look at this country's jails: who makes up the majority of inmates? Exactly."
In a statement she released last night, Landor insisted, "I am not a racist." She defended her Facebook entries, saying, "It is understandable that a black man encountering police will be suspicious of racial profiling, based on the long history of racism in this country.
"Nevertheless, it appeared to me that Professor Gates acted toward Sgt. Crowley based on his own prejudice, stereotyping a white policeman to be a racist."

In a related story a Cambridge Policeman was suspended with a review for termination over an email he had posted containing some language deemed racist by his superiors and will now most likely lose his job.

You have to be really careful what you say these days. The First Amendment seems to be dead and buried.

That is why we will be focusing on the Catwoman and deviant cartoon sex.

Oh and fashion. There if you make a mistake about color the worst that can happen is you look silly.

Hey it's the new Pink Marble!

Hey it's the new Pink Marble! This is the hottest dress this weekend from Olivia Harper made exclusively for Lee Lee's Valise. It is the LuLu Style and it is sleeveless so we tend to sell it with the Donna Ricco black cardigan that you see merchandised in this photo. Now the black cardigan is a big boon to selling dresses because it is so versatile. The number one thing that women say when they come into the shop is that they want to cover their arms. This snappy little cardigan lets them do that and can be worn with many different dresses so it is a very valuable addition to your closet. I can't keep them in the store.

Also you can see the Triangle bag made of butter soft deerskin which is our hottest bag this summer. It seems almost everybody wants a beautiful bag made out of Bambi's mother.

Why you don't like my outfit.

"But you majesty the people are talking."
"Don't they know who I am. I can do a one armed pushup."
"Yes but they talk about how you dress sire."
"Why are they saying the emporer has no clothes."
"No they are saying the emporer has ugly clothes."
"Well I like my sperm suit and I am going to keep it. Let me show you why."

This is more like it

This is more like it, but it is a spring dress. Notice it has arms and a great fabric and how it falls. With a band around the waist to give definition.

This one is a keeper. It has to be a great inspiration.

It's not a way to start a fashion dynasty.

We also won't be getting any inspiration from "Dynasty" or basiclly anything from the eighties. I am thinking about this because we are brainstorming our fall today. This is how far ahead you have to be. Plannng your fall production in July. In fact we are a little behind to tell the truth.

It's been a busy day.

We are not going to copy Heather Locklear

Well one thing for sure is that we are not going to copy Heather Locklear's taste in bathing suits.

Out suits actually fit.

Oh and most of our girls have their orginal faces too!

No clothes for you!

So the last couple of days we have been going to Manhattan to vendors to try to order dresses for fall. And in several places we find that they are not cutting plus at all. Or they are cutting four dresses and that's it, festa fiunute.

The first place we went to has some great dresses at a reasonable price with rich fabrics. They are only making 4 dresses in plus and although the fabrics are nice they are all kinda drab. Not really colorful. They are ponte fabric which is a rich fabric but the colors are sort of muted, grey, black that kind of thing. Now the Missy (smaller 0-12) has some great dresses in purples and berries and green and all kinds of rich lush fabrics. We get a few but our philosophy is to get dresses for our whole range of 10-28 and it is really impossible.

You see all the big department stores are not ordering woman's sizes and the companies are just not cutting them at all. So you can't get anything but old lady stuff unless you make it yourself. Which we are doing but boy it is a lot of work.

Our exclusive line from Olivia Harper that my wife designs is selling like hot cakes because it is the only stuff that has rich fabrics and the right fit. Almost every piece that What Not to Wear picked was an exclusive that my wife designed. So we are in the process of putting together a fall line that will be right on the money. The only problem is we are cutting small amounts so some people might get shut out. But if you snooze you lose.

If you wait around, no clothes for you.

Hey where have you been?

So where have I been all day? We have been really busy today in the store. We had a couple of vendors in the store and were making decisions as to what to buy for the spring. We try to follow the trends and translate it into plus. For example polka dot fabric is really in this season. So we worked with a vendor who made what we call the "Micro dot" polka dot dress. We blew out of it and have already sold 90% of the cut. Since there is no more fabric it is as we say in Italian "Festa fuinta."

The parties over.

Ring out the old and ring in the new!

Tomorrow the wife and I will be out in the city going to showrooms trying to get some new clothes in for the spring. A lot of the big suppliers have decided not to do plus this year as the big department stores have severely cut their orders. So there will be a big shortage of clothing in sizes 10-28 which is exactly our size range. So we have to go out and get it.
The photo shoot on Sunday went to about 1 in the morning. We did a lot of jewelry as well as clothes so hopefully we will get some action.
Light posting day tomorrow.
