Is this the last of Terra Nova?

They had the season finale of "Terra Nova" this past Monday and there is no announcement if there will be another season. You hate when that happens because the cast moves on to other projects and they can't get them back. Thus great shows like "Deadwood" are no more because unless they put everybody under contract they get new gigs. Like Marshall Bullock is now Marshall Givens on Justified.

So we don't know how "Terra Nova" will end.

You know the story. A bunch of refugees fled a polluted and dying world to establish a new community based on freedom and equity. All presided over by a charismatic guru with a grey beard. Sounds like a great idea.

I hope they get another season. I want to see how it turns out.

I know bullshit when I see it.

So on the last Terra Nova that we saw last night, Commander Taylor is out in the jungle alone when he is captured by the rebel leader Mira. They spar back and forth and he gets the upper hand and captures her. They are walking back and suddenly they are attacked by a pair of raptors. They flee because even with their advanced weapons it would be dicey thing to kill a couple of rampaging dinosaurs with a rifle and a pistol. The raptors chase them and the end up at the edge of a cliff near a waterfall. Of course. So they jump off to escape. They survive a two hundred foot drop but lose all their equipment. Right.

So what do they do? They are still being chased. They can't out run them. So they start making spears and bows and arrows and what not. Now they do dip the tips in oil or tar or something so they can light them. The dino's attack at night and of course they get them with the flaming spears and chase them away. Very believable. Not.

I mean seriously. How are you going to take this seriously when they can't stop them with modern weapons but can with a flint tipped spear? All the great special effects goes out the window. I know it is escaptist TV but I wish there was a modicum of believablity. But that is too much to ask these days.

Jeez Natty Lighten Up!

Have you been watching Terra Nova. So far it seems like a pretty cool sci-fi show with some nice family elements. Reminds me of old school stuff like the original Star Trek or Land of the Giants.

But the leader of the colony Commander Nathaniel Taylor is freaking me out. He has Captain Kirk disease. He has to go on every dangerous mission and is always shooting a dinosaur or rubbing dirt on his face to infiltrate the bad guys or something. He really has to delegate more. And the dude is just way to intense. He always looks like his eyeballs are gonna pop out of his head. Enough already.

Lucky for him it is only a 13 episode series. I don't think he would make it past another week.
