You need to get "The Night and the Music"

If you have a kindle you need to go out and get Lawrence Blocks great collection of "Matthew Scudder" short stories entitled "The Night and the Music."

As I have said before Lawrence Block is the master of hard boiled detective fiction and his character Matthew Scudder is just about a perfect realization of a time and a place. I see so much of myself in him that it is fuckin' scary. His discussions of what it means to be a drinker and his descriptions of bouncing around the city is right on the mark. I have been there and done that back in the day.

These stories are a vital slice of life of the city and this collection is full of short but memorable vignettes of the drinkin' life.

Get this book. You will love it.
