Now I know why I loved "LIfe on Mars."

I finally figured out why I really love the show "Life on Mars."It is the sensibility of the creators. It was the second to the last episode and it costarred Peter Gherty as an FBI agent who is investigating the squad. Anyway he has a scene in which he is standing by coffee machine talking to the guy who came back in time. And you know what he is talking about? Angie Dickensen in Police Woman. He goes"I love Angie Dickensen." So Sam Tyler goes "Is that where you get your investigative techniques from Police Woman?" Gherty goes "You don't watch Police Woman for the police stuff, you watch it for Angie Dickensen." That's where he decided the guy is an alien.

I mean these guys pick Angie Dickensen as the hottest woman on TV. What's next, Harvey Keitel will have a poster of Stella Stevens on his wall. Cool.

Cool "Life on Mars" episode tonight

Hey there is a cool episode of "Life on Mars" where the star Jason O'Mara who is Irish gets to pay Irish where he goes undercover to go after the Irish Mob on the West Side. The Westies were all the rage in the 1980's. I used to do the taxes for this auto radiator place on the West Side in early '80's and those guys used to hang out at a bar up the block. This joint was just an open garage where they would yank the radiators from taxi-cabs, boil them out to find the holes and then patch them up and reinstall them. It was about one million degrees in that joint and they used to leave the garage doors open even when it was like ten below zero out. So every once in a while we would see the Westie guys chasing some guy down the street that owed money to the shy and wouldn't pay. One of the workers at the radiator place was a stone junkie and once when I opened to door to the toilet he was passed out on the pot with a needle still in his arm. I told the owner and he just grabbed the guy and threw him in the vat with the water. Luckily for him it was the cold one and not the hot one.

Anyway watch O'Mara get to use his Irish Accent to good effect tonight.

What a great episode, swing away baby.

The last episode of Life on Mars was great. It was about airline stewardesses and swingers. The hero had to go undercover and put on a seventies porno guy moustache. The stews were wearing the old school uniforms and they went to a swingers party where they threw all the keys in a dish to change partners. They had a primitive mike and when it went out Harvey Keitel decides to come in to the party as well and strolls in with a Chinese hooker. It was hilarious. Catch it in repeats if you can.

Oh with primo cooze Gina Gershon as the pilot's wife. Tasty piece of tenderloin .

Life on Mars was great this week.

Ireally enjoyed Life on Mars but just because of the music. They had the usual stupid story about somebody cutting off heads and leaving them in the police station but the little music things they did were great. They had White Room by Cream for a good five minutes but best of all 30 Days in the Hole by Humble Pie, one of my favorites. Catch the repeat on Saturday.
