I am being consumed
By the time it takes to run two stores. I just haven't had the time to do much posting because I am in the front store running things while Lisa was in the back running the lingerie store. Formerly I was able to hang back in my office and I had time to blog here and there. But now I am busy from the beginning of the day until the end and we get home I am too beat to be very creative.
For example today we were interviewing models for our big photo shoot on Monday. Lisa had these girls trying on various outfits and we had to decide who we wanted to hire to be on our website and in other advertising that we are working on. Plus I had a bunch of on-line orders because we had a sale.
I miss when I had the time to post all day. But then I would waste a bunch of that time fighting with Lawnboy and Inga.
I leave that to other people these days. Enjoy.

Not to worry.....I am just to be too busy
Hey not to worry. I have just been very busy the last two weeks so I have fallen behind on my posting.
This past week was the gift show and we had to go for three days straight. So no posting on the net. After the show we had meetings with various sales reps as we are looking for people to rep our wholesale line out on the Coast and in the Midwest. So typically we shopped all day and had a dinner meeting. When we got home I was so beat I went to sleep.
What you do at these shows you go to various booths and see what they have. We are filling the lingerie shop but that will not just have bras and nightgowns and robes. We need filler items like purses and jewelry and lingerie bags and little cards that the girl shopping for a gift for a bridal shower could buy. You want to be a one stop shopping experience. Here Lisa is getting lingerie bags and make up cases that will be little add ons.
Now is the time you buy stuff to sell for the Holidays. These metal boxes are soy candles with three wicks which burn for about sixty hours with some really cool smells. Goes for twenty bucks retail and is a perfect teachers gift or Kris Kringle thingy.
Scarves are a big thing this season. We got these from an outfit from Nepal made by homeless Nepalese or some shit like that there. It was funny but after we bought them we saw someone wearing one of them on a TV show that night.
We walked up and down the aisle and we saw French inspired shit we would stop. The shop has a French motif which is of course karma. There is nothing I hate more than French people and now I have a French shop and French or Frenchified cunts coming in every freaking day.
One of the things we are going to offer is earrings that would be cute and sexy to wear with the lingerie outfit. Or to put together for a gift for your girlfriend. You can come in and the girls can help you pick out a whole outfit down to the cute earnings. These go for $40 retail which is very reasonable for the quality.
The problem is that all of this is very labor intensive. The little purchase we have above took about an hour to pick out. Lisa has to balance the cost vs. the cute. It is easy to buy very expensive stuff that looks great but then it is really hard to sell it in Obama's economy. So you spend hour after hour trying to find a good price point to be able to sell it and turn it over so your money doesn't sit in inventory. It was exhausting. Especially since the gift show doesn't have any chairs! When you are at a clothing store they have chairs to sit on while they show you the line. In the gift show space is at a premium so you are standing up the whole time.
The one thing that really worked out was that I was able to find the perfect pillow for Lisa.

Back to the factory
You might have noticed that I have not been posting as much as usual. That is because we have been really, really busy. We have been going back and forth to the factory to try to complete the Japan order. We had a problem with one particular dress because we could not get the fabric that the sample was made of and what the Japanese ordered. That was a "one-off" that was made solely for Lisa to wear to a party. But they dug it off the rack and ordered it and we had to do our best to get it.
You can see the original in the middle. The ones on each end are two different fabrics that most closely approximate it. You can not tell the texture and feel of the fabric but they are silk cotton blends and very rich.
The problem is sewing this dress. We are back forth all the time to the factory to make decisions about making this dress.

Lisa and the pattern maker are working to get all the kinks out and finish it in time for delivery. It is just very time consuming so Joey Gallo and Doc Holliday have to take a back seat.

I have to throw you a Curve Ball
Or play with my curve balls. Or something.
I will be at the Curve show the next two days. That is where we order lingerie and bras and what not. I have to sit there while models show us the bras and stuff we are going to purchase.
This year we decided to open up our inventory to all sizes not just plus. You see the girls who come into the store because of the bras we have in the window. So we are going to have stuff to sell.
Then we have a huge meeting on Wednesday which is very important.
So I have to let Doc and Joey hang out for a while without me. Sorry.

It was crazy I tells ya....crazy
We had a crazy weekend of selling these last few days. We had a sale so all the nutzoids come out as well as our regulars who want a sale. The show is being shown internationally and we just found out it is airing in Australia now. So we got a bunch of vegemite sandwich eaters signing up.
Since we are handling all of the manufacturing one thing is clear. More work for Jim.
I have to bring all the fabrics from the fabric store home and then take it to the cutting service. Then I have to pick up the completed production from the factory. It has to be counted and looked at for quality control. I just finished doing that for the 100 skirts we got in Friday.
I am pretty freakin' tired.

I couldn't post too much today
I had a super busy morning so I went in the back and sat on one of my recliners and fell asleep or a couple of hours.
Then these manikins molested me.
I feel so ashamed.

I was busy as usual........
Today was a very busy day so I didn't have a lot of time to post. I was busy getting my shirts cleaned. Oh and cooking.
I didn't make any elaborate Revolutionary War Catsup recipes like Palladian....it was just a simple eggplant lasagna. I am trying to cook healthy so we can feel better and lose a few pounds. But that takes time and effort.

The Rule of Three
Sorry that I haven't been posting but it has been a very crazy couple of days.
The wife has a group of close girlfriends since she was in grammar school. Just as I have several friends from grammar school. Nobody can call you on your shit like people who know you from when you were eating paste in kindergarten. These girls get together a couple of times a year to stay in touch and talk about what is going on in their lives. They all went to Catholic school together but what is even more interesting is that their mothers went to grammar school together too! That was what Brooklyn used to be like!
There are two sets of sisters. On set moved to Jersey and the other set moved out on the Island. Now one of the girls husbands has been sick. He was getting chemo but he seemed to be recovering. So we were really shocked two weeks ago to get a call that one of the other girls husbands had died. We all went out to Jersey for the wake and the funeral and it was pretty tough. This was out of the blue. It was very sad as the guy was only 57.
Well Monday we got a call. The other guy was dying and only had hours to live. He passed on Tuesday. We jumped in the car and went out there to be with the family. I got a bunch of cold cuts and bread and pastries from all the good stores in Brooklyn for them because so many people were coming to pay their respects at the house. We were there all day and have been going back for the wake. They are burying him on Saturday morning.
It is really really tough as they have young kids and they were a very close couple. They did everything together. It will be very tough for the wife to go on alone. So they really need their friends at a time like this. Lisa is a very maternal figure to them as she envelopes them in a hug and just listens. I help with the food and the financial questions. We need to be there for them.
The most fucked up thing is that these two girls and Lisa are very close. And about five or six douche bags have come up to me and said "Be careful Jim these things happen in threes." Can you punch somebody in the face at a wake?
I guess at an Irish wake but these guys are guineas. So once again I have to swallow it and not do what I want to do. Some people just don't know what to do. You can't teach them. You just have to ignore them.
Anyway I am not ignoring youse guys. Just busy. So carry on. Play nice.

You are a Prostitution Whore!

Sorry that the posting has been light but I have been very busy. The store is busy, the Yankees are playing, the Giants are winning and I have been busy posting on all the sites about the various Real Housewives franchises.
We have to keep our priorities straight.

Hey I have to take a break

I guess you have seen that I have been blogging a lot less the last few weeks.
The thing is that I have been so busy that I have not had time to devote to what is one of my favorite hobbies. When you are pulled in a million directions something has to give. Nobody knows what someone else's situation is and they shouldn't throw stones. Just sayn.
So I have to take a break from posting because I have an extremely big and important project going on that I have to devote my full attention to for about the next month. So I am going off the grid for a month or so.
No blogging. No commenting. No nuthin.
Cold Turkey for about a month.
I plan to return on October 22th if all falls into place as I think it will. So check back then and we can pick up the conversation and the shenanigans.
All the best.
Your pal Trooper.

Sorry about that chief.

I have just been too busy to really write up any posts that I am willing to put here. I mean I will throw out a comment or two between customers but I can't give enough thought or effort to a post that I feel like posting for youse guys.
Plus there was a "Man from U.N.C.L.E." marathon and you know what that means.

Hey I was a little busy!

Sorry that the blogging and commenting have been a little light but I have been at the trade shows in the Javits center the past couple of days.
Yesterday I spent the day at Curve which is the lingerie show and spent the day having women come up to me and asking me to check them out in the underwear.
We got a lot of new stuff.
It's sort of like digging ditches. You know. Dirty.

While I am away......
Tuesday, March 2, 2010
I hate it when a series gets canceled and I miss some of my favorite characters.

I have been so busy lately that it is hard to put up a lot of posts. The store is going great guns and a lot of fun great things are happening. And of course the tax season is heating up and I am in the home stretch of what I hope to be my last tax season. So I have to do the best I can.
What sucks is when I have to drop series for one reason or another. It is a lot easier to pull down a photo of Julie Newmar or Moneypenny and riff off of that. Some of the others require a lot more work.
What's worst about having a series cancelled is that you miss some of your favorite characters.
I still miss Adrienne Barbeau's tits.
