What Not to Wear is cancelled.

Well we got the news today that "What Not to Wear" was cancelled today. After ten years they have done their last make-over.

We were on the show over twenty five times and the friendship we developed with Stacy London led to her getting us our own show. But it seems the handwriting was on the wall. Make over shows are played out. There were too many copies and they wouldn't let us go in a different direction with our show as I wanted to do. So now the network is focusing on Honey Boo Boo, Sister Wives and midgets.

I do want to thank Stacy for everything she has done for us. She will be fine as she just published a popular book and has started her "Style for Hire" service. Clinton is on "The Taste" everyday and is doing fine.

Life goes on. The reruns will last forever so we will get a pump up every time they are on so there is that. Nothing lasts forever.

Stacy's shoes?

For some reason women are obsessed with shoes.

Fancy Pants Book Signing

Well we finally recovered from the Fancy Pants Book signing for Stacy London's new book on Tuesday night.

For some crazy reason we got there early. My regular car service guy wasn't available so I had to call the car service and we left a little early. There was no traffic so we got there about a half an hour early. The event was supposed to be on the roof top. We ran into one of the make up girls from "What Not to Wear" who told us just to go upstairs. But when we got there it was a "private" party and we got thrown out! Funny shit.

We went down to the bar and who do we run into but the ghost writer of the book. And she was wearing one of our dresses as she is a customer too! So we adjourn to the bar for drinks to wait for the party which had moved to the back room of this joint. This old dude comes by to say hello to the ghostwriter girl and I offer to get him a drink but he declines. I didn't know it at the time but he was Stacy's editor and some hot shit guy at Simon and Schuster. Anyway we were talking about the show and stuff and I said that the next thing we want to do is write a book about plus size style where Lisa can give tips and stuff and he says that was great idea. Who knew?

Everybody went into the party and we met a bunch of people we know. Carmody the Make Up girl from WNTW. Her boyfriend was from Sheepshead Bay and we shared a laugh about "Wheelers." Some of the crew from WNTW. The producer who took over our show when the idiot guy got fired. And the head of BBC America production who is pretty high up. She said that BBC loved the show and is marketing it overseas. So we will see what we will see. We had a good discussion and some networking so it was very productive.

Stacy was very happy that we were there. She is great friends with Lisa and we met her family as well. They were fans of the show especailly her sister and step mom. So it was great to meet them.

We also got to hang out with Myra who was our make up artist. She also does make up for the Real Housewives for both New York and New Jersey. She does Ramona of NY and Melissa of NJ in particular. She gave us some good dirt that I can't share with you but that was pretty interesting.

All in all it was a great night. I did tip the waiters (I was the only one who did) so we got a whole lot of really good wine.

It took a day or two to recover.

Fancy pants book signing!

We are invited to the book launch party for Stacy London's new book "The Truth About Style." We have been working all day to clear the deck so we can enjoy ourselves at the launch party.

It is at a ritzy hotel called "The Strand" and we will be hob nobbing with a bunch of big shots.

Full report tomorrow.

Funny there wasn't any Packer's stuff...I wonder why?

So there wasn't much cool stuff to bid on at the silent auction this year. Except for sports related stuff.

The Cancer society has a connection with a memorabilia guy who works all the fundraisers. He puts out  a piece and sets a minimum price where he makes money and the charity makes some dough. Of course the higher the bidding the more the charity makes.

What was funny was that almost all of the pieces were either the Yankees or the Football Giants. There was one Jackie Robinson thing and one Met's piece and one Knick's item and all the other fifty things were Yankees or Giants.

I bid on a couple of pieces. I lost out on the Larry Johnson autographed basketball which was kind of unique because it was also autographed by all of the sixteen children he had with sixteen different mothers. They know their audience.

I lost on the Eli Manning autographed football used in the Super Bowl that went for a couple of grand. My bid was damn good but not that good.

I also lost on a huge framed photo of the core four Yankees of Jeter, Posada, Pettite and Mariano. I was sure I would get that one but somebody beat me out.

The one piece I did get had photos of the two great catches in the last two Giant Superbowl wins. The David Tyree catch and the Mario Manningham catch of this last one. It also has game tickets attached for the Superbowl. Funny the face value is around $900. Holy smokes.

It is going on the wall in Jim's corner in the back room where the husbands hang out while the wife shops. Along with the photo of Frank and Dean having a cocktail that I got last year. I plan to pick something up every year to decorate the walls.

When Stacy saw me carrying it back to the table she said "Oh what did you get Jim?" I said "I got this great Giant's Superbowl photo montage. Did  I tell you lately that the Giants won the Super Bowl?" She said "Not more than once a day Jim. Not more than once I day."

We love Stacy London

We love Stacy London. She has been very good to us. She came into the store the second day we were open and has always been our biggest supporter.

She put us on "What Not to Wear" over twenty five times.

Now don't get me wrong. We came through for her too and always produced when she needed us. They always came to us when they had a tough fit. And we helped her with some of her personal styling jobs. We all live on a two way street.

We have been talking about the show for about three years. We filmed the "sizzle reel" which is a four minute little pilot that she shopped. We did that a year ago. So now it is finally happening.

We did a lighting test in the store today. They put orange paper over all of our lights to give a "warmer" feel to the store.

I look like a rotisserie chicken.

We can't wait to start.

Headless Body in Topless Boutique

No it is just naked manikins.

Supposedly we will be in the New York Post tomorrow Wendsday January 24, 2012.

I always thought I would make the Post but I thought it would be in the Police Report or "Strange but True."

This pretty cool.

Press Release The Television Blend!

Stacy London’s tenure on TLC’s What Not To Wear has given her the opportunity to dress women with many shapes, sizes, and dressing preferences. Nine seasons of dressing experience on television is certainly enough to back up a new clothing-oriented television program, and a new show seems to be where London wants to go next. With so much experience under her belt, TLC should be pretty happy to have London on board to executive produce a brand new show.

London is set to executive produce on an as-yet untitled program, which will follow Lisa and Jim Dolan, a married couple who run a plus-size clothing boutique. According to THR, the unscripted program will focus on the Dolan family, as well as customers who seek out the Dolan business - Lee Lee’s Valise, located in Brooklyn, New York. BBC Worldwide productions is also set to produce the project.

The new show, while focusing on what one boutique can offer, does sound similar to London’s background at What Not To Wear in other ways. Just like What Not To Wear, the Dolan family mission at Lee Lee’s Valise will be to revamp the wardrobes of their clients and to give them insider tips about how to dress successfully. If the Dolans can help women to dress successfully while remaining tactful about the changes, I can see the show doing well. Apparently, London has faith as well, since this is not her first partnership with the boutique. Lee Lee’s Valise has dressed several subjects on What Not To Wear throughout the years, including Heather, back in September of last year

Press Release Hollywood Reporter!

The "What Not to Wear" co-host is producing a new unscripted series about a Brooklyn boutique for plus-size women.

Stacy London is setting out on another project with TLC.

The network has ordered a new unscripted series with the What Not to Where co-host serving as executive producer.

London's yet-to-be-titled series, produced by BBC Worldwide Productions for TLC, will follow married business partners Lisa and Jim Dolan as they look to boost their stake in the plus-size fashion world.

The Dolans own Brooklyn boutique Lee Lee’s Valise, which features Lisa's designs. The series will highlight three different customers in each episode in addition to showcasing the Dolan family. And much like London's What Not to Wear, Lisa and her team will work on overhauling the clients' wardrobes, offering expertise customized for plus-size fashion.

London has worked on TLC's What Not to Wear since 2003, where she and co-host Clinton Kelly work to overhaul the styles of fashionably challenged guests.

She's joined by Scott Shatsky and Julie Merson executive producing for Super Long Play, with Elli Hakami and Jane Tranter serving as EPs from BBC Worldwide.
